I thought this guy was. dating some man LOL, given the rumors of him being toyboy of Kjo at one time

people are voyeur by nature, that is why the so called "reality" shows are so popular. As for why people support him, woh toh pata nahi, apart from fans, maybe those support him, hate others in the Bigg Boss house, against whom Shukla is pitched, you know how most of us(including me) supported the obnoxious Hina Khan, because she was against the idiot called Shilpa Shinde.

Bb promotes him, makes promo showing others as villains , voot and colors Twitter handle promote him as victim and other as villains instigating

Then Salman is supporting him since week 1 , so casuals start believing his twisted narrative coz Salman the superstar have said it.

In first two three weeks he wasn't wrong , so ppl start supporting than and now won't go back or change their position , coz that would be accepting they supported wrong person.
