CHAPTER 30

ALL THE NAMES & PLACES ARE FICTITIOUS (if any resemblance to persons & places is purely coincidental). As Kulbhushan had tried to shoot Annie making his grip tighten on Annie's throat thereby resulting in Kulbhushan choking Annie. Kavyanjali (Annie) was still unconscious which was worrying Maan. There was no way ascertaining that for how long was oxygen stopped from reaching Annie’s lungs! While Yash was giving CPR to Annie, Geet revived much to the delight and relief of Maan and Yash. Geet at once rushed near Annie not noticing who all is present in the room and asked Yash, “Bhaiya, since how long has Annie been unconscious?”

“About an hour.”

“Can you please step aside? I need to examine her.” Yash gave way. Geet sat near Annie on the bed and first rubbed Annie’s feet, then her hands and finally pressed a nerve in Annie’s foot thereby reviving her instantly. (WRITER’S LIBERTY!) Bringing a gasp from Maan and Yash.

“Geet yeh kaise......?” (Geet how is this.......?)

“Annie ko bachpan se yeh problem hai. Annie is highly anemic therefore faints very easily and this is a non-allopathic method of treatment.” (Annie has this problem since childhood. Annie is highly anemic therefore faints very easily and this is a non-allopathic method of treatment.)

“Didi, didi, woh ganda Bhushan gaya? Usne Annie ke gale ko bahut zor se pakda. Magar Geet didi ne Annie ko bacha liya. Geet didi, humesha se Annie ki Fairy Godmother hai. Maan bhai aapko maloom hai ek baar Didi ne uss Bhushan ko dande se maara thaa aur uss Bhushan ne knife se Didi ke haath ko kata tha. Aur phir.......” (Didi, didi, has that bad Bhushan gone? He held Annie’s neck very tightly. But my Geet didi saved me. Geet didi is my Fairy Godmother. Maan bhai do you know that once Didi thrashed that Bhushan with a long wooden rod and Bhushan retaliated by slashing Didi’s arm. And then......)

“Annie, baccha abb naahegi dekho Annie ki dress kitni gandi ho gayi hai.” (Annie sweetie why don’t you take bath as your dress has become very dirty.)

“Haan, haan Didi, Annie ki dress gandi ho gayi. Shanta.....Shanta....” (Yes, yes didi, Annie’s dress has become very dirty. Shanta.....Shanta....) Shanta came and took Annie with her.

Once Annie had left, Geet said in depressed and dejected manner, “Hum abb uss Kulbhushan se ladhte-ladhte thakk gayen hain. Usse paisa chahiye toh hum usse paise de kar chutkara paayen kamse kam humari Annie toh theek rahegi.” (I’m now tired of continously fighting with that Kulbhushan. He wants money, I’ll give him money at least my Annie’s life will be safe.) Saying Geet broke down in tears.

Maan gathered Geet in his arms, sensing Maan’s presence, Geet looked up

and said, “Tabhi humne bahut koshish ki aapko aur abb Yash bhaiya ko apni aur Annie ki zindagi se door rakhen magar aap dono nahi maane. Hum dono ki zindagi mein khushi aur bahaar bann kar shaamil ko hi gaye. Hum doctor hain iss liye insaani zindagi ki keemat jaante hain varna hum dono kab ke........” (How much I have tried to keep you and now Yash bhaiya away from my and Annie’s life but you both refused to budge. You both came in our dull and colourless lives as colourful and delightful spring. I’m a doctor and I know how precious a human life is otherwise both of us would have........)

But Geet was beyond controlling, “Aisi zindagi ka kya faiyda jo har din darr-darr ke jiyo! Kash hum dono bhi Mom and Dad ke saath........” (What is the use of such life that each and every day we are living in fear of our approaching death. I wish we both would have also gone with Mom and Dad..........) Maan looked at Yash and signalled him with his eyes and mouthed words, “Call Dadimaa.”

“Geet tum ek doctor ho yeh depressing aur negative thoughts tumhein suit nahi karteen.” (Geet you are a doctor. Such depressing and negative thoughts don’t suit you.)

“Haan doctor hain magar ek insaan bhi hain.......Aur ek “Maa” bhi hote agar uss jallad ne..........” (Yes I’m a doctor but also a human being........And would have had a joy of being a “mother” if that executioner..........)

“Geet mai vada karta hoon ki uss kameene Kulbhushan ko humare unborn baby ke murder ke liye zarur saza dilwaonga.” (Geet I promise you that I’ll make sure that evil Kulbhushan gets the strictest punishment for the murder of our unborn child.)

“Mujhe mera baccha laa dijiye Maan please. Hum uske bina kaise jiye hain hum bayaan bhi nahi kar sakte.” (Maan please bring me back my child. I can’t tell you how I’ve managed to live without him?) Geet hugged Maan tightly but her tears refused to stop.

“Geet beta, bhagwan jo bhi karta hai acche ke liye karta hai!” (Geet my child, whatever God does he does it for the best!) Savitri Devi’s voice entered the room. Geet turned to see Savitri Devi entering the room, when Savitri Devi was standing near Geet, she indicated from her eyes to Maan to leave the room. Maan refused but after seeing his grandmother’s glare grudgingly left the room.

“Abhi aapko humari baat sahi nahi lagegi Geet beta, magar sahi yehi hai. Zara sochiye agar aapka baccha paida ho jaata toh Annie aur apni jaan ke saath-saath aapko uski bhi jaan ki chinta hoti.” (You may not agree with me now but you will soon. Just reflect if your child would have been born you would have been worried even about security of his life as well as Annie and yours!)

“Hum maante hain Dadimaa. Magar.......” (I agree Dadimaa but........)

“Beta, abhi sabse zaruri aapka aur Annie ka surakshit hona hai. Jiske liye aap dono ka shaadi-shuda hona zaruri hai.” (Geet, currently its most important that you and Annie are safe. And for that to be possible you both have to get married.)

“Hum jaante hai issi kaaran humne apne vivaah ki sweekriti di hai. Yeh jaante-bhujhte ki aisa karne se humare pyaar aur humare pati ka jeevan sankat mein ho sakta hai.” (I’m aware of that and that’s why I agreed to get married. Despite of knowing that by getting married I’m putting my love, my husband’s life in danger.)

“Geet, doctor ho kar bhi aapka humare dharmik ghanthon mein vishwas hai. Iss liye aapne Bhagvat Gita toh padhi hogi. Gita kya kehti hai? “Karm karo, phal ki iccha matt karo.” Aap bhi woh hi kijiye. Aap apna yeh “Dharmyudh” (battle of righteousness) pichle teihra saal se akele ladh rahi hain, abb aap Maan ko apna sehbhaagi banna kar is Dharmyudh mein pravesh karaiye. Yudh poori nishtha se ladhiye, paramatma avashiye hi aapki sahita karenge.” (Geet, you are a doctor but still belive in our religious scriptures. Hence, you must have read Bhagvat Gita. What does Gita say? “Do your duty, don’t bother about its result.” You also do that. You are fighting your “battle of righteousness” (Dharmyudh) for past 13yrs. alone, now include Maan also in your this ‘battle of righteousness’ as your life partner and enter the battlefield. Fight the battle with full faith and bravery and God will definitely help you.)

“Dadimaa, hum kaise uss haivaan se apni Annie aur khudh ka peecha chudhaiyen?” (Dadimaa, how do I get rid of that monster from Annie and my life?) Geet hugged Savitri Devi and poured her heart out.

“Dadimaa, hum hi manhoos hain ki pehle apne maa-baap ki mauth ka kaaran banne; phir apne pyaar aur pati ki peedha ka kaaran banne aur abb apni Annie ke taqleef ka. Chacha, Chachi aur Kulbhushan ne toh hummein zindah maarne ka poora chakravyuh rach liya thaa magar patta nahi hum kaise bach gaye?” (Dadimaa, I’m a “jinx”. Because of me first my parents passed away; then I gave my love, my husband so much pain; and now I’m reason for my Annie’s pain! Uncle, Aunt and Kulbhushan had made a perfect plot to kill me but I don’t know how I was saved.)

“Nahi beta aisi battein nahi kartein.” (No my child don’t be so pessimistic.)

“Dadimaa, humare kaaran inhein yaani humare pati ko itni peedha hui ki uss peedha dene ke liye hum apne aapko kabhi bhi maaf nahi kar sakte.” (Dadimaa, due to me “He” (Maan) has suffered so. I can never forgive myself for causing my husband so much pain.)

“Nahi beta, honi ke aage hum sab beibas hain. Aapki aur Maan ki judai ne inn teirah saalon mein, Maan ko thodi patience sikha di. Aur aapko Gynaecology and Obstetrics ke field mein ek qualified doctor. Agar uss samay aap dono saath rehte toh Maan ki insecurity aur possessiveness tumhein apni research aur MBBS ki degree poori nahi karne deti.” (No my child, we don’t know what our destiny/future holds. Maan and your seperation of 13yrs. Has taught Maan a little patience. The seperation has made you a qualified doctor in field of Gynaecology and Obstetrics. If that time Maan and you would have stayed together, Maan’s insecurity and possessiveness would not have let you complete your research and MBBS degree.) Savitri Devi’s practical and logic words made Geet see different aspect of past and made her slightly calm.

Savitri Devi then stated, “Geet beta, aaj toh Maan aur aapki shaadi nahi ho sakti hai, magar kal subah 08:00 baje ka muhurath nikala hai. Iss liye aap abhi araam kijiye, shaam se shaadi ki rasamein shuru hone lagengi.” (Geet, today Maan and you cannot get married but tomorrow in the morning at 08:00a.m. is the auspicious time (muhurath) for your wedding. Hence, now you rest as from evening pre-wedding ceremonies will start soon.)

Maan who was standing hidden away from Savitri Devi and Geet’s sight, heard their conversation and realised that he needs to be extra compassionate and patient with Geet as she is in deep pain as well as she has been fighting a battle of truth and integrity all alone for past 13yrs.! Ram supported by Priya and Sahil on either side had come to ask about twins health also heard about Geet’s pain.

What a wise woman dadi is. She made geet see reason and thus calmed her. Maan too realisingvhe can not loose patience when dealing with geet and that he has to stand by her. now he needs to take care of that Kulbushab
