I now have a follow-up question. Sehar you might not have the answer, but I'm sure someone on here will know.

In Hinduism, does a second wife have any kind of legally-binding position. Ya is it that one woman is the wife and the other is basically a girlfriend for all legal purposes. I know there's bigamy in the west, but they get around that by not actually being married to any of the women after the first, and I assume not caring that the kids technically are born outside marriage.

Bigamy is not permissible as per law. 2nd wife means 1st wife has to be divorced . The property division etc , there r laws for it. Rest ,illegally ppl do anything
