Omg 🙊 I hope people just don't start abusing Marathis now.

Umm, no. Kids learn everything of their mother's customs. Even the ones living in their dad's city, adopt more things from their mom's side than dad's. Exception, the family living in a city/country that's totally alien to the man's as well as the woman's culture... then they pick the local language/customs more than the parents'. Even there, they are 70% of their mom, language/customwise.

Is it? I mean I've seen some mixed people who only speak Hindi and English. But maybe they were the exception

The ones doing that are absolute misogynists and they won't stop their nonsense anyway unless slapped with legal action. These numbnuts have lost their heads long back. I mean these creatures online are the rape threat giving kind so no wonder.

Incels/jobless losers/ self esteem lower than the pits of hell saying all this online would probably wet their pants trying to string two words infront of a Bong woman lmao. Its the andar ka 'cant get it, can't be it, so let's trash it' mentality these nutjobs have. Misogyny, patriarchy, also the fact that Bong women were arguably the most liberated in their form of thought and action amongst women in India along with a community and region which actually had mostly encouraged it and saw the feminist movement very early on compared to the rest of mainstream India- all of these really put these losers in a bad mood.

Oh the irony of protesting against the stereotypes of toxic bihari families while perpetuating stereotypes for bengali girls. Atleast there is an actual bitter sociological truth in the first fact which is too much to digest for some.

This entire idea of Bong women are witches comes from early tantric practices and the resulting witch hunt in Purulia, which happened even in Bihar (lol) as with the rest of India. Even today tantric practices are there and thriving in most rural places in India but y'know Bong women are such witches. Then the Bijon Setu massacre by the left government then was highly publicized as a witch hunt when it was just politics. To add to that, we have had the supposed Wiccan witch Ipsita Roy Chakraverti, the only widely featured mainstream one. But all her healing powers of the Wicca narrative fell on deaf ears cause ofcourse she was evil and all that. Cause y'know all Bong women are witches.

The truth of the matter remains that these incidents were widespread in the media and psyche of the people somehow made all bong women the target of their ire since in places of visibility, they were far more liberated than the rest in both thought process and sartorial choices.

My only fear is that by perpetuating this nonsense in such a mainstream way again, if these losers start actually affecting the lives of women, we have a huge problem. But I don't think it has reached that stage. In fact, right now everyone knows these numbnuts are just jobless vultures with misogyny and internalized misogyny and nobody is taking them seriously. One thing though : these people are definitely not the kind any decent human being would have ever endorsed fighting for them if they were alive. They deserve to be spit on instead.

Stereotypes can and will exist there's no escaping them but these kind which makes villains outta a whole community of women have no place in an educated society and anyone supporting this in the guise for justice need to their heads checked. Its not all right up there, fella.

Lastly, I goddamn wish I were a powerful sorceress right about now(not the bewitching people kind cause Bong women don't need magical powers for that shit 🤷 ) but just a regular one who can fly off with her broom cause am tired of corona and really miss travelling to far off places 😔 One international broom for this witch please! smiley36

I think you are taking Twitter trolls too seriously. No one here thinks Bengali women are witches. Since it's a BW forum, I'm obliged to say that Bengalis on a whole have actually been given the best representation in Bollywood.😆 The coolest, smartest & most eccentric characters were mostly Bongs!

What toxic sociological truth is there about Bihari families? 😕 Have never heard of that before.

Interesting. You are convinced Rhea is guilty without any evidence, but you are annoyed at people for doing the same thing to Bengali women.

LOL.

Yes. Let's stop this stupid vilification of any person who comes from a particular background. Be it Bengali women or Bihari families. Let this theory apply everywhere, not selectively.
