It's actually the Maddona and wh*re complex. According to this, the simple, "well dressed" women are the good ones and the ones wearing more revealing clothes are the vamps.

This is seen in Madhuri and Karishma's movie with SRK where Madhuri is dressed "properly" so steals the man's heart as opposed to Karishma.
