Chapter 26

He let his wife have her own way with things. it did make him happy when he found out that his wife had made rice pudding as sweet dish keep in mind his favorite sweet dish but he did not let his mind ponder own on it. Maan made up his mind to keep his wife in the friend zone for some days. before calling it a night they sit together on a two-seater sofa. maan talked about his office, happening of the day whereas geet talk about her friends and the time she spends with them. maan could make out that she missed them a lot. He asked her whether she had talked to them and geet being herself told that she did call them or attend any calls fearing others will like it. at this maan rolled his eyes. he found the behavior and over expectations of his wife really amusing. he wanted to laugh at her overgeneralization of things and especially her role as his wife.

Geet looked at her husband like a child excepting an adult to tell her whether she is correct or not. maan does not want to comment on her knowledge of the wedding as he himself did not really have any knowledge about it and he was sure that there is no rule book to make any marriage life successfully. to calm her nerves he joked that if go on like this then she will definitely become the perfect wife. geet smile at that took the words of her husband in a literal sense. looking at the smile he understood her misconception and told that it will definitely increase her chances of becoming the worst mother-in-law in the future. geet twisted her lips in response not at all understanding his point of view. at that moment maan sees the glimpses of a girl he fall in love with. she had made a similar kind of face when he met her for the first time.

he pulled her in a hug and plant a sweet innocent kiss on her forehead.

"geet baby there is no need to worry about a single thing...this is our life we will together experience every phase of it...do not treat it as an experiment...every person is different and so are their expectations and there is no rule book of perfect wife which you are trying to follow...you may have observes some things and behaviors and deducted that as a way of life of wife...it is just a tag little tag of a daughter, sister. the tags are not there to change you they are there make you feel loved and protected...yes, there is a responsibility but are an individual you have your own life as well and own circle of friends do not ignore it... I do not want you to reduce your personality and mold into something which you feel that society thinks perfectly. we are not here for perfection we are here for togetherness....together we will overcome every shortcoming of our life...so just enjoy life, be my partner and include me in your life so we can have a happy ever after which we have seen in the life of our parents..."

geet nodded in response.

"Chalo ajayo its very late and I have office tomorrow..." said maan and with that went to sleep with a relax the mind and happy faces.

Geet followed her husband and stopped overthinking. It was hard at first as she was so used to thing of consequences before doing anything. It is a good habit if we look into it from a professional perspective but this habit is quite harmful if we apply it to general everyday life. Slowly geet start feeling comfortable with her home and her new family. Their night conversation becomes a kind of routine. before hitting the bed, they make it a point to sit together and share their past experience. they talk about everything. sometimes the topic revolves around friends, sometimes about a family member. there were also days where day discusses the politics of the country.

Both Maan and Geet could feel the emerging bond in their relationship. Before they were carrying the tags of husband-wife but now they can feel the real bond. the bond of togetherness. Geet start taking care of her husband but this time the care did not come because of the implications of marriage. Their intimate life stopped for some time but little by little they move forward. Maan felt like as if they were in girlfriend- boyfriend zone. But if ask him, if he regrets, the answer would no. they were able to live those which missed because of their responsibilities towards their family.

Unfortunately, maan did not get the break from his office to take his wife on mini honeymoon. somewhere he was happy that it did not happen because he liked the pace at which his relationship with his wife is moving forward.

geet was busier than maan. the thoughts of having some alone time only with her husband never really crossed her mind. her young girly heart enjoys the small phone calls and messages that she received throughout the day from her husband. the wait and anticipation make their togetherness sweeter. they makeout sessions leave both breathless. They always stopped at a point, not wanted to cross the line. It seems funny that they are stopping themselves from doing the same thing which they did on the name of marriage.

Geet loves spending time with her family. Preet was now her self proclaimed best friend. they together enjoy tease maan and make fun of him and not to forget their drolling sessions. In these few months, they have opened so much that they do not shy away from drooling on almost any actor who is chest naked. Earlier used to control it before there mother but now even she seems unaffected with there shameless comments and sometimes gives her on input too. What really shocked everyone was the bond geet has now developed with her mother-in-law.
