How is the book? I've not read the Holmes' novels, knew some of them from the web series which I've watched. Kiriti and Byomkesh are the best in this genre in Bengali along with Feluda...
I liked it a lot. It's really the sort of classic novel I love to read. It's easy to read and understand, and the detection work explained is awesome. I'd recommend it. You won't regret reading these books.
I'm currently reading The Hound of the Baskervilles and I've heard it's the best one of the 4 novels.
I've only watched a couple of Byomkesh episodes in Hindi and read a few stories of Feluda. Obviously, I liked Feluda better, because I like reading better than watching it on TV. But now, after reading Sherlock's, I can tell where Feluda was inspired from. In fact, in the books Feluda keeps mentioning that his inspiration is English detective stories, and upon reading the books, I can see how Feluda tried to imitate not only Holmes' detection style but his mannerisms as well...including his signature style of puffing out rings of smoke using a cigar.
