abhishek was given i million chances

they tried everything on him

from dhoti to designer brands, but still a floppy and will remain floppy for ever. the best hands tried to package him right...but phir bhi FLOPPY.

he was touted to be the next baap - the big of industry, but bann gayaa unemployed ...for good.

well sometimes we gotta apply this logic as well..if you have it you will be a hit

if you don't , no matter how hard anyone will try, you will a floppy

rajesh khanna the superstars daughters..twinkle and rinkle...super duper floppys

mala sinha daughter - super duper floppy

adhitya pancholi beta...super duper floppy

salman khan brothers...super duper floppys...i don't even know if they still reside in india or fled the country

many many more.

kareena kapoor - good actor survived

alia bhatt - good actor survived

RK - good actor survived

salman bhai - charming, handsome - i mean in his 1st, 2nd, 3rd outingssss...survived

endless list..

now the outsiders

SHAH - THE outsider ---unmatched

MADHURI - THE outsider - unmatched

viday balan - top

pc - top

many others....they survived..

maybe they had the 'it' factor...so they all survived.

remember i said if you have it you have it, if not ...then floppy!

Sanya Malhotra - Still a struggler

Q

RK - good actor survived

RK debuted in a flop movie in 2007.

Rajiv Khandelwal debuted with a hit in 2008. But did not get the same opportunities to prove.

As I said, insiders who could improve their talent with multiple chances have survived. Insiders who could not improve even with multiple chances have perished.

Outsiders have not been given enough chance at all.

I have left out pre 2000 outsider stars (from Dev Anand to Sharukh-Akshay). There was no big movie promotion (packaging) needed in those days.

Vidya Balan was not considered in mainstream movies like Kareena. She made her mark in alternate low budget movies.

It’s not as if Rajeev or Sanya get no films.

Ameesha also might still get films. But she’s close to just another Kangana. Clingy and crazy 😜

Problem with nepotism in Bollywood is, people can only reject some of the nepotism products (Abhishek, Arjun Kapoor). But they don't have ability to promote outsiders into top position. Those who can reach top are only those nepotism products who were not rejected.

I read people saying, "Then go and watch Kunal Khemu or Vidyut's movies. Who is stopping you?". It is not those people's stardom or acting which is stopping people to watch them. It is the entire product. The outsiders are never given the same product or packaging where they can compete with insiders.

They don't get to debut (except Sid) in a well packaged commercial movie launched by a big banner to get recognition. So their familiarity is low.

It is not that Alia or Varun were known to public before (like Jhanvi, Taimur or Aryan). It is the SOTY promotions which made their name familiar.

Outsiders does not get this packaging. They have to act either in artsy movie with less commercial content or a low budget commercial ones. When people reject these movies (may be because of the lack of commercial content, or they are poorly made, it is termed as people rejecting these actors).

It is not so black and white. Yes, insiders are more likely to get a "launch" but opportunities are also there for outsiders. In just the first half of this past decade, we have had all these successful launches under big banners: Jacqueline (2010), Nargis (2011), Ayushmann, Yami, Illeana, Sid (2012), Sushant, Raj, Amit, Vaani (2013), Kriti, Fawad (2014), Disha (2015), etc. Most of these names are among the mainstream stars we discuss today. Some have failed due to lack of talent or other reasons, just as some insiders (Arjun, Jackky, Sonakshi, etc) have as well.

Mostly, the major difference comes in how the media and audience take to these launches. Kriti and Tiger can debut in the same film but the media and audience are more likely to gravitate towards Tiger because he's Jackie Shroff's son so there is some instant name recognition. It takes outsiders a bit longer to gain that fame.

On bold.

Yes. There are opportunities. But as I said, in low budget (what we call B grade) movies. Why is Ayushman mocked as "Gareebon Ka Superstar"? It is because of the kind of film he gets. Yes, he proves his mettle in them like how Vidya Balan did. But Vidya could not get Katrina/Kareena's movies (even before her weight gain) and Ayushman cannot get Ranbir or Tiger's big budget movies.

Same with Rajeev, Sanya. Yes, they would get roles. But not what insider gets. Sanya cannot get Kalank. Forget Ranbir, Rajeev cannot even get what Abhishek Bacchan gets, even if he can draw more audience than him.

Many interviews I can find where Vidya is putting down those types of movies. 😆

That was after she found her own niche in Paa, Kahaani etc. In early 2000, she used to get mocked a lot.

She was healthy, but not fat (Paa, Parineeta days). But articles said, she can't look glamorous (fit for behenji type roles). Only Katrina, Kareena could be considered for glamour roles.

Kareena was not thin either. But nobody ever made fun of her. Years later when Kareena reduced her figure, tons of articles were written about her size zero, not mentioning Tashan tanked. Basically Kareena always carried hype in media, despite flops. People like Vidya and Amrita Rao were kept at bay. Vidya survived. Amrita Rao vanished.
