Yes we have more population and we are developing country. There are a lot of poor workers too so its harder for us. There is no justification for people gathering for marriage , party etc but we cant blame migrant workers. But, hopefully, we will overcome it.

This is an indication of community transmission in Delhi...hope I prove wrong ..

I don't want this to happen in india ..

People are giving here the examples of South Korea, but the main fact is besides being less populated, n' Rich,... the main reason is,

their rules, discipline and obedience is very strict and punishive,.....

The nation was among poor category for long, but in last 3 generations only, now today is among a developed nations,.. Nation was also autocrat / taana shah / aap-khud shahi / Sarmukhtyaar shahi ,.. and just converted after 1987 to so called Democarcy,... But those old genes and roots are still in tact,... World propel knows their rules of North and south korea,...... Right ?

Say,..If you R' found to sell drugs,.. they simply make you all lined up facing back,...... aur machine-gun se,... khopri ka kopcha uda dete hai,.. have seen tons of such circulated vdos on net,.. !!!

.

Also,..

We know that people will not throw caution to winds and start behaving like pre-Carona days. But economic activity will start slowly once lockdown is lifted.

My view is that lockdowns should be used as tools to get a respite or relief from the spread for coming up with a plan. A plan that does not count lockdown as a solution and depend on a 100% restriction of movements completely throttling the economy. In India many people like daily wage earners at construction sites work under extremely hazardous conditions with no personal safety gear of any sort that threaten their life everyday. That section of the economy/society may not care too much for the threat this virus poses for them. Lack of economic activity and the resultant wages itself is a killer for them. We should not be denying them their right to livelihood. I understand the difference in the industrial hazards threat and Carona threat. One is a limited threat to the individual or the group in that area while another is a public health threat that has wider and far reaching implications. But the daily earner may not be willing to listen to that explanation.

Going by the previous epidemics, it is normal to have a second and a third wave. Are we going to lockdown everytime there is a resurgence of the virus although the subsequent waves might be less deadly and less contagious? We should have better solutions. Lockdown is a stopgap/bandaid solution to come up with more lasting and impactful solution that does not require throttling economy substantially and has less adverse impact on people's lives. That will happen when we have a vaccine and government gets more sophisticated in its response.

Or it is possible that governments know more than they can tell us at this point in time regarding the virus.

Well,.. some may say very easily, that,..,....

"I do not think that lockdown is being looked as a solution to the problem, either in India or usa or Europe.

I think that the idea is to contain the spread and not overload the medical system, while a plan is formulated, a cure is invented and the medical system augmented. Nobody believes that the virus will die away if not allowed to spread. Poor city dwellers are migrant workers from rural area and most of the hot spots are in metros. If cities(hot spots) are lock downed for a long time poor will be having hard time to find work, pay rent and food. It is difficult any which way. At least they should be let off from the cities. "

Ok,.. Partially agree,... But, let say,...

Wuhan the epicentre of the entire pandemic is opened (may be partially), and last positive case was reported more than 15 days back.

So there is a lot of merit in lock down in India at least , where once there is community spread, it is a night mare to tackle the deluge of cases in our outdated, primitive tertiary care free govt facilities which will be over whelmed in no time.

I am for lifting of lock down in decentralised manner, not any longer country wide one formula at least going forward from coming week, other wise the economic pain (which most of us escape) will be devastating to millions of daily wage earners who though supported by Govt and NGOs and public at large to at least reduce their misery for food every day!

b-t-w, just from da top of my head,....Once the Carona scare is over, will we be facing another extraordinary threat? I am thinking Russia/China together might strike at world's IT infrastructure that can disrupt economy to similar extent. They might unleash a virtual virus after Carona virus. All these actions aimed at weakening US. Russia and Putin might be doing it to avenge Soviet Union breakup and China to fulfill its superpower ambition.

An excellent article on this topic -
