Going to the party has done more harm than good to Khushi. She is currently living in hell because of the divorce terms. She is feeling Arnav's presence everywhere which is she unable to fight against and thats giving her heartache.

How much longer before they live under one roof Jagruti as one happy family?

If they lived happily ever after so soon I’m afraid the story might just end ? ;)

Little more time bask in the emotions that come with a stray Arnav and Khushi hopefully all the more enjoyable when I do reconnect them.
thank you for always reading with so much fondness towards anything I write.

Sorry holiday season plus stuck in hospital today but hope you enjoy this, might brighten my day.

Chapter 5

The next day after the party as Arnav walked to the breakfast table at Raizada house Aditi looked at him funny.

Did you have a good night she said over the newspaper,

Not bad, pretty standard

Oh yeah, your on page three of this mornings newspaper.

Arnav raised an eyebrow taking the paper from his daughter. It was true in fact some journalist had caught them in a snapshot and was making a hoo ha about it.

That fat faced governance officer wont be pleased will he and Aman uncles probably pulling out his hair. Said aditi with a funny undertone.

Arnavs phone had already started to ring with calls from Aman.

With quite a headache Arnav cuts the call and shouts for his morning coffee.

Soon as Hp brings his coffee ASR leaves the breakfast table with his headache taking the newspaper with him as it had his beloved wife printed within it.

..

Similarly Khushi looks at the newspaper Aarav shows her and gets that little bit embarrassed.

It was however a nice picture of her and Arnav. A snap of them looking close as Arnav helped Khushi with her unruly dress in the wind. The headline however was speculative of the wrong thing.

That didn’t matter much as Aarav tore out the picture and stuck in to the kitchen fridge proudly.

Whilst Khushi takes her chai into the lounge Aarav wants to help out as promised and takes a stab at pending paperwork.

His mother was a great bussniess woman naturally she’d learnt a lot from her husband even if they had very distinctively different ideas on how a bussniess ought to be run, Aarav always remembered Khushi turning to Arnav for a expert opinion.

She’d gone from AR fashions to her own strand of AR which caused a lot of distress at home if he remembered anything of it when he was young and now she was following her passion of food and keeping on her fathers confectionary heritage.

She was a mother to be proud of not only for her motherly qualities but for her achievements in life. God she was a fine chef too, Aarav had already dipped into a a jar of hand made sweets.

The sugary kind and the sugar free all yummy. He had a lot to learn still.

As Aarav scrolled through invoices and orders he noticed how his mother had been tallying up earnings to help towards the family debt.

Of course there was nothing wrong with selling usual jalebis and his Khushi moms best recipes but what she needed was something new! A money maker.

He caught himself thinking like Aditi for a second. Maybe she would have ideas he thinks taking his phone out of his pocket.

..

“Adito!! - Need an idea

“What about coffee says aditi who is” inspired out of her own coffee making.

In no time at all had Aarav come up with a brand, a flavour, a new product.

He needed a second opinion now, the best person for this would have been Aman but he was unavailable and so the default was Riya Aunty.

“Erm .. why don’t I come over this weekend and help you hear all about it” says riya as she hears Aaravs idea. It was a date tied in with her catch up with Khushi.

Soon as Riya got off the phone with Aarav she knew the best thing to do was consult the best business man she knew.

“Arnav,

Aaravs thinking of a new business venture

Arnav was pleasantly surprised as he sat back in he worked at the poolside on his laptop.

“Coffee what do you think?”

Arnav as ever sharp had a confident answer for everything. “Over saturated market, more loss than gain but let him make his own mistakes he’ll learn.”

Claims Arnav but riya knew well that arnav saying this was all well and good but in reality mistakes cost a lot and he was the harshest to judge of them in the moment.

She wasn’t going to let Aarav make those mistakes.

...

That weekend as riya arrived in Mumbai the first port of call was shopping for the women. Clothes shopping, hand bag shopping, coffee and cake followed by a food shop.

In the isle of a supermarket did both friends mingle, gossip laugh and shop their way through food. Once they got to a particular isle riya began to nudge Khushi with her elbow.

“What?” She said as her friend was being funny.

Riya pointed her eyes animatedly at familiar looking man.

It was the gentleman from the party one of Amans acquaintances who had tried to flirt with Khushi.

Khushis eyes widened, thinking it was better to turn the shopping trolley around in the other direction whilst Riya suggested calling Arnav to scare the guy off again.

“Don’t ..” says Khushi knowing what could happen with that, both in the end laughing.

...

In the car whilst riya catches up khushi makes a quick call.

“Hp”

“Ji khushi bhabhi” hp answers the phone on pretty much every occasion as Khushi purposely times

“Ghar par sab kaisa hai?”

“Did you get your pay rise?”

“Sahab kaise hai?”

Theek hai kaam mein vyast rehte hai.

“Unki davayi, Khane ka khyal rakha ja raha hai na”

“Ji bhabhi” answers HP

As Khushi finishes the call riya steps into the car. It was more than apparent that Khushi missed Arnav immensely.

..

Khushi puts her food shopping on the counter whilst riya follows behind, not paying much attention to where Aarav is on her return in but when she does look up she sees the back of a tall dark handsome looking man in a white shirt, who looks pretty much like Arnav from behind.

Khushis heart skips a beat for a second at the thought of Arnav.

“Aap” she is just about to say when the figure turns around it is Aarav.

Aarav dressed formally in a shirt, looking very much like his father.

Khushi swallows a lump in a throat a second her eyes feel mellow, she walks out leaving Aarav wondering what was wrong.

As she walks past Riya, the catch of a gaze between the two women and a friend obviously sees the upset.

Riya walks into the lounge to spend time with Aarav on his business thinking, she too sees the resemblance between a formally dressed Aarav and Arnav. They looked much a like even to the shock of a normally realist riya.

“It’s nothing, says Riya, tapping Aarav on the shoulder who was no longer the little kid but a highly perceptive adult.

....

Back in the corridor Khushi takes a minute to herself, “ I suggest you be pragmatic about this” she remembers Arnavs words but along with them their love and relationship and more so him just him, she was the emotional kind and this asked a lot of her.

..

Sometime later

Khushi walks in to talkative room. Aarav and Riya seemed busy. When Khushi walked in Aaravs eyes were a sparkle of excitement.

“I’ve decided to go out and get some catering contracts for us.”

He said proudly, Khushi smiled she was happy with whatever his ambitions were not knowing that Riya had moved him towards the idea.

“There’s just one thing,” Aarav said a little unsure, one of the pitches is to AR.

Khushi met with Aaravs eyes and knew there was apprehension around this.

AR meant pitching to his father, Khushi could respond either of two ways defer him or encourage him.

Khushi knew the right thing was encouragement particularly here and now. Arnav would only be proud to see his sons entrepreneurial side.

She smiled, good luck, there’s something I want you to have she said.

Bringing forward a tie pin, Arnavs tie pin the one he’d used to fasten her dress at the party. Khushi fastens it to Aaravs tie, now he was ready. Recognising it as his fathers Aarav feels privileged as Khushi sits her hands over his tie. Adjusting it into place.

“You could come with me suggests Aarav, for moral support”

...

*Next chapter*

Khushi entered his office whilst Aarav went on to his board meeting to win his catering pitch.

There was something nostalgic about the space.

.. later on

“I think I messed up” - says Aarav as he comes out of the AR boardroom after facing his father walking towards Khushi.

As Khushi her sons predicament and watches Arnav walk out into the corridor she whispers into Aaravs ear.

Taking heed from his mother Aarav walks towards his father stopping him in his steps as he walked with Aman.

“Dad” Aarav called out, Arnav turned around to see Aarav walking towards him. Aman gave them space.

Aarav walked closer and touched his fathers feet. Pulling on his heartstrings like that worked everytime, that was something Khushi knew.

Arnav patted aarav on the shoulder, “I’m proud of you son, well done - a little bit rough around the edges but good work non the less.”

He said with meaningful eyes and that meant a lot to Aarav. As was it heart warming for Khushi to see, Aarav felt like all his mistakes had been overpowered by what felt like Arnavs approval.

Passing khushi by intentionally Arnav pauses momentarily.

“His proposal is weak slide 4, 6 and 12.” He says, Khushi dips her eyes exactly the same way she would have all those years ago when he gave her feedback on her work. More so as Aarav was under Khushis wing.

“He’ll work on it” - she said reassuring him in some ways asking him to be a little lenient but he was well aware of his sons ability that didn’t need advocating.

Whilst Khushi was under the impression she’d done a bad job as a mother and a mentor Arnavs mind was in a different place .

“Thank you Khushi you’ve done a wonderful job with our son.” He said before waking away.

..

please let me know what you think

Why would she think she did a bad job if the proposal was weak? Its not a reflection on her skills as a mother.

i thought Arnav will become more cruel and spread rumors of his affair with some other woman to hide the reality of their relationship....... thank god he didn't do so yet and hope he doesn't in future too.....

Khushi is too emotionally involved, which is good, but sometimes i feel Arnav doesn't care as much as he should've......

what about that guy who flirted with her, will he create some misunderstanding ?
