It's not a movie for everyone
your hate for ranbir is always more than your love for deepikaI don't know,I didn't watch..never felt like watching it online either.
maybe many DP fans felt like me..and stayed away.
Ved was not the Bunny of YJHD anymore, the aura had slipped..never understood the concept of the film..I laugh when I watch ' jab tum saath ho'.
I loved the strong Naina character in YJHD..She was so confident. Both times she let the guy go.She was sure the second time too,she wanted her life in India, her family ,clinic. She would never go with him.He would have to visit her in India.(Similar to Meera in LAK)
I can't bring myself to watch the pathetic Tara and Ved.
It was a bore but wonderful performances of both leads. Of course, we are not forgetting the actual Tamasha in real life, legend stuff only.
- Story was crap
- Deep looked a bit despo and it was so apparent from her acting that she wasn't still moved on from ex beau ranbir
- ranbir's character was same as his past movies like rockstar /YJHD..
The only good thing abt ths movie was couple of songs like - agar tum sath ho..

Ranbir needs to do more diverse movies and not the same old manchild shi
I loved the movie and this is one of Ranbir's BEST performances, he is so versitile and deepika acted great too. I don't think it is for everyone. The whole AGAR TUM SAATH HO sequence and acting was spot on by both and made me cry so much. You would only relate if you have ever been through it. I think the movie flopped because it was too ahead of its time and people were expecting it to be exactly like YJHD.

How was it ahead of it's time? No offense but that seems like an excuse.
Dont know about the reason (but its damn unfortunate)
But for me TAMASHA is one of the FEW MOST BEAUTIFUL MOVIES I have seen from Hindi cinema.
I personally felt it was a movie with brilliant idea and some very powerful scenes but overall wasn't cohesive enough to engage. The first half was all over the place especially the trip part in the beginning came across pretty boring. Also, the way character of Ranbir behaved in some scenes, it looked obvious that he had more neurological problems that could not be solved just by pursuing his dream career. Also, character of Deepika had very little agency of her own and her accepting him again without confronting about his past behaviour was a little jarring.
But, the movie had its moments and nicely portrayed how the creativity and talent of a child can be robbed and damage them emotionally due to pressure of rat race. The flashback scenes of Ranbir as child and as college student were very well executed.
Overall, it was a decent film but surely had the potential to be a 3 idiots if it had better screenplay and characters.
