Badla

A well-made thriller. But it copies the original moment by moment. Only the genders have been changed. It would have been better if they added some original twists.

There is a lot more focus on style over substance as well. I, in particular, noticed the immaculate outfits. With collar pins, cuff links, pocket squares, wool long coats the outfits were so well fitted and styled. The visuals were stunning too. I loved how so many scenes despite being full color have a monochromatic element of blue.

It could have been better.

Good News:-

First half is nice except the songs they destroy the pace and really boring.

Dabang 3:- OMG wat is bakwaas movie. Grrr

First time watched two movies in one day in cinema hall. -Good News and Dabang 3

My bad luck that both movies were competing for worst music award. Not a single gud song. I was so frustrated by this. Gaane ache nahi h toh mat daalo yaar. Sari pace ka naash kar dete a bakwas gaane. Specially in Good News. Movie thik thi par gaane ek se ek bure.

Good News was far better than Dabang 3 in every segment except songs department in which both sucked. Gud news has better acting, age appropriate couples, better story. In Dabang, khushi and chulbul looked like father-daughter specially when he was leaving her after admission in college. Horrible acting by everyone except Sudeep(only gud thing in dabang 3). Sudeep was so damn good in his part- cruel, menacing. His acting was so on point. When he was looking at khushi, he actually looked so creepy that one becomes afraid for khushi. Anyways he played his part perfectly. I really want to see Sudip more. Everyone else was super annoying. So much forced comedy. I am actually ashamed that I contributed to this movie's collection.

Good News whereas is one time good watch, except their original songs. Remove songs and movie is actually great. At one point you want to slap both the husbands specially when Monika and Deepu interact and one got to know that Honey is as neglectful as Varun. It brings out all the points nicely. Handles many issues without sounding like preachy whereas Dabang 3 tries to hard to be preachy.

A prominent film director named Rohan Khurana ( Rahul Bhat ) is accused of rape by an assistant of his film's costume maker . He pleads not guilty to the charges and hires an expensive lawyer named Tarun Saluja ( Akshaye Khanna ) to fight his case . The victim Anjali Dangle's ( Meera Chopra ) case is being handled by lawyer Hiral Gandhi ( Richa Chadda ) .

Tarun changes the testimony of his defendant to admitting that he had consensual sex with Anjali , that he was using his power and position in the film industry to get Anjali assignments for costume designing in return for sexual favours . But Anjali wanted a real relationship with him and when he refused she took revenge by charging him with rape . This destroys Rohan's relationship with his wife but gives him a chance to prove himself innocent .

Tarun then asks Anjali to come to the witness box and totally tears apart her rape accusations by showing how she made injuries on herself . So much so that her lawyer Hiral Gandhi herself is convinced that Rohan is innocent . But the judgement according to section 375 of the Indian penal code by the judges is that Rohan is guilty . So what was the point of the movie ? To prove how section 375 can be misused by jilted women to falsely implicate men in rape charges ?

The best part of the film is the arguments and counter arguments brilliantly presented by both sides in court , the best part being Tarun proving with statistics that India is not the rape capital of the world . The medical examination of the victim and the procedure of how police handle rape cases is also illuminated upon . In the end you do feel for the accused but that's how the legal systemworks .

Acting is good by everyone and colours photography background music is all okay .Some of the arguments in court are partly in English while some dialogues in the film are in the Marathi language as the victim and the police and one of the judges are shown to have Marathi as their mother tongue . It can be watched by the thinking audience , but one senses a lack of clear direction as to what was the point of the movie in the end .

Movie has few sex scenes, shown 2 times and Meera Chopra has performed it well,.... Few verbal graphic / Narration of the happenings,... is the interesting key area / Jaan , of da film , when she is been interrogated about rape in very minute details about what and how happened,..... ( reminded me of that Madonas' funny painful-rape Movie ) in every minute inquiries,...with police, doctor, courtrooms ,.. etc.. and that seems to the audience, even more interesting than those masturbating scenes by Swara in Veere Di Wedding,... ! Lol. Graphic narration of the sexual seduction description and court scenes arguments are interesting,... Film lot better holds you than that Article 15.

I love all court room drama scenes movies,.. be it Gambler, Hamraaz, Waqt(old), Dard, Kudarat, Lekin, Insaaf Ka taraaju,.. etc,.. hence, extra 0.35 points,...

Verdict--- Good .

DRIVING LICENSE - My again Review

Like I said earlier it is a li'l above decent film,..... not bad and I had
Decided to watch DL after hearing good reviews.

We have seen the story about a film star his fanboy a lot of times in the past. But this one scores big time with regard to the pace of the movie, the effortless acting of the leading men and more importantly, the movie successfully creates an emotional connect with the audience with regard to the personal lives of the leading actors on screen.

Its been a while since I saw Prithviraj going full throttle in a commercial entertainer (I haven't seen Brother's Day yet but it has bad enough reviews to keep me away ) Might need to go back to AAA or Pavada I suppose. Goes to show that with a decent script and scope to perform he can nail these roles with ridiculous ease. As actor Hareendran he was superb. He looked very fresh and special mention to his costume and hair designer. Suraj...what to say....what a year this guy had...!! The portrayal of Motor vehicle inspector Kuruvilla, a fanboy who is asked to do a favour for his idol and later circumstances making him go against his idol...Suraj (as always) just lived the role.

The crux of the story is about Hareendran trying to get a new license (as a replacement of his lost old license) which he has to submit along with other crew members of the film he is shooting currently to get the necessary approval for a sensitive shooting location under the Navy. Kuruvilla is given the task to help him by issuing his license quickly by his superior and by Hareendran's friend and politician Johny (Saiju Kurup). In return Kuruvilla asks a favour, that Hareendran should come and meet him in his office. Initially reluctant Hareendran agrees after the pressure from Johny. However, the meeting that Kuruvilla was so eagerly looking forward to finally meet his idol personally turns out quite the opposite way due to the turn of events preceding to the meeting.

The confrontations between Hareendran and Kuruvilla after that is brilliantly captured and there is not even a single dull moment in the film. There are no forced jokes or double meaning words and kudos to Lal Jr and Sachy for that.

The supporting characters all did a good job. Best of the lot are Saiju Kurup and Suresh Krishna, who plays as a rival actor to Hareendran. Miya who played Kuruvilla's wife also did well. All the other actors like Nandhu, Lalu Alex, Arun, Major Ravi...all played their part well. Salim Kumar's cameo was the only sore point.

All things said....a perfect popcorn entertainer that has some nice emotional moments.

War

With War, Bollywood gets its own mind-numbing, high octane, over the top action flick that might become a series like 'The Fast and the Furious'

Both leads look exceptional. The action is super slick. The film is a thrill ride from one outrageous stunt after another. It is unreal and unbelievable, but who cares. You cannot really find much wrong with this cheesy entertainer.

What was with the sexual chemistry between Hrithik and Tiger?

I had a very busy year in 2019 and wasnt able to watch some great movies of the year, so i am now catching up with the movies i missed.

1. Stree - It has been a while since i have laughed so hard while watching a movie. This movie had me laughing so hard that i couldnt breathe. Horror mixed with comedy mostly works, but this movie is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. I absolutely loved the cast and the dialogues are on point. I never knew i would like Shradda, but she is really good in this. She wasnt as bland as she was in her other movies.

2. Chhichhore - Gave me the feelings of 3 idiots and the performance of actors, story and directing is as per with 3 idiots. What a brilliant movie. Absolutely enjoyed every bit of this movie till the very end. I loved the message conveyed from this movie and i believe all the parents should watch and learn a lesson from this.

I loved the friendship between all of them. It was all so natural. Again the casting is perfect. Screenplay was at its best. I also loved the nickname of all of them. Anni, Sexa, Derek, Mummy, Acid, Bewda. I will definitely remember them.
