Hatim could never have coped with that, lol.
On the serious side, and this is just my personal experience- and one thing I've learnt from dramas is that my experiences are quite limited- but people generally don't name babies after dead relatives. Especially those who died tragically and/or young. I've seen a rare case where boys are sometimes named after their grandfather, but that can happen even when the grandfather is living. This is making me think, and I'd be interested to know other people's experience with this.
I haven't heard of any precedence for it. I think it's always based on personal choice and if it happens it's more likely given as second name or a middle name (if the family even gives 2 names or a middle name that is). I have a huge family and it's not common in it but I cannot speak for others. My paternal cousin named his son after my grandfather so that's one great grandson getting a grandparent's name a good 25 years after passing but even then my cousin's son has another given name he is referred by. I know for me, a variation of my paternal grandma's name was being considered while she was alive but that suggestion was struck down pretty quick.
