Frankly, I donāt think āaukaatā is polite speak anywhere, Sam and I am not sure under what contexts it is spoken casually wherever that is. Between friends perhaps? Again, aukaat is one of the most controversial words every single BB season that gets hurled by someone or the other and issues are raised as well. Arrogance is always attributed to the speaker even if said in defence or rebuttal.
Anyway, if this is sarcasm as I concluded earlier, I find it really hilarious since itās the very idea of aukaat subverted and turned on its head, though Iād rather she be careful with her choice of words especially since even we know Hindi challenges her.
As for fan power going to her head, I seriously hope that doesnāt happen with her. She has a certain uniqueness and substance and playfulness in her that can carry her well in the industry. She also has a partner who is so firmly grounded, itās a pain. Heh. I hope she stays well-guided and humble.
Yes I got to know through TV and BB only that its a controversial word and it often made me wonder why they were making simple word sound so dramatic but then BB was bit about making issue be it food or language so I did not realise that it was considered crude .I have seen my extended family and friends in India use it so often Uma across all ages without any undue emphasis that it doesn't have that impact on me, for eg, during shopping if shown very expensive stuff, they say that very nice but hamari aukat se bahar hai , kuch sasta wala dikhao bhaiya to shopkeeper or in an expensive restaurant among friends laughingly telling eachother that yar dishes aukat main rehkar order kana or for studies and results like meri aukat nahi hai 98% lane ki or itna padne ki. I remember one of my aunt tearfully telling once that apni aukat nahi hai itna pain seh kar bhi khush rehne ki after she visited someone in lot of pain. So I have seen it being used in various context but I never saw it being used insultingly in real life except in tv.
Its kind of being used as a slang for capacity, capability potentiality etc in north of India but you are very right that in bb it was used as an issue whether for defence or rebuttal n if one is aware that it can be misinterpreted , then it shall be avoided more so if you have large n varied audience
I like how you put across the idea of very term aukat being subverted in her sarcasm. thats a clever oneš
I too do hope that her playfulness n uniqueness does stay the same as thats what made us connect with her and yes about fan power going to head , we can not overlook the most important thing her humble partner which might be of great influenceš Ameen to that she stays guided and groundedšš»šš»šā¤ā¤ā¤
