Thank you so much!

Do you have that scene in which Mr Bajaj cooks lunch for Prerna and she tells him the roti looks like India's map. 😆

RB was wearing white and Prerna was in a black saree.

Yes I have but that's a cheat shot, both were not in the same frame.

But I will share.

True. N also glad that AP got married, bcoz only then they both realized they were not perfect partners in marriage. Had they not married, P would have always felt that what if factor.

AB also explains graciously to Madhvi how RB was perfect for P in all ways during PRB 2nd marriage.

Yes! RB was a perfect match. AB was a 'nice' guy but not husband-material (if I can say so, I am not objectifying men here). Even before Prem's death track, his actions proved that. He married komo after promising his love for P. That was a red-flag for me as an audience! He was great as a friend but that's about it. No wonder P friend-zoned him for life.

Anyone interested in reading some FF? Sometime back on Namzy's insistence I had written one, on when Rish had slapped Prerna during Mukti's case. I had been very disappointed with the way that was handled in the show...they didnt even show him apologize smiley21

A small two-shot...my take on how that scene should have been. Hope you'll like it...bouquets and brickbats both welcome!

PART 1

Rishabh sat in his study, trying to get some work done. First the election campaigning and now this Mukti case had set him back with his work tremendously. He had a very important meeting to address tomorrow and he had not prepared for it at all. He had a terrible headache beginning but he forced himself to read over the reports his secy had given him. 5 minutes later, after realizing that he had read the first para thrice without understanding anything, he gave up.

He closed his laptop with a bang and massaged his temples...he knew why he was unable to focus. His guilt was consuming his entire being...how could he have behaved like this? There was no excuse for such deplorable behaviour. He couldn't remember a time in his life when he had raised even his voice while talking to a lady, and today morning he had raised his hand to one...to his Prerna, and that too in front of all the children! He couldn't even begin to fathom how humiliated she must have felt, yet she did not lose her famous temper! She had faced his outburst calmly, with dignity and restraint. It was a complete role reversal for them.

In their 3 decade relationship, it was always him who was the calm and reasonable one, while she was impulsive. He meticulously planned everything down to the most minute detail but Prerna just waltzed into any situation, acted first and thought later. He strategized and reasoned out all possible outcomes while she took life as it came.

He supposed it was because of the age difference between them, but then again, he had been the same even in his youth. Having lost his parents at an early age, he had never had the luxury of a safety net that a family provides. The world is a unforgiving place, and he learnt this the hard way. He had trained himself to be in complete control of his emotions, never letting anyone know his true reactions. After Menaka left him, he had completely cut himself off from everyone, even his children. Then Prerna entered his life and turned it upside down...she challenged his thinking, his way of life...slowly but surely breaking down the walls he had build around himself. Try as he might, he could never hide his feelings from Prerna. She could read him like an open book, sensing his moods and needs even from afar. As he sat reminiscing about their life, words of a favourite poem floated into his mind

Raat yun dil mein teri, khoyi hui yaad aayi
Jaise viraane mein chupke se bahaar aa jaye
Jaise sahraon mein haule se chale baad-ae-naseem
Jaise bimaar ko be-wajaah quraar aa jaaye

Prerna had breathed life into his existence, filling his black and white life with the warm colors of love and family. It was true that he had also given her a lifetime of happiness, but in his opinion he was the blessed one in their relationship. And yet, with this action of his, he had wiped out their entire life...he had done the unthinkable. He had always looked down upon people who resorted to physical means to win an arguement, but today in a moment of frustration, he also did the same. The great Rishabh Bajaj had been weak enough to physically abuse his wife! And then had escaped into his study like a coward!

As his head started pounding with pain, he wished for a strong cup of coffee to dull the ache. No sooner than he had the thought, the door of his study opened and Birju kaka came in with a tray in his hand. "Prerna bitiya ne aapke liye coffee aur khana bheja hai, sahab. Aapne subah se kuch khaya nahi hai na", he said. Rishabh scrubbed his hand down his face and shook his head as the door closed. He would never understand the enigma that was Prerna...how did she do this? After all that happened in the morning, how could she be so...so normal?

Rishabh realised that he had to stop avoiding Prerna, the longer he stayed away, the more difficult it would be to ask for forgiveness. For the first time, he wished that he was more expressive with his feelings. He envied the easy manner in which Prerna and Anurag wore their heart on their sleeves.

Without allowing his self-doubt to stop him again, he opened the study door and stepped out. A hush fell on the entire room as they saw him. All eyes were on Rishabh, as he walked towards Prerna. Shrugging his shoulders, he pulled himself together and gathered his courage - "Come on Rishabh, when you didn't hesitate to strike your wife in front of your children, why are you hesitating in apologizing now?"

Prerna got up from the table and made to walk away when she saw Rishabh approaching. "Prernaaa", Rishabh called out to her. She stopped but didnt turn towards him. He walked up to her and stood in front of her. As she looked up, he saw a wariness and vulnerability in her eyes, and felt a part of him die. He had seen the same look in her eyes years before, when Anurag had accused her being responsible for Prem being killed. He had never wanted to see that look again, much less be the cause for it. In that moment, he found the courage to do what was necessary...he just hoped that his voice didn't betray him.

Rishabh folded his hands and said "Prerna, what I did today is unpardonable. Nothing I can say or do now can justify my actions. Phir bhi, ho sake toh mujhe maaf kar dena, Prerna". As he stood before her with his head bowed, Prerna felt immense love flood her heart and soul. She knew how difficult Rishabh found it to admit to his mistakes even in the privacy of their bedroom. He apologized before the entire family only to restore her self respect in the eyes of her children. She felt such a tenderness for this man...her man...there was nothing in the world that he wouldn't do for her happiness. Prerna said "Mr Bajaj, meri taraf dekhiye." As Rishabh lifted his eyes to meet hers, he saw only acceptance where he expected censure. "Maaf kar diya maine aapko." Rishabh opened his mouth to say something but Prerna beat him to it and said "Baaki baatein hum andar jaa kar kare? Akhir yeh hum pati-patni ke beech ka mamala hai".

Whatever had he done to deserve a wife as wonderful as Prerna? He had not forgiven himself yet, nor did he think he ever would. But she had...his Prerna had, once again, overlooked his colossal faults and ensured that he is not shamed before his children. For once in his life, he decided not to analyze, just enjoy the blessing bestowed upon him!

PART 2

Prerna & Rishabh entered their bedroom and closed the door behind them. For a moment they just stood looking, waiting for the other to say something.

"Prerna". "Mr Bajaj". They both started at the same time...

"Prerna, please let me speak first. Just hear me out, before you say anything." As she nodded, Rishabh continued, "Prerna I really dont know what got into me today. The way police came to the rally to arrest Sharad, Shailendra ji also was pressurizing me, plus my own frustration and helplessness in this entire situation...all just came out on you in the wrongest of ways. I just..." Rishabh raked his hand thru his hair, there was so much more he wanted to say but was unable to articulate his feelings. "I am so very sorry. If there is anything I can do to atone for this, I'd gladly do whatever you say."

Looking at her husband, Prerna said, "I am not saying that you agree with me immediately, but at least give me a bit of credit and trust that I will not destroy my daughter's marriage in a fit of misunderstanding."

"I know what I am saying is difficult to believe, I also didnt want to believe that the husband of my daughter has raped my other daughter. Par hamare mooh modne se sachchai nahi badlegi, Mr Bajaj. Aur sachcha yeh hai ki Mukti ka rape Sharad ne kiya hai. I know I don't have proof against him right now, but I am also sure that I will get that proof. I am not asking you to help me against our son-in-law, what I am asking is trust & support. Trust that I will not do anything which may harm Sneha, and support till the time I garner proof."

Rishabh, "Par Prerna, by even investigating into Mukti's claim you are destroying Sneha's life. How can you expect her marital life to be happy if her mother is accusing her husband of rape?"

Prerna, "And how can you expect her marital life to be happy if what Mukti is saying turns out to be true? Aren't you condemning both your daughters to a life of misery?" Rishabh didnt have a response to that.

Prerna continued, "How many years do you know me, Mr Bajaj? 30 years? I know that I am impulsive, many times I act first and think later. But never has any of my actions been to the detriment of our children. Over years we have disagreed, we have argued, fought bitterly. But our trust in each other had never wavered. And it is with this trust and love that we have nurtured our family...if this gets eroded, kuch nahi bachega hamare paas. Yeh jo bhi kuch ho raha hai hamare parivaar mein, hamare beech mein, ab bas, this has to stop."

Rishabh took her hands in his and looked deep into her eyes. He saw her anguish and loneliness and resolved to get to the bottom of this asap. He couldn't bear to see Prerna like this. "Haan Prerna, main bhi thak gaya hoon iss sab se. I don't like to be at odds with you. Jo kuch bhi pareshaania hain, ab hum dono mil kar unka samana karenge, hamesha ki tarah."

Both of them felt lighter than they had in weeks. They just sat on the sofa, side by side, their hands brushing against each other's...not saying anything...they didn't really need words. It was as if time itself had stopped...to let them soak in their love.

As usual Prerna was the one who spoke first, "You know, Mr Bajaj, in all this conflict, 2 things gave me immense satisfaction. That you stood by Sneha, no matter the consequences...I can't tell you how proud I felt when I saw that when it comes to Sneha, nothing else matters...not even me!"

Rishabh gave a smile and said, "Aur doosri baat?"

Prerna looked at him mischievously and said, "I had never thought there would come a time when you and Anurag could agree on something and support each other so wholeheartedly...woh bhi mere khilaaf! I think I quite like the jodi you both make!" As Rishabh stared incredulously at her, Prerna couldn't control herself and broke into peals of laughter! Seeing her laughing and carefree, Rishabh's heart warmed. He pulled his wife closer and whispered, "Be careful of what you wish for, Mrs Bajaj...it may just come true!"

The end!
