The game has ended with blatant support from BB and host to Shukla... Everyone in the house knows that Shukla is winning... What's surprising is how you can actually witness how dictators are generated and how people have no choice but slave...
It's not about this show anymore... It's about "Bahar jakar Kam karna hai na" as Salman put it in front of Asim...
There's no individuality among contestants... ,
Shukla reminds me of Joffrey Lannister, he gets whatever he wants because his daddy is the king... And whoever tried to cross him... Daddy will kill him. There's Sana, who is close to Shukla so none says anything to her....There are peasants like Devoleena and Rashmi none cares about them, there are cunning people who are part of Shukla's core group, who think they are not slaves.... Shukla is listening to them and working according to them... There is a complete devotee like Arti... There are rebels who want to end his rule but can't....
Asim decided not to work in Shukla's captaincy... Shukla and team didn't work in Himanshi's captaincy and she got punishment... Shukla threatened Asim of the consequences and he had to bow down....
It is fascinating how one can arm twist people into being part of a tyranny... And at the same time very sad how easy it is to force people into slavery
Note - There was no attempt to correlate anything to real world and problems of people in who are in these circumstances..
Interesting perspective and food for thought.
I do not think what seems like a dictatorship was scripted unless it is all scripted. There were interviews of Sid and Rashmi’s colleagues who attest to the fact that they were cordial towards each others, but he was hot tempered in general. A lot of the sympathies for Sid wrt a non GEC audience began with Rashmi dissing him (justly or unjustly) behind his back throughout her pre elimination days. She was repeatedly warned by external intervention that it was not doing good to her image (she was or still is their scripted winner) Sid’s anger felt justified under the circumstances and it felt like there was a lot of deliberate triggering at him from her and others for a reaction and footage. And to his advantage, he wasn’t dissing about her or beating anyone up to for the audience to completely disown him. First impressions matter from mass audience perspective and the first week was critical in polarizing audience preference.
Salman flung “bahar jakar kaam...” to Sid too consistently. And to Asim. It’s a reference to anger management and producer perspective on work ethics. Not a warning to not cross Shukla. Why would you say that? He doesn’t have as many strings as you make him out to have.
There wasn’t any individuality in many of the “popular” contestants from the very beginning, even before Sid’s “reign” began. Koena was the only one who stood out, as much as I disliked her. Shefali Bagga and Dey too to an extent. Sana, yes. All others had no real skills or personality or depth to showcase. Nothing that holds or captures mass audience interest, rather. They have their niche audiences nevertheless and good for them.
I completely disagree with your comment on Sana. She doesn’t get any favors at all from the fact that she is with Sid. Really? She has never been considered for captainship, no one’s been afraid to nominate her, she’s gone to jail, she has self admittedly been alone at her washing dishes duty spot until she just had it once, she is constantly mocked directly or indirectly by HMs- what are you talking about? But she has played her game well considering all limitations and worked around things and leveraged then to her advantage. Kudos to her for that.
People who haven’t got attention inside the house are those who haven’t been proactive and creative and those who haven’t justified their weekly payment cheque. Don’t blame it on Sid. Ofcourse there will be a core group. Democracies have core group cabinets and dictatorships too, less transparently so. Read Lord of the Flies, right? Wherever there are humans and societies, leaders emerge advertently or not so and core groups too. What we see in the house too is as organic as can be expected from a reality show.
The reason for non-cooperation for Himanshi’s captaincy was herself. Her competency and strategy during the task was dismal as was her lying and it was commonly realised here that she lied to even the host on his face. Would you still say that it’s dictatorship at work? That’s pretty twisted an idea of dictatorship if any random WC can lie and be trusted by some with captaincy, that too, against the de facto king!
I agree with the finishing statement though- some people exert their will and some do not and thrill in subservience. Shehnaaz never played to Sid’s desires. Still doesn’t. Aarti still does to a large extent and that’s her hamartia. Some leaders are made and some are born. Sid as the unsaid leader was made here on BB.
As for the host and BB, I agree there have been interventions. But then, there have been enough and more warnings sounded out too. Was Sid evicted for his transgressions? No. But then, neither was Rashmi or Devoleena for not performing. They have all been the championed prospective show winners of the season with a fixed fan base and evicting none would be business sense. So, at the end of the day, the show runs on content and expected content, and business and ROIs more than anything else. I see no dictatorship here, just society as its patterns have been since human existence.
