So Geet is shifting her to hospital for further tests

CHAPTER 45

ALL THE NAMES & PLACES ARE FICTITIOUS (if any resemblance to persons & places is purely coincidental). Any MEDICAL PROCEDURES, MEDICAL TERMS, RELIGIOUS TERMS, Punjabi terms, architectural terms, IT terms & programs, hospital/office hierachy, wedding rituals, etc. are from my imagination hence THEY ARE NOT TRUE.

Once the ambulance departed, Geet went to Adi’s cabin to pack up her medical bag. Maan was in washroom while Geet started walking towards the portico. She had just reached the lobby when same girl in micro mini named ‘Sasha’ blocked her way and said in a condescending attitude, “Listen behenji (seeing Geet’s cotton saree and hair bun),

you think that you have taken my Maan from me in just four days, but you are wrong as I’ve known him for past 8yrs.”

“Excuse me Miss. I’m in a rush.” Geet said side stepping Sasha.

But Sasha refused to leave Geet’s way, “What do you think that you are a doctor so you can boss everyone?”

“According to you Ms. Maheshwari, I being “Daughter-in-law of Khuranas”, cannot boss on anyone but you being a ‘mere’ “Junior Architect” in Khurana Construction can boss on whole Khurana Construction?”

“Why you two day old wife how can........”

“I regret to break your bubble Ms. Maheshwari, I’m not two day old wife of Maan but a 13 yrs. old wife of Maan. Kindly get your facts straight.”

“Why you nincompoo doctor I.......” Sasha raised her hand to strike Geet but Geet caught Sasha’s hand in a tight grip

and said in a ice cold voice, “Ms. Maheshwari, I don’t know what your academic qualifications are? But you definitely are not academically very bright who considers a doctor as “nincompoo”. Anyway, I have an emergency case waiting at AER in hospital which is more important than your brainless and useless chatter. Good bye! Hope to never meet you again!” Geet left Sasha’s bloodless pale hand and before walking out turned back and said, “Ice your hand otherwise it will be very painful later!” Then Geet walked out of the door in extreme anger leaving stunned KC staff. On the way to exit she met a man looking like a peon and said, “Bhaiyaji, aap Baba yaani Pitahji ko battaiyega ki hum haspataal ke liye nikal gayen hain.” (Kindly inform Baba I mean CEO that I’ve left for hospital.)

“Ji Bahurani.” (Yes Ma’am.)

Maan and Ranjit were stunned seeing this aggressive behaviour of Geet. Ranjit had come to ask Maan to go home as there was a fight going on between Yash on one side; and Pitamber & Vaidehi on other side. Savitri Devi and Vicky were unable to handle it. Whereas Maan had just come to lobby to accompany Geet to hospital for Adi’s moral support. But seeing Geet’s anger and aggression, Maan ran behind Geet which surprised all the staff present and even Ranjit standing in KC lobby. Maan just reached Geet before she sat in her car and said, “Mishty calm down!”

“Instead of calming me down kindly get KC in order before its too late. Hasptaal chaliye Sitaramji.” Geet said in a disgusted voice and the car drove off.

Geet’s car had just come back from repair and all Khurana cars were unavailable, therefore Maan had come in Geet’s car to Khurana Constructions.

From car, Geet informed Dr. Vijaylakshmi about Pinky’s care and why she was not accompanying Pinky. Geet also requested Dr. Vijaylakshmi for few tests to be done on Pinky so that the test results are out by the time she arrives at the hospital. Then Geet relaxed and reclined in half sitting and half lying position in the rear seat of the car and her mind drifted to pleasant and unpleasant things happening in her life since Maan walked into her life few months back after 13yrs (counting as she remembers him due to her memory loss!). Geet was now slowly and steadily loosing her patience and tolerance with her family as well as societal idiosyncracies and the perception of a woman in general world wide. Geet wanted to get away from New Delhi, from India and also Khurana Mansion. As she knows herself she knows that she is on a verge of exploding. And if she explodes she will hurt all her loved ones i.e. Maan, Annie, Savitri Devi, Ram, Priya etc. Geet decided to go for a vacation (after informing Maan off course) with Annie. Geet had hoped that by explaining to Khannas (Pitamber and Vaidehi) repercurssions of what can happen to Yash if they are forceful and strict with him, she can prevent a disaster from happening. But unfortunately Pitamber and Vaidehi neither heeded to Savitri Devi & Geet’s intelligent and wise warning nor to Dr. Budhiraja’s medical warning. Geet felt that she may have misjudged Khannas as they refuse to understand the seriousness of the situation. Pitamber and Vaidehi felt that Yash was just doing a drama in order to marry Annie and there is nothing wrong with him. However, Geet is first a ‘mother’. Therefore as a “mother” she must protect her child (baccha). She doesn’t want her baccha, Annie to again come in firing range of Yash’s temper and violence. Hence, its better that twins leave Khurana Mansion, India and New Delhi for sometime. Geet was still in her deep thoughts when the car stopped. “Kya hua Sitaramji?” (What is the matter Sitaram?)

“Betiya lagta hai accident ho gaya hai.” (It looks like an accident Ma’am.)

Just then a Police officer came tapping on windows of all the cars in the traffic jam asking if anyone is a doctor as they have a pregnant lady seriously ill. Geet at once got alert and said, “Hum hain doctor.” (I’m a doctor.)

“Ma’am, aap jaldi chaliye, ek aurat ko baccha honewala hai.” (Ma’am, please hurry, a woman is about to deliver a child.) The senior Police Officer of Inspector rank informed.

“Chaliye hummein dekhaiye.” (Please take me to her.) Picking up her medical bag, Geet left with the Police Inspector. The Inspector took Geet towards the woman and Geet examined the woman and realised that the woman’s delivery is not too far away besides the woman was hurt and bleeding as well. Seeing lady constable she told her and the Police Inspector, “Inhein jald se jald haspataal lena jaana hoga. Inki halat bahut nazuk hai. Kya Police madatt kar sakti hai?” (We need to take her to hospital immediately. Its a matter of life and death. Can Police please help?)

“Haan doctor sahiba.” (Yes Doctor.) The Police Inspector immediately took charge and placed the injured woman in the Police jeep and cleared the traffic.

Two hours later a wounded mother was relaxing with her new born son on her chest while nurses were tending to her reopened wound. After delivery of the baby and cutting of the umbilical cord, Geet excused herself and Dr. Vijaylakshmi took over the case. As soon as Pinky and Adi had arrived in the hospital, Dr. Vijaylakshmi had attended to Pinky and ordered tests to be done on Pinky as adviced by Geet.

Now Geet went through Pinky’s test results and was slightly relaxed. Next Geet reached Pinky’s cabin and saw that Pinky and Adi were looking tense.

“Adi Bhaiya and Pinky Congratulations on your wedding!”

“Thank you Geet!” Adi and Pinky said together

“Accha abb app battaiye ki kya hua? Aap dono itna pareshan kyun lag rahe hain?” (What’s wrong? Why are you both looking so tense?)

“Geet, mai humara baby khona nahi.......” (Geet, I don’t want to loose my bab.......) Pinky said breaking down in tears.

“Pinky, dekho tumhare rone se kya hoga sirf tumhari tabiyat aur kharaab hogi.” (By crying Pinky you will only ruin your health nothing else.)

“Magar, Geet.........” (but Geet......) Adi asked concerned.

“Bhaiya and Pinky, I’m sorry that I’m carrier of unpleasant news.”

“KYA?” (What?) Adi and Pinky again said together

“It was a false positive. Pinky your not pregnant but to be 100% sure, we need to do an ultrasound.”

“That’s fine but what about........” Geet stopped Adi from completing his sentence by pressing his hand. Just then a nurse walked in and Geet ordered, “Nurse, please make Mrs. Srivastav have at least 1 - 1.5 litres of water as she has to undergo an ultrasound in an hour.”

“Yes doctor.”

“Mrs. Srivastav, you can’t use washroom until your ultrasound is over. Mr. Srivastav we have to admit your wife for tonight in hospital.”

“Yes doctor.” Seeing Pinky occupied with nurse, Geet indicated Adi to follow her. Once they reached cafeteria, Geet ordered, “Jaggi ji, ek black coffee, ek masala chai, ek sada dosa aur........Bhaiya, aap kya lenge?” (Jaggi, one black coffee, one masala chai, one plain dosa and........Bhaiya, what would you like?)

“Geet mujhe.....” (Geet, I don.......)

“Aur ek chole batura.” (One chola batura.)

Once their coffee and tea had come, Geet started talking, “Bhaiya, things are not as bad as I had expected but there is still a cause of concern. As I said that Pinky is not pregnant but their is a growth in her uterus which we have to remove as soon as possible.”

“What kind of growth? Canc......”

“Bhaiya, I can’t say for sure until I see the ultrasound. But I would request you not to mention this to Pinky as she is very weak as well as tense right now.” Just then their food arrived, “Bhaiya, lijiye khaana bhi aa gaya.” (Here is food.)

“Geet mai.......” (Geet I don’t.....)

“Bhaiya, aapke bhooke-pyaase rehne se kuch nahi badalega. Agar aap Pinky se saccha pyaar karte hain aur uski dekh-bhaal karna chahte hain toh pehle apna dhyaan rakhiye.” (By your starving nothing is going to change. If you truly love Pinky and want to look after her all your life you have to first look after youself.)

“Adi, Geet ek dam theek keh rahi hai.” (Adi, Geet is absolutely right.) Adi and Geet looked towards the voice and Maan was standing there.

Geet and Maan insisted Adi to have tea and chola batura. Once Adi had eaten he land he was looking less stressed, Maan and Get let Adi leave for Pinky’s room.

It was interesting to see the furious, angry and possessive Geet. And she was right Sasha deserves a good lesson.

Why does Geet want to go on a vacation leaving Maan? Maan can also join the sisters.

Pinky wasn’t pregnant but ill. Missed Maaneet moments.

But why is geet getting so angry and frustrated....

Right now geet is like a bomb about to explode and Shashi better behave else next time she will not survive.

Pinky is not pregnant, so they married in a hurry for no reason?😄. Just joking. Hope nothing serious with her.
