Paatal Lok, I loved it. Gripping story, compelling narrative and screenplay and excellent casting š. Jaideep Ahlawat as foul-mouthed struggling cop Hathi Ram Chaudhary was so brilliant, stellar performance š¤©; I think he got well deserved due through this series (I first watched him in Commando). Abhishek Banerjee as Hathoda Tyagi is menacing even without many dialogues. The cute cop Imran Ansari (Ishwak Singh) is the mother-lover from Veere di Wedding (Netizens crushing over him and Amazon Prime acknowledging it š). Rest of the cast was great too. The subplots (about the supporting characters) are well written and executed - that one thing common in the web series which I loved, like Sacred games or Made in Heaven ... also main characters are not black and white, almost everyone is shades of grey. Then there are dogs š, lots of them. The trailer gives the impression that of a mythological crime thriller, but it's a neo-noir socio-political crime thriller, 'paatal lok' used metaphorically more for social stratification. In the reviews, I read the writing was weak in showing how the media works; well, they know better š¤·. Not for the faint-hearted - strong language, brutal murders and few other stomach-churning scenes, hellish ride. The season has a proper conclusion like Special Ops, no cliff hanger: it leaves you satisfied but haunts you longer.
