I agree. It's high time our writers stop writing dramas that perpetuates toxicity. They need to stop conflating romance and abuse which is sick. 😩 Jealousy and possessiveness shouldn't be romanticized. It’s “romantic" when a man becomes aggressive to protect “his” woman because the only way men can express their emotions in Paki dramas is through explosions of jealous rage. The standard of toxic masculinity set in these dramas should not be brushed aside as a matter of culture. They are teaching young girls all over the world that abuse is romantic. Dramas like Jalan and Deewangi are so problematic that they have dire consequences yet they attract masses.

But my point was about forming an emotional bond with certain characters, which cause us to empathise with them whenever they are feeling happy or sad. Which is normal. Is may kuch ghalat nai hai. 😊
