B
She was lost in her thoughts when she heard a phone ring. She looked on the table, it wasnât her phone. Then she looked at the other phone sitting on the table, face down, ringing, it was his phone.
Her heart stopped for a second.
Mind confused.
Eyes stared at the phone without blinking.
An uninvited anxietyâŠ
She wasnât sure if she should answer his phone. Would it be okay? Would he mind? He didnât really mind anything she did these days, why would he mind? But just because he was being nice didnât mean she had to misuse it..
Her hands switching back and forth from a clenching fistâŠ
Still contemplating..
The phone stopped ringing.
Half disappointed.
Half relieved.
She retreated her arm.
And maybe relaxed to not see who was calling..
She turned to see him. He was walking towards her. That made her smile. He was finally coming back to her. He had been away from her for only a little bit, but felt forever.
Her heart started racing, seeing her extremely handsome husband walking towards her..
All by himself.
Leaving the crowd behind..
Maybe she was over thinking about him being like a typical husband. He was almost there. She continued staring at him, at his face. He looked perfect. Should she tell him that? Yes, she definitely should. She would. Maybe.
She smiled.
He arrived. He saw his wife, smiling at him. And anxiously waiting. For him.
That was another sort of pride.
He got to her, leaned it, making her flinch. An obvious one. Unsure if it was excitement or the unannounced closeness.
His lips moved in, close to her face. Passing her lips, and her cheeks, moving towards her ears, he stopped, she arched her neck, not subtle at all, he noticed that, smiled, and whispered âI came to get my phone.â
Leaned in further, intentionally, touching her with his body, just enough, grabbed his phone and moved back. All this happened so quickly. She couldnât comprehend everything.
Her doe eyes looked at him in disbelief and asked âyou came here just to get your phone?â He replied âyes, why?.â She stood up in frustration and said âbecause I was waiting..â
Removing that slight distance between them, he leaned in and whispered âwhat are you waiting for?â She saw him grin. Noticed what he was doing. He had done that before, several times. And she had always fallen prey to his sexy eyes. Not this time. She was determined. She would do the same to him.
She replied âfor dinner.â And that was it. She won.
Now she was smiling..
And smirkingâŠ
Proudly.
He replied âare you hungry?â while his eyes traced her body. Taken aback with that question, she didnât know what to say. She had to think fast. Really fast. And she did.
âArenât you hungry?â Yes, that was it. A perfect reply. Satisfied with her reply.
Now she traced him, top to bottom. And then back to top. To his eyes.
A rare occasion to see Mr. Arnav Singh Raizada speechless. Oh how proud she was for saying that. Now he will get a taste of his own medicine. She smiled. Ear to ear. Waiting for his reply. She could see his face, suppressed expression.
She arched her eyebrows, without verbally repeating the question.
He smiled.
She didnât like that.
He looked at her again.
She didnât like the composure either.
And he said âNo. I am actually not hungry.â
HE WON. Altogether. How was that even possible. She was supposed to win. Not him. She had to win. NOW.
Think Khushi, think. All those years of knowing him. Think. What could she say to frustrate him to his core. What?
Her frustration halted. His phone rang. Again..
Part C continues...
