Chapaak opened at almost 5 crores. This, despite the subject ( not entertaining). lack of screens, controversy over the JNU visit and the clash. It opened to this much due to Deepika's star power, and nothing else. People don't usually buy tickets to go for issue-based films.

I saw the film and screenplay is weak. The movie is not gripping or riveting enough. But Deepika is the strongest factor in the movie, she's given an amazing performance.

Sky is Pink and JHK opened to less, despite no clashes and far better trailers.

So, I think we can attribute this opening to Deepika's star power, which is still very much in place.

And many people told me she was bad and likes of pc kanagana would've done better. So u see acting is subjective. People getting negative wom about her acting skills. So no they are not interested to watch her crap acting

But topic is about star power and when movie flopped , u guys start sticking to acting. Keep the topic about star power but how could u justify it? I remember aapne ek time kaha tha that she is on par with madz and sridevi🤣4.25 crores for new sridevi lmao🤣 so she has zero star power and jnu visit didn't hurt her collections. Simple she has no box office pull. Even if u think jnu visit hurted, then she shouldn't have supported potential terrorists and goons.

Coming to the point, Deepika is at least consistent in her political stance. Swami and others left no stone unturned to prove her a foreigner during Padmaavat time. BJPs leader who threatened her to cut her nose was awarded by bjp later with some post. She has always shied away from bjp led programs.. Whatever her stance is whether I agree or not with the view she has been consistent.. If you remove your hater spectacles you can easily see that.

Rahi baat star power ki, let other give chhapaak like movie the opening she gave with all the govt backed negative publicity first then star power ki baat karenge

Because deepika is not perpetrator of some heinous crime. She stood beside some people who are anti establishment. Is that a crime which can be equated something like rape? If yes then bhakts are absolutely right in trending boycott chhapaak

I think case is clear. The star power she once had is sliding downwards. That being said no actress ever avoided a rough patch. Maybe next film she just has to think long and hard about it 👍🏼

Good does not always mean entertaining.. PK and padmavaat were entertaining movie while chhapaak is disturbing. Its an uneasy watch. If you watch the movie you will understand what i m saying..

they are not just anti establishment...those people as per the police investigation were very much a part of the violence that happened on the campus. So yea she might not be a perpetrator but she certainly chose to side with criminals. Not all crime is equally heinous but a crime at the end of the day is a crime.
