Let's reverse the roles and think in terms of that. Would Sonakshi be able to carry off a Piku and/or Chapaak? I don't think so.

What do you mean? Sonakshi did a great job in Lootera. Ranveer was not a star at that time. Piku also had Amitabh and Irfan Khan who have some star power of their own.

Chhapaak opened average for a woman-led movie. It's fine. The only reason it's getting bashed so much is because DP fans have put down other stars and movies continuously for years to inflate her star power.

I'm not talking about her acting, but star-power. She starred in numerous solo-lead movies, the latest being Khadaani something, which flopped big time.

I am saying Deepika is a bigger star than Sonakshi.

Also, I agree with you that Chapaak opened average( for whatever reasons).

Can be because of 2 reasons :

1. She has no star power

2. People hate kanhaiya so bad that everything by association becomes bad. 😅

I still believe Deepika is a bigger star than her contemporaries. But she took too much risk with Chapaak. As a producer, she should have first tried producing safe movies (Romcoms), then try to venture into difficult ones.

I have seen Panga's trailer. I feel, it will open better than Chapaak. (That movie looks lively and Kangana is a good actress) . But I will not consider Kangana a bigger star than Deepika. She cannot give as big openings to mainstream films as Deepika.

Panga clashes with Street Dancer, and I feel that will come into its way, though Panga looks like a far superior project.
