I think the judges are deliberately needling Akshaya. Yesterday she almost flawlessly sang A R Rahman's classic (that too the hindi+tamil version). Though she got a distinction and merit, Gupte and Mahesh were a bit critical about some small technical flaws. Mahesh explained that their expectations from her are so high that is the reason they are pointing out such small things. Then one of the judges (was it Gupte?) let the cat out the bag and reminded her how they had not given her genius as per her expectations in one of the earlier weeks and this had goaded her to come back next week and give a superlative performance beyond genius. But is it really fair on her to use this negative policy to make her excel?

Mahesh Kale's comments and his command over Marathi takes the show to a different level. I've been fortunate to watch him sing live and what a memorable experience that was.

I haven't had a chance to watch her performance yet so my comments are based off past shows. Yes, I did notice that past couple performances she was measured with a different yardstick. It is not fair taking into account her age and experience. I feel that she is very sincere to her craft and works above and beyond to give her best. It would be demotivating for someone her age. Though she is a trooper IMO.

Watched Akshaya's performance and I agree with judges, she did falter a bit. Though her's was the best performance among all so far this week. IMO. Singing to any AR Rahman composition is no child's play. And she did it exceedingly well in 2 languages. On another note, I fully echo AG's sentiment/comment about that song. That song is special and brings back teenage years fond memories for me too. 😊

Some points (my view) for this week:

Shravani really was outstanding.

Raju is a disappointment for me. He never attempts anything beyond his comfort zone of sufi songs. OTOH Munnawar is trying out different things and succeeding.

Akshaya landed in the bottom four but I was pretty confident she would stay. She is one of the most promising ones in this season (I will be surprised if she doesn't make the list of finalists).

Noticing that the youngsters are now giving a tough fight to the seniors and it is not going to be a cakewalk for Kanakshri or Kalundrekar in spite of their experience.

It was a relief to see Monitor doing something different.

Getting the young surveers in between was a good idea.

And from next week only one singer will be eliminated every week, so less tension during the elimination.

Totally agree. Very nice episode. Enjoyed the Q&A with the judges. Shravani and Akshaya are so focused and composed; speaks a lot about their integrity towards the art. Ravindra deserved to be rajgaayak this week. Raju's singing is monotonous. Hope others up their game as show advances.
