Yes and yes to both.
Her mom inadvertently ended up giving Sara less attention because of her focus on Ashu, and later she transferred that maternal need to Jai as she saw Ashu in him. So Sara felt ignored and later when she was grown up enough to understand she put two and two together and attributed her lack of maternal attention (and perhaps affection) to her mom’s fixation on Ashu. Hence the anger towards Ashu because he obviously did not care about her mother and still her mother pined for him at the cost of neglecting her daughter who loved her and was physically there!
