CHAPTER 20(a)
ALL THE NAMES & PLACES ARE FICTITIOUS (if any resemblance to persons & places is purely coincidental). Any royal titles, MEDICAL PROCEDURES, MEDICAL TERMS, MILITARY PROCEDURES, MILITARY TERMS, RELIGIOUS TERMS, Punjabi terms, architectural terms, IT terms & programs, office hierachy, wedding rituals, etc. are from my imagination hence THEY ARE NOT TRUE. !!!!!

Next day early morning around 5am., Geet woke up as she is an early riser, freshened up & took bath. Geet was feeling very thirsty & in dim light, she found everything new. Then remembered she is in Khurana's Outhouse. She found her way out of the room towards the kitchen. She switched on the torch to find her way about. She soon found the stairs and was going down gingerly towards the kitchen when she banged into something hard and torch fell from her hand. In the dark she felt someone touching her intimately, but before she could scream a pair of hot & rough male lips smacked on her lips. Initially, she tried struggling but soon she smelt a known masculine smell & felt pressure on her lips were of non other than of her husband, Maan.
Once he sensed Geet is calm Maan guided her to the kitchen. Made her sit on his lap.
"Aap yahan kya kar rahe hain? Dadimaa ne hummei manna kiya hai na aaj milne se." (What are doing here? Dadimaa forbade us to meet)
"Woh to Haldi ke baad manna kiya hai, magar abhi tak to Haldi nahi hui hai. Tumhari tabiyat (health) kaisi hai?" (She forbade us to meet after Haldi, but so far haldi ceremony is not done. How is your health?)
"Hummara swasthiya (health) pahele is accha hai. Hummei pyaas lag rahi thee, iss liye hum neeche aa rahe the." (My health is better. I was coming down to have water) They both got up and had coffee & tea respectively. Maan & Geet were in each others arms enjoying the sunrise. "Abb se humari har subah aap se shuru hogi aur har raat aap pe khatam hogi." (Courtsey GHSP) (From now my each morning will start with you and each night will end with you.)
"Meri bhi!" Maan replied.
Maan realised soon it will be daylight and everyone in the household will be awake. Maan took out "Haldi" packet from his pocket, "Main chahta thaa ki sabse pehli (first) 'haldi' main tumhe lagaon," saying this Maan smeared a little haldi on Geet's soft milky white cheek lovingly. (I wanted to be the first one to apply haldi to you) Geet also took some 'haldi' and smeared it on Maan's stubbled cheek tenderly with love.
"Yeh aap mitane ki koshish bhi matt kariyega!" (Don't try to wash it off!) Geet said with authority. Maan kissed Geet's forehead & quickly left the way he had come. This loving and tender scene was witness by Arjun. He was very happy that his little Gudiya will get all love she missed, from her husband after her marriage. Maan had just reached his room, when Nakul came to say Savitri Devi has asked Maan to to freshen up & come downstairs. Maan freshened up & took bath being careful not to wash away his Mishty's haldi mark.
It was 7:30am. Meera was racing against time although she was ready but her room was a mess. Meera was unable to get a perfect yellow Indian attire to wear for Maan & Geet's "Haldi" function. Finally she managed to get out two Anarkali suits(both given by Dadimaa)- one with more of green than yellow & one having more red than yellow. She decided to wear red/yellow for haldi & green/yellow for sangeet/mehendi but in this process her room was a mess. Anyway she started tidying, when there was a knock on her door. Opening the door, she saw Vicky standing at her doorstep. For a moment a her heart skipped a beat but then harsh words echoed in her brain "YOU ARE A CURSE!"
"Yes. What can I do for you?" Meera asked Vicky very coldly.
"Meera, I'm extremely SORRY for the way I behaved on that day. I know sorry is not enough, so You can give me any punishment you feel like." Vicky said walking inside her room.
"Kunwar Vikrant Singh Khurana as I'm no one to you, how does forgiveness or punishment hold any meaning!"
"Please Meera I understand my mistake." Vicky pleaded
"You understood your mistake, thats good! If it makes you feel less burdened 'I forgive you'!" Meera continued her tidying the room thinking that Vicky will take the hint and leave, but Vicky still stood there.
"If you have truly forgiven me, can we dance together for 'Bhai & Bhabhi's Sangeet'. But if your are not okay with it or if you have planned something else, its fine." Vicky turned and was about to leave.
"Where and when do you want me to come for dance practice?" Meera said indifferently. Vicky stated the place & time and turned to go. "I love both Maan bhai & Anjali bhabhi a lot & can do anything for their happiness. I can even bear the presence of the person who thinks 'I'm a curse' for them" Meera replied with deep pain and walked out of her room. Making Vicky realise the enormity of pain his words said in anger caused Meera.
After breakfast, everyone was gathered in main hall of KM except Geet (much to Maan's disappointment but kept his feeling hidden so he is not teased).
"Dadimaa, as Anjali considers me as a sister so from now until the wedding I will perform all rites performed by a bride's sister. Meera didi will perform all sister's rites for the bridegroom, Maan bhai. Please don't glare at me, as when I'm Anjali's sister I'm elder to her & can call her by name." Riddhima announced, making everyone smile.
Before Savitri Devi could answer, Nakul came with telephone reciever and handed it to Savitri Devi . "Jee Geetanjali beta, aap aur kisiko bhi bulana chahti to bula sakti hain. Bas unn se kah dijeyga ki aapki shaadi ke baare mein kissi aur ko na bataiyen. Haan bas Ridz thodi der mein aa rahi hai!" (Geetanjali you can call whomever you want. Just tell them not to leak about Maan & your wedding outside of KM. Ridz is coming in sometime.) Savitri Devi replied. One person is very keen to know whom Anjali wants to invite? But unfortunately can't ask. (Guess??)
Soon Haldi function started at KM, where Haldi is smeared on Maan. First person was Savitri Devi, then Rajveer, then Arjun, being bride's brother, followed by Vicky, Meera & Riddhima. Vicky & Riddhima applied "haldi" without any reservation, where as Meera applied a little for shagun shyly. Girls then took half of remaining Haldi from Maan's bowl,to apply on Geet.
Maan wanted to know "Why are you taking my used Haldi for Anjali? Take fresh one for her." Everyone laughed teasing Maan.
"Beta, if your used haldi is applied on Geetanjali your marital bond will be tied forever. Like two bodies one soul." Savitri Devi replied
Once girls left, Vicky opened Maan's kurta and applied abundant Haldi on his muscular chest and 8pack abs; & encouraged Rajeev & Adi to do the same. By the end of the ceremony, it was looking more like 'holi' than 'haldi'!!!! Vicky clicked lot of photographs in different state of haldi applied to Maan so that he can tease him later!
Scenario was not much different in Outhouse as well. Geet had invited Pinky and Arohi. Arohi had been very helpful to Geet when she had joined KC & had developed a good rapport with one another. Geet & Arohi were also personality wise similar. Arjun on seeing Arohi was shocked. He always had a soft corner for Arohi but was not able to express his emotions. Arohi was also shocked to see Arjun. Arohi loved Arjun but she always felt that Arjun thought of her as his assistant only. Maan's used Haldi was first applied by Arjun to Geet, then by Riddhima, then by Meera, Pinky & Arohi.
Riddhima clicked a photograph of Geet in haldi and WHATSAPPed it to her brother dear's phone. Arjun left after applying Haldi as Savitri Devi needed his help. After Arjun left even the girls also started playing & in the end it was looking more like 'holi' than 'haldi'!!!! Finally Maan & Geet were sent for bath in Khurana Mansion & Khurana Outhouse respectively!
After bath, lunch was served for all. Bride's side ate in Khurana Outhouse and Bridegroom's side in KM. Bride & bridegroom were sent to rest. Before Maan left, Savitri Devi spoke to him, "Maan hum jante hain ki kahne se koi faiyada nahin hoga magar phir bhi kahte hai. Geetanjali aur aap ke liye aaj ka aur kal ka din bahut thakane (tiring) wala hoga, iss liye aap unse abhi na milane jayen aur aap dono abhi sooyen." (Maan, I know my saying won't make a difference, but I suggest you let her rest now & you also rest as today & tomorrow are going to be tiring days for both of you.)
Rest of the family was busy practicing for evening Sangeet in Khurana Outhouse. They were not able to find a partner for Arjun. Arjun said "Hummei na toh nritya aata na hummei nritya karna." (Neither I know how to dance nor I want to dance)
"Aisa kaise Arjun bhai? Aap dulhan ke bhai hain aur aap hi nahi nacchenge?" Riddhima objected (How can you not dance Arjun bhai? You are bride's brother)
Geet was walking towards kitchen to get water, when she heard this commotion. Geet suggested,"Bhai-sa aap Arohi didi ke saath kyun nahi nritya karte?" (Bhai, why don't you dance with Arohi?)
For few minutes there was complete silence, then Vicky cheered, "Bhabhi you are great!" Geet gave a shy smile and went upstairs to rest. "Aur Adi bhai aap aur Pinky?" (What about Adi & Pinky?) Vicky asked.
"Vicky mujhe shaam ko mandir jaakar Panditji se milna hain tyaari dekhne ke liye!" (I have to go in evening to arrange things in temple for tomorrow) Adi tried wriggling out.
"Raat ke 9:00 baje kaunsa mandir khula hota hai?" Vicky replied. (Which temple is open at 9:00 pm in night?)
In all this commotion no one noticed Maan sneaking into his Mishty's room. He went to her room and saw her sleeping. Haldi had given a beautiful glow on her face. Maan clicked a photo of his sleeping beauty and quietly sneaked out of Outhouse. The group was still fighting(with Vicky being the leader) and no one noticed Maan's arrival to & departure from Outhouse.
Later in the evening everyone gathered at main hall of OH for "Sangeet". Maan was dressed in Olive Green calf length Sherwani with beige gold churidaar & turban tied in a princely style. Geet was wearing Mehendi Green lahenga with Maroon dupatta wearing royal jewellery and looking extremely gorgeous in light make up, done by Riddhima & Meera.
Maan & Geet were made to sit side by side. Geet on right side of Maan.
"Lets start the evening by wishing the newly to wed couple" Vicky announced. "Sagaai ho ya shaadi 'bandhan to dilon' ka hota hai. Aaj hum aapne 'bhai aur bhabhi' aur (Arjun's voice) 'hum aapni bahen aur bahenoi' ko iss "pyaar ke bandhan" ki bahut bhadaai dete hain" Vicky & Arjun concluded together. (Whether its engagement or marriage, its a binding of hearts. Today we congratulate my brother & sister-in-law; & my sister & brother-in-law (Arjun's voice) on this bond of love.)
The song was performed by Riddhima and Vicky. Riddhima from Geet's side & Vicky from Maan's side.

"Why don't we do competition between Dulhan's side & Dulhe's side?" Riddhima suggested.
Everyone loved the suggestion.
"What about Adi bhai & Pinky?" Vicky enquired,
"They are nuetral ground. Meaning from both the sides." Meera said
"We boys will beat the girls." Vicky said with confidence.
"Lets see!" said Riddhima
"Lets start with Dadimaa," Vicky suggested
"Nahi! Hum nahi Nritya kar sakte?" (I can't dance) Dadimaa declined.
"I was right Dadimaa, you have become old. Buuudddhi" Vicky teased.
"Chup shaitan! Hum nritya karenge aur woh bhi aapke saath." (I will dance & with you.) Saying this Dadi took Vicky with her. She started dancing very gracefully despite her age. Dadimaa had learnt Kathak in her school days which made her dance very graceful. Vicky was dancing copying Ranveer Kapoor's steps.

Maan & Geet both were enjoying Dadi-pota's duet. Maan even laughed once or twice making Geet very surprised. Suddenly she saw Savitri Devi gasping for breath. She got up immediately much to every ones surprise. Ran to Savitri Devi supported her making her sit. Called Riddhima to examine her. Then everyone realised that due to age her body couldn't take such fast dancing! Maan reached Savitri Devi's side & said, "Lets finish "Sangeet" program."
There were lots of "Oh nos, Whys etc.!"
"Maan beta, hum bilkul theek hai aur humari umar ke kaaran thakaan ho rahi hai. Kyun Badmash, abb kya kehta hai? Hum nritya kar sakte hain yaa nahin ?" (Maan I'm perfectly fine. Due to old age I became breathless with fast dance) Dadimaa said pulling Vicky's ears. Vicky nodded in affirmitive.
"Dadimaa aap ne avashya (definitely) 'shastriye nritya' seekha hoga?" (Dadimaa you definitely must have learnt classical dance?) Geet said.
"Haan Kathak seekha tha 50saal pehle!" (Yes I learnt Kathak 50yrs. back!) Savitri Devi answered.
"Ok now next from girls side." Vicky announced. Maan & Geet went back to their places.
Riddhima came wearing white & pink lahenga looking very sweet. And started teasing Maan like a bride's sister calling him 'Jeejaji'.

When the line came "ice cream kha raha tha," Pinky had 3 icecream sticks & Adi had none much to every ones delight. Maan also gave a smile instead of his usual smirk.
"Now our most shy dulhan ke bhai, Arjun & Arohi" Vicky commented.
Arjun & Arohi started dancing lost in each other.

With the line "ban ke dulhan ghar aa". Arohi was blushing & Arjun feeling sense of pride. The song finished but both restless souls refused to leave each others hands. Finally with lot of hooting & cheering they came back from their lala land realising the song has finished.
"Now forever naughty & prankster Vicky Bhai with sweet & shy Meera didi" Riddhima announced.
Vicky was seeing Meera dressed in Indian attire for first time (according to him) and is mesmerised.
Started enacting the words of song like its coming from his heart.

Geet whispered to Maan "I think they make ideal couple."
Maan replied back grimly "Everyone is not so lucky as us to get their first love. Neither Vicky has any sense of responsibility to keep & hold on to a relationship."
"Love can change everyone. Love can even make a 'sadu, khadhus, dusht danav & daas saarvala ravan', a sweet, gentle & compassionate lover." Geet replied teasingly to lighten the atmosphere.
"You think I'm a 'sadu, khadhus, dusht danav & daas saarvala ravan'? Kal dekhna mai kya karta hoon." Maan promised
"Now last but not least is my sweet, shy, adoreable & brave (rubbing his backside), Anjali bhabhi & Maan bhai's Mishty."
Geet nodded her head in negative. Maan coaxing her to perform for his sake. Geet said she will if Maan dances with her. Maan says he doesn't know dance. Geet went near Vicky and whispered something in his ear. Maan is inquisitive to know what she said to Vicky.
Arjun, Arohi, Vicky, Meera, Adi, Pinky & Riddhima make Geet stand in centre and surround her.

While Geet is dancing, suddenly in middle of the song, Geet holds Maan's hands & brings him to centre to play the dhol. Maan plays & Geet dances on the rhythmn of dhol not on song. Maan keeps playing & she keeps dancing. Their jugalbandi is witnessed by all. It is better than any performance. Sangeet finishes to a roaring applause. Highlight being "Maan & Geet's jugalbandi."
Dinner was served after Sangeet before "Mehendi" starts. After dinner, girls went and changed their clothes for comfortable ones. Savitri Devi shooed all men & boys out of Outhouse. Mehendiwalis started applying mehendi on girls hands. Dadimaa had arranged a special Mehendiwali for Geet. The Mehendiwali asked bridegroom's name and Pinky teased, "Tum likho 'dusht danav', nahi 'sadu', nahi 'khadus'." Geet whispered in Mehendiwali's ear the name shyly when Pinky left.
While Mehendi was being applied in Outhouse, Savitri Devi caught Maan leaving from Khurana Mansion for Outhouse. "Maan beta, hum jante hain aap kahan jaa rahen hain. Magar hummein aap se zaruri baat karni hai. Maan kal aapki Geetanjali se poore rasamon aur riwazon se shaadi ho jaayegi. Aap jaante hain ki Geetanjali ek Rajkumari hain. Magar aap yeh nahin jaante ki jiss gharane se woh hain, uss gharane mein dhan ke badale samaan ko bahut maan dete hain. Aap kabhi bhi shaadi ke baad, gusse (anger) mein yaa aapne ghammad (ego) mein aisa matt kariyega ki Geetanjali ke swabhimaan (self-respect), parivar ka samaan (family's respect) yaa charith (character) ko thess pahunche. Kyunki agar aisa hua to woh aapko chodhkar jaa sakti hain aur phir lautengi bhi nahi." (I know where you are going. But I have to talk to you something important. Tomorrow you both will get married with all rites and rituals. You know that Geetanjali is a princess. But you don't know about her family. For her family respect is more important than wealth. In your anger & ego please don't ever do anything that can hurt Geetanjali's self-respect, family's respect or point finger on her character. Because if you do, you will loose her forever.) Savitri Devi cautioned Maan.
"Dadimaa,aap bewajah pareshan ho rahi hain." (Dadimaa you are worrying without any reason) Maan reasoned.
"Kaash aap hummari baat ko ghambhirta (seriousness) se samjhate." Savitri Devi again adviced Maan (I hope you understand the seriousness of what I'm saying)
Savitri Devi made sleeping arrangements. Pinky & Arohi to sleep in Geet's room tonight. Vicky was to sleep in Maan's room, much to Maan's irritation! Adi was sleeping in Vicky's room. Vicky knocked on Maan's door wearing his night dress. Maan told to Vicky to sleep on the couch as Maan didn't want to share his bed with anyone other than Mishty. Vicky was tired & went sleep immediately. Maan quitely slid out of the room to pay his Mishty a goodnight visit.
After getting Mehendi put, all girls had gone to KM. Geet was alone & thought of going to her brother's room as she found him looking very upset on returning from KM. She found him in his room, with his back facing the door. Geet went and turned Arjun to face her and saw him tears, pouring like a waterfall.
"Kya hua bhai-sa?" (What happened bhai?)
"Aap kal hummei chodkar chali jaayengi?" (Tomorrow you will leave me and go)
"Aap aisa kyun kah rahe hain?" (Why are you saying this?)
"Kal se aap par humara ya Singhania parivar ka adhikaar nahi rahega." (From tomorrow neither I nor Singhania family will have any right on you)
"Bhai-sa, aapka aur Singhania parivar ka hamesha hum pe adhikaar rahega. Kyunki aap aur humara parivar nahi to hum bhi nahi." (You & Singhania family will always have a right on me. Because Singhania family has given me birth & nurturing. If it was not for Singhania family, I won't be alive!)
Dadimaa walked in with all girls carrying the shagun, while Geet was trying to console Arjun by singing -
"Mahalaon ka raja mila..."

Maan also had come hidden from the enterouge, and was in a trance hearing His Mishty's voice. All girls & Savitri Devi had tears in their eyes hearing a girl's emotions while parting from her "Maika" (Maiden home). They moved upstairs to see brother & sister hugging each other & crying.

Beautiful updates. Lovely moments haldi/Sangeetha brother sister. But what stayed with me for some reason dadi words to maan not yo disrespect geet. Knowing maans anger he will do that for sure at some point. He will not mean it but in a fit of anger he will but repent later which is of no use. Just hope he does mot
