I am excited. At least she's a Pakistani and looks age appropriate too unlike Alia Bhatt who was rumoured to be playing the role too. I think Suhana Khan could have been a good option too but no one knows about her acting skill

Hollywood finally getting representation right. Step in the right direction.
Personally the best part is that they didn't go for the stereotypical brown skin.
Iman looks like how Kamala Khan would look like in normal representation.

Brown skin is under-represented, actually. It's under-represented even in subcontinental movies.
So glad that they didn’t cast a black person for this role or spray painted a white person!

Why would they cast Black or white people here? 😕

That’s because most South asians living in the US are darker skinned, so you cannot blame them for that. Most people here don’t even know that we desis come in a spectrum of colors and our skin colors doesn’t make us more or less of a desi.
I can’t tell you how many times I have been mistaken as hispanic, arabic, iranian, etc...just because my skin color apparently is “too light” to be “Indian”.
coz that’s what hollywood used to do for decades.

I agree with the subcontinental movie part, it is the eternal desi love for “fair” skin 😵 But in the US, the percption for desi skin color is the opposite
AFAIK, they never cast any Black guy for the role of a Brown person. And a white doing the role would invite a gigantic backlash.
