I don't think Dev hates Brinda, he thinks she's lying to him and wants to know why Nayantara ran away because she was the one keen on the marriage.

I think Dev cancelled the marriage because he believes Brinda loves Rajat. For him marriage is about love, Brinda doesn't love him and he isn't in a hurry to marry, he only agreed to the marriage for Brinda's sake.

Brinda will hate Dev now because she'll think he's involved in Nayantara's "death"
