CHAPTER 17 (b)
ALL THE NAMES & PLACES ARE FICTITIOUS (if any resemblance to persons & places is purely coincidental). Any MEDICAL PROCEDURES, MEDICAL TERMS, RELIGIOUS TERMS, Punjabi terms, architectural terms, IT terms & programs, hospital/office hierachy, wedding rituals, etc. are from my imagination hence THEY ARE NOT TRUE.
ALL THE PHOTOGRAPHS DOWNLOADED DO NOT BELONG TO ME BUT BELONG TO THE ORIGINAL UPLOADER. I HAVE JUST USED THEM AS THEY GO WITH MY STORY!

“NAME DR. MISHRA.” Savitri Devi thundered.
“Dr. Maan Singh Khurana.”
“Just as I expected. Dr. Khurana would you care to explain the reason behind your actions?”
“Dadimaa, I.......” Savitri Devi glared at Maan, thereby making Maan change his way of addressing his grandmother, “Ma’am, I did not want anyone working in Khurana Hospitals who was not upto the mark.”

“Who asked “you” to judge which staff is qualified to be or not to be in Khurana Hospitals? Are you Dean of Dhanvantri (Khurana) Hospitals? Are you Administrative Head of Dhanvantri (Khurana) Hospitals?”
“No...but....” Maan didn’t know how to answer.
“Dr. Maan Singh Khurana you are neither a consulting physician in Khurana (Dhanvantri) Hospitals nor do you have any Administrative authority at Khurana (Dhanvantri) Hospitals.” Savitri Devi thundered. “Therefore you have no right to terminate any doctor, nurses or paramedical staff.” Looking at Anjali, Savitri Devi said, “Dr. Kavyanjali Mishra, you are re-instated and your contract is not terminated. Also, due to lack of professionalism by Khurana (Dhanvantri) Hospitals’ Management you will paid a compensation of Rs. ******* by Khurana Hospitals. And.......”

“Excuse me Ma’am for interrupting you, but I was anyway going to resign as I was going to return in three months time to US. Now as I’ve already give my resignation in writing, the clause of three months of notice period before leaving the job can come into effect. Furthermore Ma’am no compensation is needed as it was a misassumption by the Hospital Management. I shall now leave.”
“WAIT DR. MISHRA. I would like you and Dr. Khurana to clear your misapprehensions and misunderstandings before you leave Khurana (Dhanvantri) Hospitals.” Looking at three men present, Savitri Devi announced, “Dr. Shashank Gupta, Dr. Dinesh Mathur and Ranjit, lets give Dr. Mishra and Dr. Khurana privacy to sort out their differences.”
Once the elders had left, Anjali got up from where she was sitting and was about to pick up her handbag and leave when Maan came and towered over Anjali breathing fire, "Tum apne aap ko samjhati kya ho? Dadimaa, Dad, Dada aur Mathur uncle ke saamne tumne mujhe embarass aur insult kiya. Abb dekho mai kya karta hoon. Tumne sirf Maan Singh Khurana ka pyaar dekha hai gussa nahi.” (What do you think of yourself? How dare you embarass and insult me in front of Dadimaa, Dad, Dada and Mathur uncle? Now see what I’ll do. You have only seen Maan Singh Khurana’s love and not his anger.)

“Dr. Khurana, aaj aur abhi se humara aapse koi professional sambhandh nahi hai. Unfortunately personal sambhandhan hai kyunki aap Geet didi ke pati hain. Magar woh sambhandh bhi khatam ho gaya hai Geet didi ki mauth ke baad.” (Dr. Khurana, from today and now we both don’t have any professional relationship. Unfortunately we have personal relationship as you are my sister, Geet’s husband. But that relationship has now also dissolved after Geet didi’s demise.) Anjali was trying to hold on to her temper and answer Maan formally.

“Humara relation khatam nahi ho sakta kyunki TUM GEETANJALI HO MERI PATNI.” (Our relation cannot end as YOU ARE GEETANJALI, MY WIFE.)
“Dr. Khurana, aap ek reputed aur experienced Cardiologist hone ke baad bhi sattiya (senile) gaye hain.” (Dr. Khurana, despite of being a reputed and experienced Cardiologist, you have become senile.)
“KYA? Mai sattiya (senile) gaya hoon? Tumhara dimag toh thikane par hai ladki.” (WHAT? I’m not senile. You have become crazy, girl.)
“Dr. Khurana, iss beihass ka koi end nahi iss liye hum jaa rahe hain. Good bye.” (Dr. Khurana, there is no end to this arguement therefore I’m leaving. Good bye.)
“THEHRO! Jab tak mujhe mere sawaalon ke jawab nahi milte tum kaheen nahi jaa sakteen.” (WAIT. You cannot leave until you’ve answered all my questions.)
“Theek hai. Today for once and all I’ll clear all your misapprehensions. Ask all your doubts and questions and I’ll answer them best to my ability.”
“Tumhare maa-baap ka kya naam hai?” (What is your parent’s name?)
“Lakshmi Narayan Mishra and Mahalakshmi Mishra.”
“Tum kahaan ki citizen ho?” (You are citizen of which country?)
“US ki.” (I’m a US citizen.)
“Tumhare ghar mai kaun-kaun hai?” (What is your family composition?)
“Humare parivaar mein kewal ek sadasye theen humare Mom aur Dad ki death ke baad woh thi ‘Geet didi’ magar abb woh bhi iss duniya mein nahi.” (There was only one family member in my family after my parent’s death and that was my ‘Geet didi’. But now even she is not in this world.) Maan stiffened hearing about Geet’s demise but controlling himself asked, “Tum kissi Yash Khanna ko jaanti ho?” (Do you know anyone by the name of Yash Khanna?)
“Nahi. Kyun? Kaun hai woh?” (No. Why? Who is he?)
“Agar tum sach mein “Kavyanjali” hoteen toh tum Yash ko jaanteen kyunki Yash tumse pyaar karta thaa magar tum Yash ko ek accha dost samjhteen theen. Aur sabse bada saboot.........” (If you were really “Kavyanjali”, you would know Yash. Because Yash was head over heels in love with you, whereas you considered him a good friend. And the biggest proof is........)

Maan came near Anjali and tugged at the gold chain with peacock pendant present in Anjali’s neck saying, “Yeh “mangalsutra” Geet ke devangath shareer par hota tumhare gale mein nahi. SAMJHEEN!” (This “mangalsutra”. Which instead of being found Geet’s dead body is found on your neck. Understood.)
“Dekhiye Dr. Khurana, apne kissi neeji ko khone ka dard kya hota hai hum samjhte hain magar aap jo hummein samjh rahe hain woh hum nahi hain. Humari raaye maaniye aur aap apna ghar phirse bassa lijiye. Hummein maloom hai ki humari tehre aapko bhi sach ko apnane mein waqat lagega magar Geet didi toh abb........” (Listen Dr. Khurana, I can empathise with you and understand your pain at loosing ones loved one but I’m not whom you are thinking me to be. I will suggest that you move on with your life and get married again. I know that you will take time to accept Geet didi’s death just like I.......)

“KHABARDAAR! Jo tumne Geet ke baare mein kuch bura bola kyunki TUM HI GEET HO.” (DON’T YOU DARE say anything bad against my Geet! Because you are my Geet.) By now Maan’s patience and self control finally broke and he bursted, “Maine tumse apne pyaar ka izhar tehra saal pehle kiya thaa toh tumhei lagta hai ki mai tumhare saamne abb girgiraonga bhi ! Nahi! KABHI NAHI!” (I had easily confessed my love for you thirteen years back so you thought that now also I’ll beg you for my love. NO! NEVER!)

“Dekhiye Dr. Khurana, aap.......” (Listen Dr. Khurana, I think.......)
“Tum mujhe kya samjhti ko ek rah chalta bheekari. Ki mai tumse pyaar ki bheekh maangta rahoonga. Yeh tumhari galatfehami hai. Mai ameer hoon, dekhne mein accha hoon, aur ek well established doctor hoon, mai jiss ladki ko chahoon woh meri bahon mein paanch minute mein ho sakti hai. (Maan made a clicking noise with his fingers) Mujhe tumse pyaar thaa kyunki tum ek bholi-bhaali, seedhi-saadhi aur dil ki saaf ladki theen. Par mai galat tha! Maine kabhi sapne mein bhi nahi socha thaa ki tum ek dhokke baaz ho jo apna man bhehlane ke liye mujhe phasana chahti ho.” (Geet, you think I’m a roadside beggar that I’ll beg for your love. Then you are under misapprehension. I'm rich, handsome, unattached and well established doctor. I can get any girl I desire in my arms within minutes just like this. (Maan made a clicking noise with his fingers) I fell in love with you because you were innocent, simple and a pure hearted girl. What was in your heart was on your tongue! But I was mistaken. I had never thought even in my dreams that you are just a fraud and playing with me to amuse yourself.) Maan said in anger.

“Dr. Khurana, aap pehle bhi galatfehmi mein the aur abb bhi hain. Humne aapko teen saal pehle hi Geet didi ki mauth ka raaz batta diya thaa. Magar aap maan naa nahi chahte toh hum kya kar saktein hain?” (Dr. Khurana, you were under misapprehension three years back and even now are still misinformed. I had told you the whole truth about my sister, Geet and even about her death three years back. But if you don’t want to believe me what can I do?)
“Theek hai agar tum Geet nahi ho toh kewal mere ek sawaal ka jawaab do ki yeh “Geet ka mangalsutra” tumhare gale mein kya kar raha hai?” (Alright if you are not Geet then just answer my this question. ‘what is “Geet’s mangalsutra” doing in your neck?’)
“Hummein nahi maloom. Humara gyarah (11) saal pehle accident hua thaa. Jab hum hosh mein aaye toh humne yeh chain jisse aap “Geet didi ka mangalsutra” keh rahe hain apne gale mein paya. Jab humne Chote Papa se poocha toh unhone kaha ki yeh humare Mom aur Dad ne Geet didi ko birthday gift diya thaa uski 18th birthday par.” (I don’t know. I had met with an accident eleven (11) years back. When I regained my consciousness this chain which you call “Geet didi’s mangalsutra” was in my neck. When I asked Chote Papa about it, he said that Mom and Dad had gifted it to Geet didi on her 18th birthday.)
“JHOOT BILKUL JHOOT! Tum bhi baaki ladkiyon ki tehre nikaleen. Woh mujhe paise ke liye phasana chahti theen aur tum bhi mujhe apna mann bhelane ke liye phasana chahti ho. Bas itna difference hai ki woh direct baat karti tum sophisticated aur lacchedaar (twisted) baatein karti ho! Jaise ki Geet marr gayi; tumhare peeche gunde padhe hain wagher....waghera.....Mujhe nahi maloom thaa ki ek ameer, well educated aur cultured maa-baap ki beti itna gir sakti hai! Tum mere saath apna mann bhelana chahti ho toh theek hai. Tum jaisi ladkiyon ko society ne kayeen naam diye hain jaise “mistress”, "call girls" wagehra. Toh batao Dr. Kavyanjali Mishra, kya rate hai tumhara ek raat ka? Mai tumhare saat pura sau (100) raatein yaa agar tum mujhe pasand aayeen toh usse bhi zyada din bittana chahta hoon. Iss liye........." (LIES! ABSOLUTE LIES! You are also like other girls. They also want to woo me as I’m rich whereas you wanted to woo me for your sexual pleasure. Only difference is that they come straight to the point whereas you beat around the bush. Like Geet is dead; you are being followed by goons etc....etc....I didn’t know that daughter of affluent, educated and cultured parents can stoop so low. You want to fulfill your sexual desires with me fair enough. Girls like you have been given few names by society which are “mistress”, "call girls" etc. Hence, Dr. Kavyanjali Mishra please tell me what are your charges for one night? I want to spend with you at 100nights and if I find you pleasureable then maybe few nights more. So........) There was tight sound of slap echoing in the room!!
Anjali who was initially sympathetic towards Maan’s pain at loss of her sister then it turned to professional courtsey as Maan was son of her employers whom she respected a lot. But finally her sympathy and professionalism lost to the Maan’s insulting of her respectable parents! Anjali was fuming and her temper was now beyond calming. Anjali gave a tight slap to Maan saying,

"Abb hum bolte hain aur aap suniye! KHABARDAAR jo beech mei toka. Hum bhi pichle teen saalon se AAPKI galatfehmiyaan aur kuch dino se aapki badtameeziyaan bardaash kar rahe hain kyunki aapke parivaar yaani Dadimaa aur RK Sir ke bahut ehsaan hain hum par. Hum kiss khandaan se hain, naa toh aap samajh sakte hain aur nahi aapki aukaat (right/status) hai jaan ne ki! Aapne kya kaha thaa ki aap "ameer hain, dekhne mein accha hain, aur ek well established doctor hain, aap jiss ladki ko chahein woh aapki bahon mein paanch minute mein hogi." Aapko yeh battane ki zaroorat nahi kyunki har akhbaar ki surkhiyaan aapki rangeen raaton ka aur aaiyashiyon afsaana dohrati hain. Iss liye aapko aisi ladkiyaan mubarak ho. Magar woh ladki Kavyanjali Mishra nahi hai. Aapko apni sundar hone ka ghammand hai toh hota rahe, kyunki woh aapki galatfehmi hai. Dr. Maan Singh Khurana, aap mei koi surkhab ke parr nahi hain ki hum aap par mar mitenge! Aapko aapki daulat mubarak ho hummein apna swabhimaan atyanth priye hai. Aur jahaan tak aapka ameer, sabhya aur pratishthit parivaar se hone ki baat hai woh aapki mehnat se nahi magar woh aapko, aapke baap-dadaon ne apni virasit mein diye hain. Aap toh apne bal boote par kewal ek aaiyyash, badtameez, ghammandi aur swarthi ameerzaade hain jinhein “MAI”, “MAINE”, “MERA” ke aage kuch nahi dekhta. Iss liye Dr. Maan Singh Khurana, agar aap iss dharthi par aakhiri purush bhi hote toh bhi yeh Kavyanjali Mishra aapke paas nahi aayegi! Shehri ladkiyon ko aapke paise aur aapke sundarta ki chakka-chaundh andha banna deti hogi hummein nahi. Humare jeevan mein ek badtameez, aaiyaash, khudhgarz aur ghamandi insaan ki koi jageh nahi. (Now I will talk and you listen. Don’t you dare interrupt! I’m also bearing your misapprehensions for past three years as well as disrespectful behaviour for last few days only as I’m under Dadimaa and RK Sir’s obligations. To which family I belong, neither can you understand nor do have status to know about it. What did you say “I'm rich, handsome, unattached and well established doctor. I can get any girl I desire in my arms within minutes just like this.” Well you need not broadcast this as all newspapers’ headlines are filled with your wild and characterless escapades. Hence, you are most welcome to such girls! But Kavyanjali Mishra is not such a girl. You are proud of your good looks well thats your opinion. But according to me Dr. Maan Singh Khurana, you are not God’s gift to Mankind that I’ll fall for you. You can cling to your wealth and status as for me only my self respect is important. As far as your coming from rich, cultured and affluent family is concerned that was not due to your hardwork but it was given to you by your ancestors and you have no role in it. You in your own right are characterless, disrespectful, arrogant, rich and selfish brute whose world only revolves around “ME”, “MY” and “MINE”. Hence, Dr. Maan Singh Khurana if you were the last man in this universe, Kavyanjali Mishra will still not come to you. Girls from big cities may get swayed by your wealth and looks but not me. Because there is no place in my life for a characterless, disrespectful, arrogant, rich and selfish man.)
“Why you scratching wild cat. HOW DARE YOU.....” Maan raised his hand to prevent Anjali from leaving but Anjali misassumed that Maan wants to attack her.

Anjali held Maan’s outstretched arm and flicked it thereby resulting in unsuspecting Maan’s body somersaulting in the air and Maan landing on his backside on the carpeted floor.

Anjali stepped over Maan’s prostrate body lying on the carpeted floor and walked away saying in anger, “Have a nice day, Dr. Maan Singh Khurana! I hope we never meet again!"
Unknown to Anjali and Maan, their this violent exchange was viewed by Savitri Devi, Ranjit Singh Khurana (RK) and Dr. Shashank Gupta. The three elders were worried about Anjali’s physical and emotional safety as they were well aware of Maan’s anger. Savitri Devi and Ranjit Singh Khurana (RK) were ashamed when they walked in the attached room to Chairman’s Office to hear Maan giving a disgusting proposal to Anjali. They also heard and saw Anjali giving a befitting response to Maan. The three elders hid themselves just in time when Anjali barged out of the Chairman’s Office in anger
