Kids used to tease me too because my name is abeer. One boy used to call ape-beer. Ask questions that muslims don't drink so why my parents named me aBEER. My husband thought it was my nickname and that my real name is something else.

The most funny one was when we went with a group to makkah and one aunty in the group never used to remember my name so she used to calm me areeb. She said mujhe naam yaad nahi rehta toh aaj se main tumhara naam areeb rakhriun hoon lol 😆

The name isn't common may be that's y. But it doesn't appear like a nickname. I feel the name kind of gives off a kind of innocence about the other person.

I forgot to say that my daughter's name is manaal . naila and manaal have the same meaning because they share the same root word of noon ya laam . It means mayel karna, paa lena, achievement.
