Kashmir belongs to India (according to India and want to leave it there). POK is an enemy coming occupying a part of India which is a sensitive thing to any country- not that difficult to understand, I hope. POK is an extremely sensitive thing to any true blue blood Indian. So calling their most beloved city POK, why would they like it? Like I was saying earlier, its because Kangana is not as big a star as SRK or Aamir and also because she is a Hindu, she is saved from the public’s ire. God forbid if this same thing was said by one of them or any muslim for that matter, the country would’ve been on fire by now.
PoK has always existed after the partition and India revoked Kashmir's autonomy and made that radical move only last year. Anyway, I think I get why PoK reference is offensive in an Indian political context but I was just amazed at how people were treating PoK like it's some godforsaken thing nothing should be compared with. PoK looks like a piece of heaven and has many beautiful valleys, etc. and is next to Switzerland in terms of beauty. I'll leave it at that too, no further comments on politics.
Back to the topic, I think the primary concern should have been KR getting intimidated and threatened by some thugs. But so many were making a huge brouhaha about what she referred to Mumbai as--which is HER city as much as it is anyone else's there. Do people never say things like "Oh God what has become of this city!!" when they are frustrated? That doesn't mean they are insulting the city and its residents. Also, shouldn't people be focusing on problematic collective behavior of people instead of what someone like KR is tweeting? What's with the obsession?
