Default FROZEN 2 - My IMAX 3D Review

Hard to believe it has been 5 years since Frozen released. Honestly I have lost count of how many Elsa dolls, Frozen themed dresses and other Frozen stuffs we bought so far for our daughter. She was almost 4 when the first film released but the impact of the first movie was so huge that she kept on accumulating Frozen themed items for the next 2-3 years. She knew the 'Let it go...' song by heart at that age due to the countless repeat viewings in the DVD and TV channels. So when a movie that made such a big impact with the kids (and adults too) gets a 2nd part everyone who enjoyed the hysteria of Frozen in 2013 is obviously looking forward to it.

If the first Frozen told us about the magical powers of Elsa and her struggles to contain her powers which resulted in her self imposed exile from the outer world and her sister Anna, running away from her country, her people and her sister so that she won't bring harm to any, Anna's search for Elsa with the help of Kristoff and his reindeer Swen and Olaf (the snowman created by Elsa) and finally the film shows the definition of True love between the sisters.

Fast forward 5 years you have Frozen 2. If the first movie showed Elsa's struggle with her magical powers, Frozen 2 is about the journey by the sisters to uncover the mystery about Elsa's magical powers. Kristoff, Olaf and Swen accompanies them on this adventure to an enchanted forest to solve the puzzle. During the journey Elsa and Anna learns about the dark truths about their ancestors and story of betrayals. Elsa aims to correct the mistakes done by her ancestors and make the life beautiful again for the people affected by their sins.

The film has a very engaging plot line and Disney has taken every step to ensure that the sequel is as good or better than the first one. Visually the film is a spectacle and leaves the viewer spellbound with immaculate animation and CGI as is the case with all the Disney movies.

Performance wise, Idina Menzel (Elsa), Kirsten Bell (Anna), Jonathan Groff (Kristoff) and Josh Gad (Olaf) are in top form. Josh Gad gets some of the best lines in the movie and he makes everyone chuckle with Olaf's character.

Music which had such a huge impact with the first Frozen movie has the same impact here too. If 'Let it go...' was the kids anthem from 2013 be prepared for the next anthem 'Into the unknown' from Frozen 2. Songs are brilliant and it grows on you upon listening to the jukebox after watching the movie. My personal favourite is 'All is found' a lullaby sung by the mother of Elsa and Anna.

Frozen 2 - Yet another feather in Disney's cap.

My rating :- 3.35 / 5

Frozen 2

I can't get to work before 9 Am, but I woke up to get to Frozen 2 bright and early at 7:30 AM. That is how much I loved the original Disney classic. It completely subverted the traditional fairy tale tropes and made a brilliant story.

There are a few unanswered questions after the first movie. How is Elsa magical? What actually happened to their parents? Frozen 2 answers these questions. Elsa and Anna along with Kristoff, Olaf, and Sven venture out to find answers about the past. Disney once again outdoes itself with gorgeous animation and enchanting storytelling.

The only place where the sequel really lacks to me is the soundtrack. But at least Jonathon Groff gets a song. And my oh my, Brendon Urie's rendition of "Into the Unknown" is pure magic. Gosh, Brendon's "Into the Unknown" are almost as "Defying Gravity" level legendary. (Yes Defying Gravity is not Frozen, its Wicked, but it is Idina Menzel's best song, Defying Gravity is Let It Go on super magic awesome steroids)

I still prefer the original but my friend thought the sequel is much better in terms of character development.

PS: Elsa didn't get a girlfriend. BUT she is super queer fo sho.

The Spy

Is that really Sacha Baron Cohen? Did the man behind crude characters like Borat, Bruno, and Ali G just pull off a stunning drama?

Telling the story of famous Israeli spy Eli Cohen, The Spy is all about Sacha Baron Cohen. From overzealous recruit who almost messes up to spy extraordinaire who is successful beyond imagination, Sacha's Eli is handsome, charming, and disarming. He's such an underrated actor.

To be honest, going in, I was wary of a biased narrative. But like Raazi, The Spy holds onto humanity in its narrative. One place where it excels is exploring the toll it takes on family back home. Every frame with Nadia is heartbreaking, you just want Eli to be done and come home to his wife. One of the most poignant scenes for me is where Nadia is appealing for clemency for Eli. She doesn't speak in the scene. Her lawyer does all the talking. But her stoic yet tearful silence speak volumes. Many movies/shows ruin such moments with flowery dialogue - but the silence is far more resounding. Eli too suffers a lot of mental anguish as he has to manipulate people who trust and befriend him. Despite being an enemy spy, there is a lot of human ruefulness amidst his Syrian acquaintances during his execution.

The only downside is that the narrative can be grindingly slow at times. There are moments in every episode that can be painfully dull before something of note happens. Some of it is setting the stage and character building, but I think it could have been edited better.

Recently watched Tumbbad and Mind blown! Beyond any words - can't express it in words - kind of a ride is Tumbbad. I resisted for so long watching this great piece of work, it's really not the kind of movies I like (-at least that's the impression I got from the trailer) .. but the moment you start it, you can't not keep watching it! It's ridiculously underrated a movie (-underrated in a sense not many talked about it)!

I hope this movie recovered it's budget and made profit since movies like these need to be made again and again!

5/5 most definitely and not be missed at all. It should be ranked with those movies which should be watched at least once (-if not more) in your lifetime!

Why can't movies like these make it to the Oscars?!

Chhichhore

Loved the movie. Thoroughly entertaining.

The cast did an amazing. Shraddha not only looked gorgeous but did an amazing especially her crying scenes were perfect. The scenes between her and Sushant when they say sorry and cry was really well executed.

Movie has repetitive value. A little 3 idiots vibe but better.

Orange is the new black S7

The finale season made me so emotional. It was agreat journey. One of my favourite show ever. Tasha Jefferson had the best character growth. She stays with you. She is the true star of the show. It was nice to see Nicky taking over Red's kitchen duty and Flaca deciding to help detainees like Gloria. Truly admirable. I'll miss the show.

Yeah kind of sad seeing Daya going down and down cause I was rooting for her in earlier seasons. My favourite characters are Taystee and Red.

Danielle Brooks wrote this farewell song for the casts. It was really great to see them using as credit song at the end. Felt like it was Taystee's journey all along not Chapman's.
