Panga is a slice of the life movie in its truest form. So many scenes from watching it have lingered because they were lifted right from reality. There was no big conflict or big villain except the circumstances. But the love of family and its togetherness overcomes it all. Kangana's portrayal was reminiscent of my mother for me. And that is the highest complement I can give her acting! I remembered the times I have hurt her due to careless words, the times I have underappreciated her, and the dreams she has let go of, the dreams both my parents have let go of. Because of me, because of my siblings.
To its credit, Panga doesn't linger in that festering wound, it rises about that. Jaya rises above that through the support of her child and husband. She finds that her love for Kabbaddi had never died, it just needed a means to rise again. Another thing this film does SO well is its very realistic ending. Jaya is not the athletes to end all athletes by the end, the ending is her beginning in the world of Kabbaddi. It is her comeback, not her climax. She just got started when she got the validation that she was not wrong to pursue the sport again. She is capable. Given time, she can reach the highs she had reached before. Jaya's return to Kabbadi is not easy. It is hard. There are family issues, there is incessant judgement of others, there is doubt from the naysayers. And there is her own self that is her enemy, whether it be the unfit body or an unfocused mind. These are hurdles she overcame! And the only reason Jaya got past them was because of her love for Kabbaddi. Her love for the sport had never stopped! She constantly vacillated in her love between Kabbaddi and the other two men in her life, she needed all 3 in her life to thrive.
Panga is celebration of familial relationships and dreams. Of everybody's, but especially mother's. Society will tell you no, but listen to your heart. Richa chadha brought levity and humour throughout the film, her character was my most favorite character next to Jaya. Neena Gupta was a revelation. Jassi and the little guy were fabulous as Jaya's family! Each character had a personality and a story to tell. I'm glad I was there to listen and watch this story. It will linger in my conscious and sub-conscious for a while and I can see myself revisiting to watch those little moments once again.
If you haven't, go watch the film! It is heart warming and you will leave the theater with a genuine smile on your face.

#Panga could not get the support which I had anticipated for Sunday & collects ₹6Cr. on Day3.
damn!
boxofficeindia 😕
Panga collected 5-5.50 crore nett on Sunday and could not really follow up the big growth on Saturday as mass belts have rejected the film and this where Sunday growth mainly comes from. The weekend business of the film will be 11.5-12 crore nett which is pretty poor. The business is best in the Delhi NCR area but other big metros like Mumbai and Bangalore could have been better. the holds over the weekdays could be okay but thats more because it had very low day one collections. Its a struggle for the film to go anywhere after these sort of weekend collections.

Street Dancer 3 did well on Republic Day with collections of 16-17 crore nett but it could have been a little better as mass areas jump could have been higher considering it was a national holiday which should mean better collections than a normal Sunday.
The film has posted a weekend of around 39 crore nett which is fair but it will have to maintain well over the weekdays. The growth has been pretty good over the weekend but that low starting point has meant the film not collecting what it should have. If this growth had come from around 12-13 crore nett then it would be a different story.
Tanhaji - The Unsung Warrior is extraordinary with collections of 12 crore nett apprx on Sunday which takes its second weekend over 25 crore nett plus which is the fourth hghest ever after Bahubali - The Conclusion, Dangal and PK. The total after the third weekend will be around 218 crore nett which takes it 14th places in terms of top NETT grossers and its looking at a top ten finish. The film continues to smash records in Maharashtra.

Panga had a low weekend of 11.25 crore though the trend especially on Saturday was good. It picked up well on Saturday but its coming off a low level which leaves the overall numbers at poor levels. The film could have released on another date and it was a mistake for the makers to come and clash with a bigger film. A one week push would have meant a clash with Jawani Jaaneman which Panga could have beaten in a clash.
The Saturday jump means that there is an audience which have liked the film no doubt its a limited audience but releasing it when the competition is lesser would have given this film much better run. Clashes are fine and films can survive with clashes but they have to be of equals or close to equals. Its weird that you have these small films taking on the bigger films like Panga against Street Dancer 3, Chhapaak against Tanhaji - The Unsung Warrior and Saand Ki Aankh against Housefull 4. These smaller films hardly have an audience and on a good day and a liked film by the target audience you might get 50 lk footfalls but by clashing you are reducing even those mininmal footfalls.. If it can do that then it will be in with a chance of success despite these low opening weekend collections.
The film could hold well over the weekdays at low levels but with hardly anything on the board its going to be a struggle to go anywhere. The collections of Panga till date are as follows..
Friday - 2,00,00,000
Saturday - 4,25,00,000
Sunday - 5,50,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 11,75,00,000 apprx
I m surprised why didn't ppl watched it .such a sweet movie and a movie from heart.jassie is a great treat ❤️ Ashwini is underrated
Had a lot of expectations from the film but was very disappointing. Thought this would come from the Queen/EV/Tumhari Sulu space but turned out to be a bland khichdi. Way too simplistic. Atleast kuch toh character/dramatic arc hona chahiye. There's nothing. Everything happens at snail's pace in a simple way. First half is so long, they should've gotten to the point way early than dragging it till the interval. The kabaddi matches in the second half were repetitive and could not suspend my interest till the end where Jaya actually takes charge. Acting wise also no scope for anyone to perform much so Kangana was meh so was Neena Gupta who had no role. Most of the jokes were falling flat and no one was laughing in the theatre though they were quite nice. The film has it's moments, like showing women supporting other women, no evil coach or evil roomate,Jaya talking about her household duties and fretting but all these moments are way too less. Biggest flaw of the film is it's repetitiveness in trying to show the mundane. Even Jaya kicking her husband has no effect after a few seconds and thanks to the so loud Jugnu song (one of my fav songs this year), you can't hear the initial dilaogues and such half hearted attempt at the ending credits.
Biggest surprise was Richa Chaddha. Don't really like her acting but she was surprisingly good and quirky in the film.
