Also, the Muslim man being acid thrower in the film was a last minute change in the post production/dubbing etc to get nationalists support, but jnu episode was opposite. Tried to appeal to both sections and failed badly.

Deepika's movie opened around the same level as Sonakshi's Akira and Anushka's Pari. Actually all female-lead movies open around the same level.

Occasionally there is an outlier like Raazi or Manikarnika but I admit those had the desh bhakti angle.

Fun type movies with popular music also do a little better like Veere Di Wedding.

But point is proven that DP is no different than other actresses. Maybe now her fans should simmer down with their hatred of everyone else and trying to prove how much bigger DP is.

😂 I can't believe I'm going to say this seeing I've been a fan of SRK since my childhood and wouldn't watch a DP movie unless I heard really good reviews.

What you said here essentially boils down to this: SRK was beaten at the box office by a nobody like DP with re: Dilwale vs. Bajirao Mastani.

The hatred Deepika attracts on this forum is unbelievable. She's no better and no worse as a person than the rest of her contemporaries. As an actress, she is below average. As a star, she is the biggest in her group, and yes, that includes the men.

Varun's October opened at 5 crores. Ranbir's Bombay Talkies opened at 3.75 crores. These would be fair comparison to a movie like Chappak even if neither dealt with a disfigured protag. Ranveer's Lootera also did only 4.5 crores on opening day, but it was a while ago, and he hasn't done an arthouse type movie recently for fair comparison. As for Kangana, let her try an arty movie first, then they can compare. As an actress, Kangana is probably the best of that lot, but as a star? Nuh-huh.

DP fans should be happy SRK helped make her a star and move on with their lives. Behaving like this is why she gets hatred aimed at her.

She gets the same kind of opening as other female stars do. In fact, Kangana, Kareena and Alia regularly have more pull than her just on their own. DP fans keep hating on Anushka but Pari and Phillauri had similar openings. So did Sonakshi Sinha's Akira!

I'm reacting to the hatred I see in the post quoted within mine. I'm pointing out what that person's words implied.

When peeps try to make apples to oranges comparison when comparing masala movies to something like Chappak, they'll get oranges to grapes comparison in return.

You mean same opening as Varun (5), Ranbir (3.75), and Ranveer (4+) for artsy movies?
