Yea! It's Kerala New Year.

We make 'Kani' and all, that we'll do this year too. After waking up, the little children and others of the family will be taken closed eyed to the Kani which will be in the prayer place and they will open eyes to it, so that the year will be prosperous. 😊 I will send you pics tomorrow😃

Yup and Indian Laburnum, used in this has an interesting story of how it came to use, which is related to Lord Krishna😊

What Diwali is to North is Vishu to Kerala. We celebrate with crackers and stuff and all, it's a complete celebration and then feast at noon... Kani actually means first sight, like the first sight we have in an year😊 Even Temples prepare Kani but this time they won't because if they did and if people visit, it will be an issue.
