Well, it's a bit more complicated. The surgical masks don't create a seal; so if someone sneezes on you and you're within that 6 feet distance, the virus will easily get access from the sides; theoretically (N95 is different). Hence the distance is recommended, and yes, mask is an added barrier, not the best, but something is better than nothing.

As for Asian countries, more than the masks, they were successful in the social distancing, quarantine and shelter at home measures. I think those did more than the masks tbh.

This could very well be a possibility why TJ Muslims in India are not following govt orders while Muslims in rest of the world are following and cooperating.

Give it 2-3 days, mask guidelines wil be changed.

As you said it's an added barrier just like initially it was recommended to do social distancing. Later orders were put in place...same is the case with masks.

Also remember my post when they ask you to wear safety goggles well.. Covid-19 infected are also showing pinkeye symptoms... At some point they will wake up n announce it 🤦🏻‍♂️

As for Asian countries ofcourse many factors worked due to prior experience of pandemics... And if you follow their advise they said wear masks no matter what.
