I have not been to Punjab but from what I heard from Mom she said ours is old (pure) Punjabi language. That's what she has been told . But for me there is no much difference between Punjabi and Hindi except for few words and the slang.

about Punjabi - accent , dialects are not same everywhere . That’s the main difference and it’s in all kind of languages . Like there is southern accent in USA , northern accent . British English , Australian English and so on .
