Box Office Updates: WAR takes a hurricane start at the box office, opens at 85%By Bollywood Hungama News Network
, Oct 2, 2019 - 9:21 am IST
The much talked about and keenly anticipated Hrithik Roshan – Tiger Shroff starrer WAR finally hit screens today. Said to be this year’s biggest action entertainer the film which has been making headlines for the past couple of weeks enjoys a wide release across 4000 screens. But will the hype surrounding the film, translate into box office numbers is what we analyse.
Reports suggest that WAR has taken off with a hurricane start with occupancy rate during morning shows being pegged as high as 85%. This massive start is being attributed partly to the hype surrounding the film and also to the fact that advance booking for WAR commenced five days in advance on Friday, September 27. In fact, rough estimates state that WAR could earn approximately Rs. 25+ cr from the advance booking on Day 1. This coupled with the normal booking is expected to propel opening day business of the film well over the Rs. 45 cr mark.

On the whole, WAR that enjoys a wide release is expected to dominate the extended weekend. With no competition from the Hollywood release JOKER and SYE RAA NARASIMHA REDDY eating into market share in certain territories, WAR could easily emerge as both Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff’s highest opening day grosser. However, despite the wide release and the fact that the opening day business of WAR could well exceed Rs. 45 cr, chances of the film’s business challenging the Day 1 business of THUGS OF HINDOSTAN that had collected Rs. 52.25 cr seem unlikely.
OH MY GODDDD LOOK AT THE RESPONSE ON TWITTER. DYINGGGGGGG. Want to watch so badly 😭

Top All Time Advances - War Third

War has recorded a fantastic advance which is the highest ever for an outright Hindi film. It is also the first time that a film from the Hindi film industry has collected 30 crore nett plus in advances. The advance for the first day is actually more than Bahubali - The Conclusion but the oether four days of the weekend are far lesser than the two days of Bahubali - The Conclusion. War is a national holiday release so the advance is more lopsided for that national holiday which happens with the all the holiday releases.
The advance is super strong across mass centres as it is an action film and its pretty much certain there is going to a huge on the day audience at single screens and shows will go housefull due to the action factor which is a genre being generally neglected by the Hindi filmmakers even though it is the genre with the most potential. There will be capacity problems at some theatres as there are other new releases and even holdovers being screened in some shows which limites the shows for War while the bulk of audience will be coming for War only. Basically if War was being screened where the other films will play it would have got higher occupancy but multiplexes are about choice so they probably have to play the other films even though they know the occupancy going to less with these films compared to War. The top advances of all time are as follows.
1. Avengers: Endgame - 49,62,00,000 (Hindi and English version in Hindi markets, without South India)
2. Bahubali: The Conclusion - 37,53,00,000
3. War - 32,00,00,000 apprx
4. Avengers: Infinity War - 29,14,00,000
5. Thugs Of Hindostan - 26,27,00,000
6. Tiger Zinda Hai - 24,76,00,000
7. Bharat - 23,47,00,000
8. Sultan - 21,53,00,000
9. Sanju - 20,35,00,000
10. Race 3 - 19,16,00,000
12. Dangal - 18,84,00,000
12. Prem Ratan Dhan Payo - 15,73,00,000
13. Mission Mangal - 15,19,00,000 apprx
14. Dhoom 3 - 15,18,00,000
15 Happy New Year - 13,62,00,000

Without Hrithik a Tiger film Baaghi2 opened at a 25 on a national holiday with no such record advance booking per se even though it was a franchise...Munna Michael got no such opening.... Hrithik's Super30 without being the quintessential commercial flick , no hit song, no known heroine opened better than Tiger's last Soty2 which bombed at the box office...this film is Hrithik's...whatever be the results ...its on him...
I am not gonna turn this into a Hrithik vs Tiger debate but Baaghi 2 never opened on a national holiday, partial holiday of Good Friday. Tiger’s trashed and mocked soty2 with newcomers opened at 13 crores clashed with IPL semi finals on ramadan. Content failed. Not opening. Tiger is the rare hero in his gen to deliver 3 double digit openings in his first 6 movies. Context matters. Hrithik is my guy before Tiger and he is still the OG but we gotta be naive to think Tiger didn’t contribute at least 35-40% of any opening here. Dude’s mass, single screen and launde lapde fanbase is deemed by all the big trade analysts to be in the top 3. YRF promoted this movie as HrithikVsTiger not Hrithik featuring Tiger. So noooo it’s not be all, end all with Hrithik here. With that said, let’s not get into tribalism and enjoy the product shall we lol?!
Abhi movie crash hujae to tiger ko troll karege aur us k bhi hujaega movie🤣
