I do not know much about the types of Hindu marriage but she told me that Gandarva Vivah (An ancient marriage tradition from the Indian subcontinent was based on mutual attraction between two people, with no rituals, witnesses or family participation) is one of the eight forms of marriage and a big part of Hindu mythology which tells that the kings and princes and even lords in those far-off days had had such marriages.

According to my gran, Anu-Pre's dhaga marriage is Gandarva Vivah that has happened in the witness of the mother of Universe, ma Durga. Hence their marriage is as valid and as sacred as any other marriages.
