Dr. Asthana in Munna bhai mbbs. I was preparing for my mbbs entrance exam when I saw that movie and loved it so much! I still like it, but after being in the profession for few years now I realize that many of the things he said in his speech to the first years, though they made him sound very cold hearted in the film, had an element of truth to it. It is one thing to empathize with patients and another to get extremely attached to them. Also, doctors don't hold treatment to demand for registration/paperwork before attending to a critical case even if it is a medicolegal case.

I still like both munna bhai and asthana.. In fact all the characters are nice.. My favourite being Circuit of course.. Lol.. But if asked to pick a side now I guess I would go with the character of chinky (asthana's daughter) who had the good points of both munnabhai and her dad.

Fun fact- Later I got mbbs admission in the very same medical college where the shooting of few scenes of the film took place. That anatomy lecture Hall and dissection hall is legendary.

It happens in India though. First hand experience.

I just realized Mogambo is winning this fair and square. It makes me emotional that there are other kind souls like me who recognize his need to be happy. Looks like the mankind still has some hope.😭
