One of the biggest announcements that was made this year was the reunion of blockbuster duo Sanjay Leena Bhansali and Salman Khan after the actor’s short stint in 2007 in Saawariya. The two have delivered together films like Khamoshi and Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam which continue to be cult classics in Hindi cinema even today.

Inshallah was announced in March on Alia Bhatt’s birthday as a surprise for the audience. The film would have been the first time Alia and Salman would have shared screen space but unfortunately, the film seems to have taken a wrong turn as news of it being shelved surfaced yesterday. Confirming the film’s status, a source close to the production house and the director revealed, 'Sanjay Leela Bhansali respects and loves his actors and suggestions are welcome but not if they aim to alter the narrative. Hence, he has taken the decision to shelve the film. However, they are still friends and Sanjay Leela Bhansali has immense love and respect for him.'

This is not the first time the actor and director have had a fall out. Their creative differences lead to quite the turmoil during the shoot of Khamoshi and Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam as well. Salman was unhappy with the ending of the latter as he wanted the film to end with his character getting the girl, Nandini played by Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, but Bhansali was clear of his vision and ignored Salman’s change in the narrative. The two further fell out during Guzaarish when Bhansali offered the film to Hrithik Roshan. Salman was so upset that he made comments about the film being a total disaster and a flop at the box-office.

With Inshallah’s announcement, one expected to see the duo make it big yet again on the silver screen, but we guess we all will have to wait just a little bit longer before that happens.
