Part 5

In the morning, Prerna got Kuki ready for school, made breakfast for Kuki and Rishabh and then got ready to go to college. She was really excited to attend college again. Rishabh wished her all the best which increased her confidence. He also assured her that he will take Kuki back from school and she can come at her leisure as it’s her first day at college. She felt like giving him another hug for his sweetness but controlled herself and left for college, giving him a grateful smile.

She had some other plans today. As it was her birthday, she had decided that, there would be no better day than this to confess her feelings to him. So she decided to tell him after coming back. She enjoyed her day in college. She was very happy to meet her old friends, and even made some new ones. She sincerely attended all her classes, but all the while was very nervous and excited about confessing her feelings to Rishabh.

Prerna practically ran out of the college as soon as the classes got over. She quickly got in the car that was sent by Rishabh to pick her up, and told Ram to practically fly towards Bajaj Mansion. When she entered the house she was stunned to see the Mansion decorated in gold, silver and black theme. She saw some people still working on adorning the place with elegant white orchids. Kuki ran towards her mumma and Prerna picked her up in her arms, giving her kisses on both cheeks. She gestured that she missed Prerna a lot.

‘Mumma ne bhi aapko bohot miss kiya’, Prerna replied and kissed her forehead lovingly. Rishabh watched the mother daughter duo from a distance. ‘Accha Kuki… yeh sab kya ho raha hai?’, Prerna asked confused about the decorations. Kuki told in her sign language that it’s the preparation for her birthday party.

‘Birthday Party? Mere liye?’, she asked surprised.

‘Aap Mrs. Bajaj hai’, Rishabh said walking towards them. He came and stood before her with a smirk. ‘Aapne kaise soch liya ki aapka birthday yunhi bina kisi celebration ke pura ho jayega?’, he asked teasing her.

‘Toh yeh sab aapka plan tha?’, she asked him with a raised brow.

‘Nahi’, he said and she looked puzzled. ‘Humara… right Princess?’, he said looking at Kuki who immediately went into her papa’s arms. Prerna smiled at her daughter.

‘Par.. is sabki kya jarurat thi Rishabh?’, she asked her husband.

‘Jarurat thi Prerna.. Aap Mrs. Bajaj hai, aur aapka janamdin usi shaan se manega, jaisa Bajaj family ke members ka hona chahiye’, Rishabh replied with pride in his voice. She smiled at him. ‘Ab aap jaiye. Freshen up and get ready, guests aate hi honge. And don’t worry about Kuki, use aaj main taiyar karunga… hain na Princess?’, Rishabh looked at his daughter who nodded and hugged him.

‘Okay. But dhyan rakhna Princess… kahi aapko taiyar karte karte, papa khud ready hona na bhul jaye..’, Prerna said teasingly and Kuki giggled with her mother. Rishabh rolled his eyes and took Kuki to her room to get ready.

Prerna decided that she will confess her feelings after the party and went to get ready. When she entered their room she found two evening gowns and a jewellery box laid out on the bed. One was Red and the other was Royal Blue. She smiled at her husband's consideration of giving her choices to select from. He knew that red was her favourite colour, but she decided that she will wear the blue one tonight as she knew that he liked blue.

She took a quick bath and wore the beautiful and elegant royal blue dress. But she was having some difficulty with the dress’s zip. She tried to close it but it got stuck.

‘Ridhi… Ridhi… Alka ji..’, she tried calling the house maids but no one responded. All the servants of the house were busy with the party preparation.

‘Alka ji.. Ridhi… koi hai kya waha please meri help kar dijiye’, she tried calling again. Rishabh who was passing by the room heard her voice and entered the room. He was pleasantly surprised watching her in the blue dress, but he saw her struggling with the zip of her dress. She must have heard someone enter the room as she said, ‘Accha hua tum aa gayi…main kabse awaz de rahi thi... Ridhi please meri help kar do na, lagta hai yeh zip atak gayi hai..’.

Rishabh realised what she asked, but he was hesitant to do that. She was already looking stunning in that dress, plus the exposed part of her back was having an effect on him.

‘Ab khadi kyu ho jaldi karo na..’, Prerna said again. He sighed and approached her. He slowly forwarded his hand to her zip.

‘Rishabh..’, she gasped as soon as his fingers accidentally touched her skin. He was surprised that she recognised his touch. She turned around to look at him embarrassed.

‘I.. I am sorry… ‘, he said and it hurt her that he apologised for touching her. ‘Aap help ke liye bula rahi thi aur main bahar hi tha toh… I’ll send Ridhi. Woh aapki help kar degi’, he replied and started to leave from there. Prerna knew it was due to her words that he stays away from her. And she understood that she herself has to do something about it.

‘Rishabh…’, she called him and he turned to look at her. ‘Uhh.. party ke liye late ho raha hai… aap Ridhi ko bhejenge toh aur bhi late ho jayega… aap.. Aap hi zip laga dijiye..’, she asked him hesitantly. He walked towards her.

‘Are you sure Mrs. Bajaj?’, he asked and she nodded. She turned around so that he could close the zip. He forwarded his hand and gently swept her hair aside. She took a deep breath and closed her eyes at his gentle touch. She could feel his warm breath on her back, and she felt like turning around and hug him tightly.

Rishabh's state was no different. He felt his heart race as his fingers touched her soft skin. And her flowery fragrance was intoxicating him. He held the zip and closed it slowly in place. He removed his hands from her back and took a step back.

'Its done', he told her and she opened her eyes. She let out the breath she didn't realise that she was holding. He was about to leave but she stopped him again.

'Rishabh..', and he looked at her with a raised brow. She didn't say anything but just walked towards the dressing table and picked up the necklace box from there. Rishabh looked confused at her actions. Prerna turned to look at him and held the box up at him. He looked even more confused. If she didn't want to wear the necklace, she could have kept it there itself. Why was she giving it back to him he wondered.

'It's okay if you don't want to wear it.. You don't have to..', but she cut him off.

'Nahi Rishabh.. Main bas ye kehna chahti thi ki, ab aapne itni help kar hi di hai, toh… toh yeh bhi pehena dijiye', she said looking at him expectantly. He was shocked by her request.

'Mrs. Bajaj aap ye..'

'Please Rishabh… hum already late ho gaye hai…', she requested again. He gave her a curt not and walked towards her. She turned around to stand before the mirror. Rishabh opened the jewellery box and took the necklace in his hands. He put his hands above her head and placed the beautiful diamond necklace around her neck. She held her hair aside to help him tie it. She looked at him in the mirror carefully tying the necklace. He felt her gaze on him. He looked in the mirror and their eyes locked. They got lost in each other's eyes.

Prerna couldn't help but think how perfect they looked as a couple. Rishabh in his striped black blazer with a royal blue tie that matched her dress. Him standing behind her with his arms around her over her shoulders. They made a perfect picture of a man and wife. She couldn't help but smile a little at the thought. Rishabh was snapped back to reality at her smile. He looked back at the task at hand breaking the eyelock. He quickly clasped the necklace in place and pulled his hands back from her.

'I will wait outside.. Aap jaldi aaiye', he said and quickly left the room. She shook her head at him trying to stay away from her.

She quickly brushed her hair, and went out of the room where he was standing in the corridor, waiting for her.

'Chale?', she asked him standing beside him. He nodded wordlessly and held his arm for her to hold on. She thanked heavens that even if for a showing to the world, she could at least walk in the party on his arms.

Both of them descended the stairs looking like a perfect couple. The guests have already started arriving. Prerna felt really happy as she saw her family waiting for her to come down. She quickly ran and hugged her mother. Their relationship was back to normal after Veena accepted Mr. Bajaj as her son in law slowly with time. Shivi has also realised that Mr. Bajaj was a very genuine person and she respected him a lot now.

Prerna took Veena's blessings and hugged Shivi, Shekhar and Suman bhabhi. Rishabh too followed her and took Veena's blessings. Kuki ran towards her massi Shivi and nani Veena who showered her with kisses.

Rishabh then led Prerna to meet other guests while Kuki opted to play with her Shivi massi. Just then a beautiful girl with a black saree entered the party and Rishabh walked towards her with a smirk. Surprised Prerna followed him.

'Miss Bose… glad you could come', he said and shook the girl's hand. She looked a couple of years older than Prerna, but Prerna had to agree she was really pretty. And it made Prerna uncomfortable that she made no effort to leave her husband's hand.

'Come on Mr. Bajaj, aap bulaye aur… koi na aaye aisa kaise ho sakta hai?... And please call me Shanaya', she replied with a charming smile to gain his attention. He smiled at her lightly and took his hand back from hers.

'Fine Shanaya… let me introduce you to my wife', he said and looked at Prerna. 'She is Mrs. Prerna Bajaj, my wife and Prerna, she is Miss Shanaya Bose, Kolkata ki renowned novel editor. She has decided to join our Homemaking Publications as editor', Rishabh introduced the two women.

'Ohh that's really nice! Welcome to Bajaj Industries Miss Bose', Prerna greeted her with a smile. 'It's nice to meet you'

'It's nice to meet you too Mrs. Bajaj… Happy Birthday!', she wished Prerna, but Prerna didn't feel any warmth from her.

'Rishabh mere kuch friends aapse milna chahte hai', Prerna said and led him away from Shanaya. Rishabh internally smirked as he realised what she was trying to do. They met Prerna's friends, whom Rishabh had invited himself for the party. Prerna felt really happy and grateful towards her husband, as she again realised how caring he was.

Guests were still arriving and among the coming guests Prerna saw a familiar face.

'Anurag?', she whispered confused. And she saw Nivi di and Anupam as well entering behind Anurag. As much as she was happy to see Nivi di and Anupam on her birthday, she was uncomfortable watching Anurag there. Although their interactions were lessened considerably after her leaving Basu Badi, Anurag was still that obsessed guy who wants her back in his life. He was not ready to accept that she had moved on in her life.

'Anurag yaha kya kar raha hai?', she mumbled to herself confused which Rishabh seemed to have heard.

'Mr. Basu ko… maine invite kiya hai', Rishabh told her and she looked at him shocked.

'Aapne? Par kyu?', she asked him.

'Agar main nahi bhi bulata toh wo bin bulaye aa jate, as it's Your birthday', he said stressing on the "your". 'Aur agar wo jabardasti party me ate to koi na koi bakheda khada karte, and I didn't want ki aapka birthday kharab ho… isiliye maine khud unhe formally invite kar diya', he replied. She felt nice that he cared for her and didn't want her birthday celebrations to be spoilt. But she was not quite happy about Anurag being there

Coming to this chapter. I can't stop my excitement knowing she is planning to confess on her birthday🥳. But he has a surprise for her. I love when he mentions her as Mrs. Bajaj, his family, so the party full dhoom dhaam se.

He gave her a choice and she choose his favorite color dress. Their moment here☺️, how he is hesitant, but she makes sure that he helps her with her dress and necklace.

Party, he called her family, her friends, and Basus too, such a caring husband. Looks like we got our next negative character introduced now.

Hopefully we won't have any drama in this party like in the show. Please, I want her confession after this party.

She is not exactly negative, but she will do her work as a catalyst in the chemical reaction called Prerna's confession... And Anurag to will play a very important role in it
