CHAPTER 29

Vicky and Riddhima ran behind her shouting, "bhabhi... bhabhi...bhabhi... bhabhi" , but could not stop Geet from leaving KM. Vicky and Riddhima followed her. Finally she stopped at a secluded coffee shop. Vicky ordered for coffee and tea. Once waiter had left, Geet took out her hankerchief stuck in her saree waist and took out all her jewellery (except Mangalsutra,

payals and

engagement ring)

given by Khuranas i.e. Kangans,

necklace,

earrings etc.

and put them in her hankerchief and made a bundle out of it and handed it to Vicky and Riddhima.

"Bhabhi, yeh sab?" Riddhima questioned.

"Inn par humara adhikar nahi. Inn par Khurana Khandaan ki bahu ka adhikar hai." (I don't have right on them as they are meant for daughter-in-law of Khurana family!)

"Bhabhi, aap phir ek baar apne iss decision ke baare mein sochiye!" (Why don't you reconsider your decision?) Vicky requested.

"Bhaiya, prem, vishwas aur bharosa toh mann se hota hain. Hum abhi wapis chale bhi gaye toh kya hoga? Kal phir kissi aur kaaran woh humpar dosh dalenge aur hum se pramaan (proof) prastut karne ko kahenge." (Love, trust and faith is from heart. Even if I return, then again if something wrong happens and he will ask me for proof.) Vicky and Riddhima were speechless. "Hum aaj aap dono se kuch mangna hain!" (I want something from you both)

"KYA bhabhi? Aap ijazzat kyun le rahi hain?" (What? Why are you asking permission?)

She takes Vicky and Riddhima's hand and puts it on her head saying,"Aap ko humari kasam - Chahe kuch bhi ho jaaye, aap dono apne “Maan bhai” ko akela nahi chodenge! Woh bahaar se dekte shaktishaali hain kintu hai nahin. Kasam khaiye!" (You promise me, that no matter what happens to me you will never leave your brother alone. He may appear strong but he is not!)

"Hum kasam khaate hain!" (We promise!) Vicky and Riddhima replied.

"Didi, kya aap humare kamre se humare vivaah ke pehle ke kapade aur KHURANA INDUSTRIES ke SHARES laa sakti hain? Hum aap ke liye yahin intezaar karenge!" (Can you please do me a favour Riddhima didi? Can you please bring my clothes of before marriage & KHURANA INDUSTRIES SHARES? I'll wait for you here till you return)

While Riddhima was away Geet asked Vicky, "Bhaiya, kya hum aapke phone se ek phone kar sakte hain?" (Vick can I use your phone?) Vicky gave her the phone. She called Adi and asked him to meet her outside KC's entrance. Riddhima came and Geet started leaving when Vicky insisted on dropping Geet to KC. Geet agreed and Vicky & Riddhima dropped her at KC.

Geet met Adi. She gave her signed resignation letter to Adi. Requested Adi to give her salary till date by tomorrow. Adi was surprised by her decision but decided to keep quite. Geet asked Adi to call Arohi. At end of the day, Geet left with Arohi home.

"Geet went to pooja ghar and brought 'ganga-jal'.

Geet took 'ganga-jal' in her hand murmuring some shloks and said in firm and raised voice,"Hum aaj yeh pratigya (vow) lete hain, ki humare iss jeevan mein, hum aapke jeevan mein, Khurana parivar mei aur iss chaukhat mein kabhi bhi pair (feet) nahi rakhenge! Aaj se Geetanjali Maan Singh Khurana jeevit nahi hai! Aaj Geetanjali Maan Singh Khurana ka 'shraadh' ho gaya! Abb Geetanjali Maan Singh Khurana ka koi astitva nahi hai!!!!" Then she sprinked pure ganga-jal on herself and started walking towards the main door, unmindful of broken shards of glass which pierced her delicate feet. Making foot-prints of blood going out of the house!!!"

Savitri Devi kept seeing this scene on the video recorded by Nakul repeatedly. Trying to find a loop hole in Geet's pratigya, so she can bring Geet home. Savitri Devi and Rajveer had come a day earlier than expected as Savitri Devi was feeling something is not right at home! Coming home at 11am, they found no one at home as expected. Savitri Devi wanted to meet Geet when Nakul some how or other kept evading until Savitri Devi and Rajveer ate lunch. After having their lunch, when Nakul couldn't delay anymore he showed them the recorded video, stunning Savitri Devi & Rajveer.

"Hummei jiska daar tha woh sacch ho gaya!" Shocked Savitri Devi stated.

"Dadimaa, Dad aap log Kedarnath se jab aaye?" (Dadimaa, Dad when did you return from Kedarnath?) Maan exclaimed when he entered KM.

"Geetanjali kahaan hai?" (Where is Geetanjali?) Rajveer enquired.

"She left KM for good. I also didn't stop her as she had an affair with that Rahul Sharma!!" Maan disgustedly replied.

Sound of two slaps echoed in KM. Shocking Vicky and Riddhima who had just entered KM. Rajveer had never been so angry in his life. Not even when he had come to know that Rathores were behind the death of his love, Priyamvada. "Now ruin me as well as I have slapped you not once but twice like you did to Geetanjali."

"Geetanjali ne aapko thappad maar kar kuch galat nahi kiya. Ek kunwari ladki ke saath aap zabardasti karenge to woh khud ko bacchane ke liye kya karegi? Jo aap ne Geetanjali ke saath kiya agar waisa hi koi Riddhima ke saath karta toh kya aap usse shabashi dete?" (Geetanjali did nothing wrong by slapping you. You deserved it. Any girl will react the way Geetanjali did if you force yourself on her. If someone did same thing with Riddhima which you did with Geetanjali, will you encourage it?) Savitri Devi showed Maan his mistake.

"Dadimaa" Maan yelled.

"Kyun khud ki bahen ke baare mein sun kar aap thilmila gaye aur Geetanjali ka kya? Aap ne Geetanjali se hospital ka naam pucha tha jahaan woh admitted thee, aur kyunki woh Khurana Hospital nahin thaa iss liye aap uss par shaq kar rahe the? Kya itni badi Delhi mein sirf ek hi hospital hai, Khurana Hospital? Kya aapne purani Delhi ke hospital mein check kiya? NAHI!!" (You are roaring with anger hearing this as it your sister whom we are talking about. But what about Geetanjali? You asked her the name of hospital but as it was not Khurana Hospital, you suspected her and forced her to leave. In a big city like Delhi, there is only one hospital,Khurana Hospital? Did you check any hospitals in old Delhi? NO!!) Savitri Devi made Maan face some facts. "Aap ne toh kabhi usse aapni patni hi nahi samjha. Aap ke liye Geetanjali kewal ek "vaasana purthi"(fulfill your lust) ka saadhan theen. Aap ki vaasana puri hui aur usse chod diya! Aap ne toh yeh tak nahi socha ki agar aaj aap jeevith hain to sirf Geetanjali ke kaaran!" (You never considered Geetanjali as your wife. You only considered a meduim to fulfill your lust. Once your lust was satisfied there is no use of her. In your male ego you forgot the reason that you are alive is only because of her!) Savitri Devi showed Maan his selfish and ugly face!

"Aap ko sab mera dosh lagta hai Anjali ka nahin." (You are only finding faults with me) Maan retorted

"You are a full grown nearing 29 yrs old man living with his family and even then you are so insecure and behaved so immaturely! Geetanjali she is just 18yrs. old who saw her family burn't in front of her and has no family to support her & who is new to Delhi. If she is slightly immature its understandable. You should have behaved responsibly! I always considered you a responsible grandson, son and brother but you have miserably failed as a husband and have extremely disappointed me!! Savitri Devi walked out.

It was about 10days, since Geet left the house. The family was on breakfast table when Nakul came and said,"Rajmata aap se Vakil sahaab milne aaye hain." (Queen Mother, Advocate Sir has come to meet you.)

"Nakul unhe living room mei bathao, hum aate hain!" (You make him comfortable in the informal living room, I’ll just be there.)

"Rajmata, aapko naashte se utthane ke liye shama chahete hain. Yeh kuch zaruri kagazaat dene hain." (Sorry to disturb your breakfast Ma’am. But these are some important legal documents which need you immediate attention.) Lawyer left some papers with Savitri Devi and departed from KM.

When Savitri Devi opened the packet, she saw a hand written letter by Geetanjali along with other papers. She started reading the letter -------

"Priye Dadimaa,

Charan Sparsh Pranam!

Hummei shama kijiyega ki hum bina aapki aagya liye KM se chale gaye! Hummei aapni galati ka abhaas hai! Kintu agar aap ek 'Dadiya-saas' na hokar, ek Patni, ek Maa aur sabse mehtripuran ek Naari ke roop mein humara nirnaya (decision) dekhein to shayad itna galat na ho! Hum chahte to inhein samjhane ki koshish karte, kintu hum kya samjhayein hummei swayam gyat nahi tha. Kyunki hummei nahi gyat ki hum ne kya galati ki hai? Yeh humari koi baat sunne ko tyaar nahi the! Aur jiss rishte main koi prem, samaan, vishwas aur bharosa hi nahi, toh aise rishta se alag hona hi accha hai!

Vakil sahaab ke saath hum KHURANA INDUSTRIES ke SHARES lauta rahe hain, jinn par abb humara koi adhikar nahi. Humne yeh shares aapke naam kar diye hain!

Jab 14saal pehle humara inn se vivaah ho gaya tha, tab hi humare liye inka aur humara bandhan saath janamon ka bandhan thaa. Kintu yeh naye vichar (new ideas) rakhte hain. Inn ke liye vivaah ek kagaz par hastakshara ke bina adhura hain. Iss liye hum inke bheje hue kuch kargazon par jinn pe inke hastakshar hain unpar hastakshar karke inhe mukt karte hain! Abb yeh aapna jeevan aapne vichaaron se aur apne neeyam (rules) se jeene ke liye swatantra (free) hain.

Aapko humesha se hummei apni dadimaa maana hain na ki saas.

Highest Regards!

Please forgive me for not taking your permission before leaving KM. I'm well aware of my error. But please don't see my decision as a grandmother-in-law only, but as a wife, a mother and most importantly a woman. If you judge my decision as a woman you may not find it to be so wrong! I could have talked to Maan and made him understand my point of view. But I don't know what I have to explain to him and what have I done wrong? He refuses to listen to anything I say. Hence, where there is no love, respect, trust or faith in a relationship, its better to leave that relationship.

I'm sending with the lawyer KHURANA INDUSTRIES SHARES, as I no longer have any right on them. I have transferred them in your name!

When Maan and I got married 14yrs. back, according to me it was a bond for 7 births. But, Maan is of modern perspective. For him marriage is incomplete till its formally signed and registered. He wants his freedom therefore he sent me signed paper to set him free. Hence, I'm signing some papers to set him free. Now he can move on and live his life on his own terms and rules.

I have always loved you as my own grand mother and not grandmother-in-law. Please bless me!

When she took out the papers there were KHURANA INDUSTRIES SHARES which she passed to Rajveer.

One set of papers were "Divorce" paper which she gave to Maan. "Aap ko azaadi chahiye thee, Geentanjali ne aapko azaadi de di." (You wanted freedom Geetanjali has given you your freedom.) Savitri Devi walked out defeated, unhappy and crestfallen saying, "Humari parvarish (upbringing) mein avashiya (definitely) koi kamee rah gayi." (There has definitely been some fault in my upbringing) "Aaj se aur abhi se, jab tak aap Geetanjali ko iss ghar mei poore aadar aur samaan se wapis nahi laate hum aap se baat nahi karenge! Yadi aap kissi aur se vivaah karna chahte hain toh bata dijiyega kyunki hum tab KM chodh denge!" (From today and this moment, I will no longer converse with you till you bring back Geetanjali with full respect and honour. If you decide to remarry someone else I will leave KM as well!) Savitri Devi gave an ultimatum.

"Main bhi!" Rajveer also supported Savitri Devi. (Me too!)

It was two weeks later from fiasco at KM when Geet standing on Yamuna bridge reflecting on her life. She was so happy when Dr. Sudha Krishnan had given her an indication that she maybe pregnant, but as Doctor was not sure she got her tests done. How tough it was for Geet to hide this joyous news from Maan! Then her whole came crashing down!Those two weeks Arohi helped Geet by letting her stay in Arohi's home. Geet first wanted to go to Padmaja Ma'am but she couldn't enter KF now. After a week of leaving KM, Maan had sent signed divorce paper through Adi for her to sign. Which took away her last hope of reconciliation. She was so deep in her thoughts that she didn't notice a swirling car coming towards her at high speed due to some mechnical fault. Last she remember bright headlights coming straight on her face before darkness enveloped her.

Same night around 8pm., Mr. Shekhawat walked in with two policeman carrying few evidence bags. "Sorry to disturb you Mr. Khurana (Rajveer), we need your help." He went near Khurana family and showed a dupatta. "Do you recognise it ?"

"Yes. Its Anjali's" Riddhima replied

"Do you recognise this ring?"

"Yes. Its Anjali's" Maan replied

"Do you recognise this payal?"

"Yes. Its Anjali bhabhi's" Vicky replied

"You all have identified these articles of Mrs. Geetanjali Maan Singh Khurana. There has been an accident of the person who was wearing these articles on Yamuna bridge. Due to the force of accident she has fallen in the river!"

"You mean... You... Mean..." Rajveer stammers

"I mean the high force with which Yamuna river is flowing due rains we could not find the body. It may have flowed with heavy current along the river. Search is still continuing, but there is a high probability that MRS. GEETANJALI MAAN SINGH KHURANA IS NO MORE on basis of various proofs!"

"Nahi!" Dadimaa screamed and fell in a dead faint.

Leaving a stunned Khurana family especially MAAN SINGH KHURANA!!

Geet has left Maan for good and has completed all the legal formalities too. I wonder what has happened to Maan. Wasn’t expecting this from him. and Geet has taken a strong step.
