Chapter 3- Something Different

Sonakshi and Rohit both had cried to sleep the previous night thus making their next day dull and sad. Rohit had continuous surgeries today and finally when he entered his cabin, everything came back to him. His cabin had started reminding him of her. He quickly left for cafeteria to have some peaceful time with himself.

Sonakshi was done for day so she made her way to Rohit’s house for badi mumma’s birthday. Suman, Pulkit and Pari had already reached there. Life was so funny when their families were at loggerheads all they wanted was to be with each other now that she wants to stay away, their families are so attached. Sonakshi entered the Sippy Mansion to be lovingly greeted by Veena. Suman smiled at their relationship. She was indeed happy that Sona had got what she deserved.

After a good hour, Rohit decided to go home and be happy at least for his family. As he reached home Pulkit had been excitedly asking about the new cases and and explaining his new experiences. Pulkit was now used to Rohit solving his doubts. Rohit loved helping Pulkit seeing the passion in him to learn which he had when he was in this phase.

Veena was in the kitchen instructing Vimmi where Sonkashi also stood. Rohit’s eyes finally found her standing and smiling with his mom.

“Sonakshi, I need to help Vimmi. Can you please drop Rohit’s clothes to his room?” Veena asked sweetly.

“Sure aunty.” Sonakshi smiled

“Second compartment, left side.”

“Ok.”

Rohit solved Pulkit’s doubts and made his way upstairs. He didn’t even come to know when he got so close to the Rastogis specially Pulkit. Weird thoughts regarding the after effects of the breakup came to his mind.

He opened the door to his room to find Sonakshi keeping his clothes in the cupboard.

“Maine toh sirf fake girlfriend banne ko kaha tha. Tum wifey duties bhi kar rai ho.” He tried to lighten the atmosphere.

“Kyu bhagwaan ne haath nai diye? Biwi se hi sara kaam karana hai tumhe? Wifey duty my foot.” She said all in one go and walked towards the door.

Rohit caught her wrist and stopped her. She looked back to his pleading eyes and decided to listen to him once. He made her sit on his bed and sat down on his knees beside her.

“I’m sorry if I hurt you in anyway, Sonakshi. I have always wanted the best for you. Sometimes, I have been selfish and I’m sorry. I will solve this matter. I have already told them that we are going through a rough patch. In few days, I’ll tell them that we broke up. Please if you felt I crossed my limits, I’m sorry. I’m sorry for anything and everything you felt bad of. But please, don’t leave me. This all will be over soon. We are friends, best friends, and we will be till the end. It’s so difficult without you Sona. I...I..have never been so lost. Everything reminds me of you. You pushing me away pierces my heart. It’s so painful. After four long years, I have found someone all by myself and all for myself. Please be with me till the end. This fake thing may end, but Rohit and Sonkashi can’t end. It would be unbearable.” Rohit almost chocked as he kept his head in her lap.

Sonakshi had no idea he was so affected. She bent down kept her head on his.

“I’m sorry I didn’t mean to make you feel this way. But, after we fake part ways, our families wouldn’t like us to see each other or they will come to know the truth. We’re in a soup, Rohit. It cannot be helped.” Sonakshi said truthfully as she straightened herself and made Rohit look at her.

“We’ll manage. I’ll manage. Give us a chance. Give our friendship a chance. All my friends chose Raima over me. I don’t have anyone, Sona.” He looked at her.

He knew this all affected her in the same way it did to him. They had amazing understanding from the beginning. He knew her so well even when he hardly knew her. He didn’t know if this was friendship or more. He just knew he couldn’t afford to lose her.

Sonakshi got up and made him get up as well. She saw so much love in his eyes. She didn’t dare to think it was for her. She had done that mistake before. Not again will she fall weak.

“Friends?” She asked extending her hand

Rohit felt something sharp as she named their relationship as ‘friends’. He knew he was in double minds but at the moment he would take anything that Sonakshi offers.

“Best Friends” he grabbed her hand as tightly as possible.

“We have to act indifferent down.” She started

“Why?”

“We’re fighting, Rohit according to them.”

“But we are friends?”

“Rohit, have you had a memory loss?”

“Oh sorry. That way.”

“Yes, you can tell them we broke up after 1-2 days.”

“Hmm”

Rohit took her both hands and touched his chest.

“Thanks for coming back”

“Hmm” She managed to say

Rohit was about to kiss her forehead but she went back.

“Please Rohit. They are waiting.”

“Sorry. You go first.”

“Ok”

As Sonkashi left, a lone tear fell of his eyes remembering how she backed off his touches. This wasn’t the Sonkashi he knew.

The whole evening they kept on ignoring each other in front of thier families making them worried all the while. They danced together as badi mumma told them to do so after the cake cutting.

“Bhai, kya hua hai?” Pooja reached Rohit

“Pata nai, Pooji.” He smiled sadly and walked away.

Pooja quickly went to Ajit and hatched a plan. They convinced the Rustogis to go home with the driver so Rohit can drop Sonakshi on his bike and they might reconcile. Both the families hoped this would work and literally forced Rohit to drop Sonakshi on the bike as he can’t drive a car.

Rohit was internally very happy but obviously behaving the other way to his family.

As they exited the Sippy Mansion, Rohit grabbed her hand excitedly and said

“Come, I’ll take you to have chaat. You’ll love it.”

Before Sonakshi could say anything, they had driven off. Rohit was more than happy on his bike as he knew she had nowhere to run. Sonakshi enjoyed these little moments with him still scared what was in for the future.

Rohit took Sonakshi to Marine drive where they had chaat, kulfi, juices and finally sat there facing the water.

“Thanks Rohit. I really enjoyed.” She smiled genuinely

“I’m glad.” Rohit said as he put his hand on hers enjoying the view and to his surprise Sonakshi didn’t say anything.

I looked around and there were only couples here.

“What did I even expect at this hour?”

Their hands together like mine and Sonakshis. I looked at her. She looked so peaceful right now. Her eyes closed as if she has shut down the world and just enjoying the moment. With me? Maybe. I dare not think the other way. She has agreed to be my friend after so much convincing.

I’m so content right now. The most beautiful lady in and out is here with me, her hand in mine.

They were silent on the way to Goregoan. It was a comfortable silence. Both of them had gone through a lot. They needed peace with they got it today.

“Thanks Rohit. You don’t have to but...”

“But I want to. Don’t do this Sona.”

“Sona..”

“Can I?”

“Hmm..bye”

“Bye”

“Suno ” Rohit called her again

“Hmm?”

“Can I come see you at the set if I miss you?”

“Hmm..” Sonakshi couldn’t manage to say a no

“Thank you. Thank you so much Sonakshi. Bye.”

Sonakshi smiled at herself. She was in a mess. Again.

Rohit didn’t know Sonakshi’s one yes could bring him so much happiness. He made his way back to home happy as ever. He didn’t know what these feelings were, but it surely made him happy.

That was so emotional. You made Sona to be so kind and forgiving but Rohit is repenting hard so I felt that’s quite acceptable as her turning away might saddened him more. Rastogis n Sippys together is a sight to watch considering Suman doesn’t want a Sindhi based on today’s episode (I don’t understand why though) but I loved that you have made their bond cordial. Pulkit and Rohit’s bond are 2 characters I’m excited to see growing similar to Ajit and Sona.

I loved the entire update and I hope next one comes soon too. Thank you for your time and effort, you write very well indeed and the flow of the story is continuous that I didn’t realize it has ended the moment I began reading. Hahahaha
