All they care about is their TRP. Seriousl, going to colonies to interview them. Did people not upload enough videos on their own for them to show ? And also why r the politicians risking their lives like this is beyond me. I don't think they are that selfless to not care given if something happens to them we lose on leader in this crisis so not very well thought generosity dusra reason can be they are dumb and they don't even know they are risking their lives. I will go with the second here. And news walas don't care on their own to keep a distance either.

Atleast this proved that people are still beyond ignorant. Most might not even have a clue why they were asked to clap or bang utensils. Did it just for the internet videos mainly or maybe just because Modi ji asked for it. Making sure the gesture is left with no value. The horror for medical practitioners to watch them gather like this clapping aimlessly.

What people don't understand is this is not Italy. Imagine what their healthcare might be going through each day watching hundreds of people die. Having to choose between people who they should save and who they should leave to die. Imagine them watching families cry mourn live in fear and anxiety each and everyday and be helpless in the whole process. Imagine the kind of impact it might be causing to these people. Then think about why that clapping and cheering and singing in that country matters so much to them. To believe they are doing some good, that they are saving some people, they are keeping the hope alive through their efforts.

Now come back to this country where doctors are still waiting for their protective gears and helplessly working to tests people and choosing to expose themselves to the disease in the process. People are not dead yet atleast not in hundreds. They know it can be avoided if people just would listen to them. They can be more protected if people stop clapping and demand government to provide the basic supplies needed. It can be avoided if people are more educated regarding all of this. If government takes tough measures earlier than what other countries did. And what do they get? They get mass gathering of people clapping and banging their utensils and then venturing out to have a nice time. You are not really thankful of anything if u don't understand the point of thanking someone. First understand what u r doing then go about doing it. Otherwise its pointless and it doesn't help the doctors at all. They can live without ur clapping, but they will pay a price cause of the ignorance.

At least now slowly our states are moving towards lockdown. If it had spread here in India before it did in Italy and we didn't know how exponentially it spreads....😳

Stuff of nightmares ..

But i just saw many posts here - the curfew and the clapping was to applaud all the people working selflessly against the virus and build the right mindset amongst the people to defeat the virus , but there are people gathering in groups banging their utensils which just defeats the whole purpose of the curfew and puts us even more at risk .. 😐

Other countries shut down their cities even when their air pollution goes beyond a level. Even China does. What do we do? We fight over Diwali manani hai ke nahin . Its because its so badly contagious and its killing people at that rate is what freaked everyone. Otherwise we have plenty of issues affecting our health on a regular basis that gets ignored. Yahan pe toh drug resistent TB bhi hai kaun seriously leta hai.

Very true. Nobody even takes pollution seriously here. I think another reason why they are taking lockdown steps now is that it almost reached Parliament thanks to Ms. Kapoor. They have realised that even the politicians can't escape Corona. I'm still waiting for President's test results. Why are they quiet about it?

India needs basic awareness. I've been saying this again and again. Without awareness it's a lost effort. People will blindly follow others and not think.

This actually reminds me of the Polio episode. People did not know what the disease was,no clue why it was happening. And then medical volunteers around the country went to speak to millions of households and made them aware. The government took massive advertising measures to let people know why their child needs 'Do boond zindagi ke' Its one of those incredible stories about India.

People need to be told by authorities why exactly they are staying home. What's the science behind it. What's social distancing and isolation and what the virus can do.

Indian people in recent years have started to be performative about their culture, patriotism and the likes. It's more about the performance and show of things that actually caring about the issue. This has been happening for couple of years now.
