@Peace: Exactly! It's no coincidence that the the decisions Kunal takes which Abir approves of and dubs "independent" happen to also be the decisions that go against Meenu. Why can't it ever be Kunal's decision to support his mother because he sees sense in what she is saying, cares about her feelings, or thinks there is a better way to deal with her?
Haye, I loved your reading of the back hug dream sequence, how Kuhu's love just sort of snuck up on Kunal, and enveloped him, when he wasn't looking. And in a moment of stress and doubt, her touch and presence is what he craved.
@clarity: I totally get your POV but we may have to agree to disagree on this one. Abir and Meenu are very different on the surface, but when it comes to Kunal, I see them as equal forces, pulling him in opposite directions when all he wants to do is hang out peacefully in the middle. As you know, I also find Meenu a much more sympathetic and layered character than most viewers of the show, so that contributes to my reading as well. Abir's ego issues are not as apparent because they don't take the shape of saazishes, but I think he is equally hellbent on forcing people into his way of thinking -- they are both very my way or the high way people and Kunal takes on both of their share of compromise. That is precisely what I think Kuhu is starting to see and point out now, but Kunal desperately wants to hide to maintain whatever little peace there is.
