Chapter 1- Reality of life

It had been good 2 months for Ronit and Sonakshi in their pretend dating phase. Both of them have become highly comfortable and used to each other. So much that, whenever Rohit would be free he would land up at KPK set to spend time with Sonakshi and whenever Sonakshi would be free he would call her over to his hospital or his house. They both first started spending so much time with each other to show Rohit’s family but now this had become their routine. Without realising, they had started taking the pretend dating very seriously. Sonakshi had been trying a lot to be careful with her feelings but Rohit would end up anywhere to meet her and she couldn’t control herself. Sonakshi would not herself go to Rohit’s house or hospital unless invited constantly reminding herself that it would end soon. Initially, they had decided for 15 days but when these 2 months passed they didn’t even realise.

Sonakshi has been invited to Sippy mansion by Veena today. She went there to see Veena really excited to see her. They had a long chat about the traditions and life of the Sippys.

Sonakshi

Muje Veena aunty se jhoot bolke bahut bura lag raha hai. Kitne sapne saja liye hai unhone.

I wish Veena aunty and my equation remains the same forever. She is the understanding mother I never had.

“Kya hua Sonakshi? Bore ho gayi?” Veena made a sad face

“Nai vo mai bas soch rai thi ki mai kitni lucky hoon ki meri zindagi koi aap jaisa hai.” Sonakshi smiled tearful

“Arre meri bachi, lucky toh Rohit hai trust me.” She smiled and hugged Sonakshi

“Waise kuch poochu?” She asked with twinkle in her eyes

“Ji poochiye.” Sonakshi smiled

“Hum dost haina?”

“Of course aunty”

“You know hamari family mein sab na bahut romantic hai. Kuch tumhare aur Rohit ke baare mein batao na. Itne mahine ho gaye kuch toh hua hoga.” Veena asked teasing

“Nai aunty aisa kuch nai hai.” She blushed

“Arre don’t tell me mera Rohit itna slow hai. Kiss bhi nai?” She sounded disappointed

Rohit who heard the conversation came in to save Sonakshi.

“MAAA. Hogi vo aapki dost par aap meri maa hai ye nai bhulegi vo. Aap usse embarrass mat karo.”

“Arre par muje jaana Rohit. Chalo tumhi baata do.” She smiled cutely again

“Maa aapko dad bula rahe the. Also, muje Sonakshi se baat karni hai.” He said pulling Sonakshi to his room to which Veena giggled.

As Rohit and Sonakshi reached his room, he fell on the bed laughing.

“Haaso haaso! Aur haaso. You have left me alone in all this. You know tumhari family tumhe kuch nai puchti par mere peeche pad gai hai hamari personal life ke baare mein.” She sighed

“I’m sorry but it was too funny. Parvati aur Kunal ke kuch hasin pal bayan kar deti.” He said and started laughing again.

“Listen Dr. Surgeon, ek toh I’m in this because of you and you don’t help also.” She said still standing at the door.

Rohit saw his mom walking towards his room and he quickly pulled Sonakshi inside in the middle of the room and interlocked his fingers behind her.

“Rohit..”

“Shhh”

He caressed her cheeks with his slowly and then hugged her.

“Sona, you’re the best thing that’s happened to me.”

Sonakshi’s eyes were closed. She knew she had feelings for this man and he was making it further difficult for her.

Rohit saw his mom grinning like a kid and enjoying their personal moments. He decided to level up his game and kissed her neck. He could feel her falling weak thus he held her tight from behind. Veena quickly left has she saw her son kissing his girlfriend to which Rohit smiled.

As he took his head slightly back, he saw her. Her eyes closed, her hands comfortably taking his chests support and her lips shivering. He smiled and in that moment went ahead and hugged her tightly. He gently nuzzled her neck and kissed her lightly there only to realise that his mom was long gone. He slowly parted from her, still too close to her but somehow he didn’t want to move back.

Rohit

Ye kya ho gaya tha muje? Sonakshi mujpe itna bharosa karti hai aur mai? Vo meri dost hai. Aur jo maine kiya vo galat.

I’m sorry Sonakshi, I can’t tell you the truth. Mai tumhe nai kho sakta.

“Sonakshi?” I called

She looked damn beautiful. Her eyes closed, nervously standing with my support and hands tightly holding on to my shirt. I have to agree in this very moment my feelings for her do not seem friendly.

“Mom thi. Sorry. Vo abhi just gai.” I said

Sonakshi’s eyes shot open. Her eyes were red and tears about to fall or maybe I was overanalysing. I hope so.

“Meri aakh mein kuch chala gaya hai. I’ll use the washroom.” She said and left quickly

I closed my eyes and sighed. I cannot fail to understand her. She looked hurt. Of course she would be hurt. Using her to show mom was a bad idea.

Sonakshi

I fell on the floor crying as I closed the door of Rohit’s washroom. I knew I had feelings for Rohit still ended up in this pretence and now this. The moment which could the world to be was mere pretence for him.

“Why can’t he love me?” I silently asked myself.

“I have to maintain my distance.” I got up determined.

“This can’t happen. He has to stay in his limits. This is the first and last time I lost control this way.”

I can’t even tell him anything right now. What if he questions me on my reaction. No not now. I should leave.

I quickly washed my face and went outside to see a stressful Rohit.

“Sonakshi...” he started

“Not now. I got to go to the set. Netraji needs me.” I quickly tried to run away.

“Sonakshi, I’m sorry if you felt bad” he told me as he held my wrist.

“I hope now Veena aunty doesn’t keep on asking me” I tried to fake smile.

I could see he had caught my lie but I didn’t care and made my way out of the Sippy mansion.

I got in my car and immediately called Netraji.

“I need you. Can I come home?”

“Of course Sona. Kya hua?” She asked me

“Kuch nai bas I was missing you.” And I cut the call.

As Netraji opened the door, I flung into her arms hugging her tightly and crying. I couldn’t hold it anymore. I’m not stupid. I know my feelings. I also know it won’t be reciprocated.

“I love Rohit. What should I do?” I cried

“Break off with him. How long can you two pretend? I can’t see you hurt this way.” Netraji consoled Sonakshi

“Why is this happening?” I cried

“Trust me break off. It will solve lot of your problems.”

“What do you mean?”

“Maybe it will make rohit realise the importance of you in his life.”

“He wants to be my best friend.”

“Well it’s high time he realises that if you pretend to be dating your bestie, you cannot be besties anymore.”

“You’re correct. I need to be out of this. I’ll tell him. I want to move on.”

“That’s like my girl.” Netraji hugged me.

I left for home determined that I have to tell Rohit tomorrow that we must start planning our break up. It’s high time. I’m not going to hurt anymore.

Rohit

I kept tossing and turning on my bed. All I could think of was that I lied to her. It’s wrong. Why is this happening? If this happens again she might just leave me.

“I will make it up to you, Sonakshi.” I was determined.
