RB comes across as someone who is never dependent on anyone. In any way.

P always has seen him self-dependent for everything and in doing anything.

She doesnt realise he needs support *physically* until that happened. Took time for that to register in her mind and then started reacting accordingly and caressed his shoulder.

He too doesnt hold her *his promise* but he needed her at that moment for a support but he didnt express thru words for his stature plus maybe his hurtful past to keep expectations from anyone, only after he fell on her shoulders, he gave up.

This is something new for both.

Physically to be in need of each other and to be dependent on each other.
