First real Superstar?

See I know that the "Superstar" word was coined for Rajesh Khanna, and no one before him was called a superstar. But even the "Megastar" word was coined for Saiman, so does that make him bigger than Amitabh or Rajesh Khanna in their prime?

So I want to know who was the first actor to get a big fan-following? That necessarily doesn't have to be die-hard fans.

This question is for those who have done PHD in "History of Bollywood".

toh yaha kitne hai jo Rajesh Khanna ke time paida huye the lol. I mean even the oldest posters here were toddlers during Rajesh Khanna's peak.
