What a lovely post. Very well written. I totally agree with all the three points of yours. Even i wanna see those changes in Kuhu's character.

Kuhu is bratty.childish, immature, selfish and self centered.Nothing wrong in that. Most of us are like this only. To survive in this cruel world you have to be little selfish. But you can't be blind that you cant see the problem in your relationship, you can't see the attitude of your husband. Kuhu should see the reality after Kunal's outburst. Actually this is the time for Kuhu to stand up for her self respect and see the real world.

I have full faith on makers that they will give a proper built up to Kuhu's character. They will not make her an abla naari or bichari types.

I chanced upon the show randomly browsing the channels one day. It was the episode in which Varsha learns that Kuhu loves Kunal. At that time I didn't know how important a character Kuhu is to the story.

We do share a somewhat similar opinion about the first episode :) I had instantly felt a connect to the banter of the two sisters. I also loved how Kaveri had this spontenity about her acting.

Wouldn't have thought that Kuhu's crush on Kunal from that day would take such a horrible turn and it would literally become a life altering moment for her.

Oh my Mum has been a regular viewer for long and I just happened to really like Mishit trying to confess to Abir on the phone with her, "Painting se badi tasveer... Sabse bada pyaar" and found them really adorable. So I started watching then. Since I was technically only watching for Mishti and Abir, I wasn't actually planning on liking anybody else but Kuhu has that charm ;)

Kaveri is great as Kuhu! I had watched very rabdom episodes but all of them were enough to realise the storyline, the day Meenu swaped the rishta, the time Mishti was made to apologize and Meenakshi's insult before that and the sangeet episodes so I never actually had any shock value :/

The sweetest part related to that incident? Kuhu actually felt guilty that she had gone overboard in expressing her anger towards Mishti by saying something nasty about her parents and wanted to make it up to her sister by baking a cake for her (even though she didn't know how to bake a cake smiley36)

Look at the subtle and telling contrast that when publically Mishti called Kuhu illegitimate and thus raised questions over her parentage, Kuhu didn't so much as say a word to Mishti about it. I mean there were a 100 times when Kuhu was insensitive towards Mishti, this was one time when Kuhu had a legit reason to be insensitive towards her sister but she didn't even bring up the topic. Can we happily assume that deep down Kuhu knows Mishti would not have done something like this, that Mishti would have never spoken about her like that.

I know right! Plus the cake is a little bit representational to their relationship. They look good from the outside, everybody can see the love it is made with, there are genuine efforts put into making but it is a little salty. Let me go #deepthought here😆

Oh if it is true, this is such a beautiful idea. Kuhu does know Mishti despite everything. If not for Kunal telling her that Mishti was only trying to be friends for a superior motive, maybe these two would have become the best of friends over the 10 days that lead to the marriage.

I remember during the time when Kuhu and Kunal's rishta was getting fixed, I read a comment on Twitter saying that Kuhu probably only 'loves' Kunal because he is rich. Would be safe to say that Kuhu in that sense has grown up. As a wife she would be seeking Kunal's love, respect and companionship.

I keep getting back to that scene with Shweta. That daimond bracelet was Kuhu's prized possession, yet she had given it to Shweta in an instant saying that it doesn't matter for her, what only matters for her is Kunal. I know making tall claims is one thing and fulfilling those is another but that scene I believe was shown to highlight that Kuhu would love Kunal regardless of his financial status.

Anyhoo, I loved that scene because it showed how self-assured and badass Kuhu could be when she wants to be. That telling glare she gives Kunal after saying "Main tumhara intezaar kar rahi hoon" was lit and held so much meaning .

Kuhu might have noticed him because of the car but over time, she knew what she wanted from the relationship, love and a companion for her life. I know, her giving Shweta the bracelet was so meaningful.

Haha, I remember. She didn't want any explanation, just come back and continue with the rasam. Would love it if she gives him back the same way now that he has told her the truth.

If I can be honest I never found Kunal's "I am feeling bad for what am doing" convincing. I just didn't find him being earnest whenever he said so except for the hotel room scene after he runs away.

He did manage to convince me because he has to have some redeeming quality. Not liking feeling bad for her makes him good. He felt bad but he didn't act upon it. Let all those schemes play so it doesn't really matter if he felt guilty. It's done :/

First things first he deserves to be rejected by Kuhu. Then he can sit and willow in self-pity about how he got rejected by the one girl who had accepted him. #sorrynotsorry

Oh this is a very nice thought. Kuhu rejecting Kunal and deciding that she should rise above these petty games. I don't think they'll let it be like this. I imaging she'll have more begging to do tomorrow, trying to convince herself that Kunal is lying. I am afraid we have some abla Kuhu moments in store before she decided to go either way, support Meenakshi/Kunal's schemes or not.

I do not want anything as badly from the story right now as I want Kuhu to show the mirror to Kunal and give it to back to him nicely for all the bs that he has thrown at her.

I wish she realizes that it is not wrong to expect love from your husband but you shouldn't do it at the expense of your self-respect.

There are a lot of things she needs to learn. It is also realising who is actually going to be there for her and who isn't.

It never came to the fore on-screen like that but the fighter spirit Kuhu was shown to have made me believe that in a badass mode she can give a real hard time to both Meenakshi and Kunal. With Mishti it's like she has a certain set of morals and even in a fight she wouldn't want to cross certain lines, I don't think that is the case with Kuhu. Which why I feel even more than Mishti, Meenakshi should be wary of her "choti bahu"

Yes the sisters are different this way. Mishti has her moral compass that she dare not ignore but Kuhu is more of the, 'for the greater good' type. I am also convinced that if she decides, she can give it back to Meenakshi nicely but then she also is very scared of Meenakshi. :(

That's actually a fair point. Kuhu's "Tu kyun aayi yahan.." wasn't actually a "just get lost from here because I can't stand your face". She did not have problem with Mishti. She was concerned about how Kunal was behaving in Mishti's presence. I know in a similar situation Mishti would have definitely prioritized her sister's presence more than how her husband is reacting but this was also a rare occasion when Kuhu was not asking Mishti to go because she wanted Mishti to go. She was asking Mishti to go because she was made to feel like Mishti should be asked to go.

That day when Kuhu actually prioritizes her sister over her hashtag hubby would be a remarkable day in the history of YRHPK.

Exactly, Kuhu has conditioned herself to think that way. It's not only her fault, her entire family does whatever Meenakshi/Kunal was asking of them because they keep believing that being ladkiwale makes their wishes a little less important. And when her mother-in-law and husband are clearly anti-Mishti, she's trying to be that way too.

I know, she needs to know that #SistersOfTheyYear is more mraningful than her #HusbandOfTheYear. Waiting for her to throw one of these hashtags in Kunal's face -.-

That was a very important scene I daresay. The mere gesture that Kunal was standing right there and Mishti was standing distantly and Kuhu didn't have to be pushed or urged by her family members to go and meet Mishti, made me feel so relieved. Even Abir got emosh seeing the two sisters :')

I know. Abir is us, praying that they find the love they were pretending to rpetend all along.

I know the fandom is pretty kicked about the fact that now that Kuhu is married that room of Kuhu and Mishti would be a great place for Abir and Mishti to secretly meet and romance, but seeing Mishti sit alone in the room in the precap actually made me feel a bit sad :(

Aww! That is also a very sweet point. I have been pretty pumped about the opportunities of romance too but would dearly miss Kuhu.

That room belonged to Kuhu and Mishti 🤧 I remember in earlier episodes there would be random moments when Kuhu would just go and hold her sister from behind, just like how friends or sisters do out of love and affection (and here these two believed that they simply don't get along and yet they had shared such endearing moments together 🤧)

That one scene where Kuhu was not able to see Mishti sad so she went and brought her favourite ice cream and then acted to eat it just to spite Mishti so that Mishti takes it, maybe argues but stops mulling around. It was so beautiful and I wouldn't mind this idea becoming the basis of all her future actions.

Haha :D Kuhu actually shipping MishBir and going on to tell her sister that there is no better guy that she or any girl in the world for that matter could find would be so endearing to watch.

I want such moments between them. Just beibg sisters. I only have a younger brother but I do share a pretty amazing bond with my cousins. Sleeping in the same bed however old we grow and then gossiping late into the night about anything and everything. Who got proposed, who dated, who fought with a friend, those are things sisters do, along with fashion advice and stuff that Mishti and Kuhu already share. So the bond is there, just needs little more digging. They need to forget their respective partners and keep giggling into the night, just such stupid sisters stuff because oh would that be amazing.

They have some of those things, lying to the family to save the other (when Kuhu told everyone she was going for the reunion and ended up in Champaner), or that fake cat fight to distract the goons. Kuhu was upset with all those things Mishti said and it wss so cute to watch.

Yes writing wise there is much to be imparted to her character. Even though we can't really say they have done a bad job at it. Far from it actually.

Her character is nicely written. She is not a good person but she is a person and consistent too.

In our tv shows MLs are given infinite opportunities to "redeem" themselves after they mistreat FLs, but a character like Kuhu is actually judged to the point that some of the people that believe she deserves the shit that is happening in her life right now. That is what really ticks me off.

True. She did call it upon herself and cannot blame anybody else but nobody deserveds what she is going to experience. She's been super rude to her family too but it is all, hopefully, a part of her character having it's own arc.

I don't want Kuhu to be sympathized with. I wouldn't mind no one feeling bad for her because it is true that she brought this upon herself. But when I see people painting her as this "bad sister" who deserves this ill fate because of the way she always treated Mishti, it simply makes me feel angry.

If Kuhu deserves this then what do Meenakshi and Kunal deserve?!

Kuhu's mistakes are mostly not realising the worth if the people around her but that's okay. A lot of us fail to realise who is important and who isn't. We simply chose one person over the other based on who makes us happier. Kuhu truly believed Kunal will make her the happiest and so she just prioritized him. Now it's tine for her to realise the mistake and try to work in herself again, try to go back to what she was before Kunal but also a little bit better than that.

Meenakshi and Kunal however are only acting based on their notions and egos. So, yes, disliking them is valid. Their actions so far have had only one motive, putting Mishti down. Kuhu actually believed she was doing all this for love and fighting for love is a very good idea. Meenakshi and Kunal just thought Mishti isn't good enough for Abir because she rejected Kunal, whuch makes no sense🙄

Off topic if I may add, Abir is an absolute sweetheart and there is no doubting the nobility of his intentions but it's surprising that no one is talking about how he shouldn't have hidden it from Mishti that Kunal had run away from the house on the day of wedding. Especially when he had himself told Mishti that she should speak truth to him at all times, hiding something like this could pose a major problem. Nothing that Abir and Mishti can't discuss and overcome, but still...

These two have a lot of secrets and I guess this will be a point of argument when Kuhu and Kunal's relationship dynamic comes out in the open. They were so convinced that Kunal and Kuhu were perfect that they saw everything as a sign of love and when Kunal said the same, they easily believed it. They will probably both feel guilty of tying Kuhu in that relation too. I can't watch stressed ties between Abir and Mishti. That would definitely stress me out🤔

I love her too. And hence we should brace ourselves because it's going to be very important now how they shape her character. It can go either ways and am hoping her character would learn and evolve for the good 🤞

I truly hope they do her justice. There is so much to do and so many ways to do that. God, let them let Kuhu become the best version of herself possible.

Your ramblings are much appreciated my friend ;)

Hehe, thanks for entertaining my long texts! I love discussing this.

Great post. I mentioned something similar a few days back. That Kunal and Kuhu's story still has so much scope. Kunal is a lot more than his hate for Mishi and Kuhu is a lot more than her obsession for Kunal. Kuhu has been selfish and nasty on a lot of occasions and super ignorant when it comes to Kunal but no one deserves the kind of marriage she has been subjected to. I wish Mishti wondered why it was so easy for Meenakshi to blackmail her and make her insult Kuhu if Kunal loved her so much. I wish Abir wondered why Kunal let Kuhu beg him multiple times and why it was so easy for him to run away if Kunal loved Kuhu so much. There has been so much drama and everything happened within such a short period that no one thought this through with clarity. Kuhu maybe flawed but one thing we can't question is her absolute loyalty for Kunal. Even when Mishti caught her in that e-mail fiasco and blasted her, Kuhu took it all and did not even contemplate exposing Kunal's involvement in it. And like some rightly pointed out, she has handled Kunal's past and his ex with absolute dignity.

My biggest problem with Kuhu is that she is petty and says really horrible things to Mishti/about Mishti in a lot of situations. Calling someone a puppy/charity case is really not done. Maybe it is her eagerness to please Kunal but I want the writers to work on this now. I don't want her to become Meenu's puppet just to please Kunal. I want her to rise above this and give it back to him. Kunal loves victimizing himself. He blames everyone from Mishti to his mom to his bhai to Kuhu but there is zilch introspection on his part. He fails to see that he fell for his mom's manipulation and was okay with playing with a girl's feelings just to 'save' his bhai. He fails to see that he led the girl on and was okay with ditching her at the aisle for some stupid agenda of his. He fails to see that he was okay with his mom blackmailing Mishti and making her insult his 'fiancee' just so his bhai hates Mishti. I can't believe he has the audacity to scream at Kuhu and throw it on her face that its a deal when the irony is that she is the victim and he is the perpetrator. Once Kuhu overcomes the initial shock, I want her to grow up. I want the writers to do justice to this arch and bring in the much needed maturity to her character post this reality check. I also want her to stop being desperate and show Kunal the mirror. This can lead to Kunal eventually introspecting and acknowledging his fault and them growing beyond their mutual Mishti hate and forging a friendship. This story frankly has scope if only the writers look beyond Meenakshi and her usual scheming and plotting.

I love Abir-Mishti and they are the reason I watch this show but I'd love to see Kunal-Kuhu develop as a parallel track. I might as well watch that apart from AM rather than Meenakshi, Kunal and Kuhu senselessly plotting together to separate Abir-Mishti. This can also lead to wonderful dynamics among other characters like Abir-Kunal, Abir-Kuhu and of course Mishti-Kuhu beyond the superficial scenes.

P.S. Am not holding my breath though because its on Star Plus at prime time and their primary objective is TRP 😆

Kuhu and Kunal truly have scope but Kunal has a lot of work to do now since he is planning to do a lot more in his "Bhai ke loye pyaar and Mishti ke liye nafrat" quest. Yes Kuhu has done a lot of things that cannot be justified especially everything she said to Mishti and did to her just to please Kunal. That is one of her biggest flaws, she always tries to look the best. She even lied about her interests in singing and dancing because Kunal claimed to not like them. It isn't that big a deal but it is pretty signifcant, she is ready to do anything, even fundamentally change, or at least pretend to, change herself.

Yes, she is ready to go lengths for her loved ones too, she just cannot prioritize them. She has been indulging in her fairytale with Kunal too much to look around herself, also failing to see all the red flags in her relationship with him.

That is probably one of the worst things she could do, going as far as saying those things about Mishti just to make sure her relation with Kunal isn't compromised. One of the biggest fears is her turning to Meenu in order to please Kunal which will be horrible to watch. I want to see Kuhu-Mishti become the best of friends but Meenakshi's (unjustified, may I add) hatred for Mishti will only make Kuhu do the most terrible possible things.

Kunal is delusional, failing to realise his contribution to everything that is happening to himself. Even though your Mom suggested it, you could have easily walked out of that plan and not end up where you currently are Kunal.

Right! He is going to very sadly explain her all that and begin playing victim again. How can he be so blind to his own faults?

@bold - Agreed. Kuhu first needs to grow and then make sure Kunal does. Everybody around him failed to realise everything that was problematic with his behaviour. Everyone can see he took the rejection so badly when he was hardly invest in the relation and keeps blaming Mishti for it. Even Kuhu herself has gone so far as blaming Mishti when it is because of this rejection that Kuhu and Kunal were even possible.

Meenakshi needs to take the backseat, let the four of them drive the plot now. She did what she had to do and she can engage in arguments with Parul and futile attempts to win back her sons but she needs to stop going after the sisters just because she believes it will break her parivaar. She doesn't want to see that all these problems actually lie within her parivaar itself abd are sufficient to break it without and external involvement.

There are so many things to explore if given the chance. Like you said, it being a Star Plus show makes it strive on TRP. The moment that it fails to bring in the numbers, we can expect a major, definitely not understandable flip from the characters :/

Fantastic post. I hope something like this happens to Kuhu.

After Kunal's revelation Kuhu will for sure realise that she fell in love with the sports car not driver of that car. She will realise why Mishti wanted mel milap.

Yes! I love character who have flaws, flaws that I can understand the root of, because then that means they can go through experiences and learn what is harmful to them and what should be kept as part of them.

This is my only wish, Kuhu should undergo a change. She's been begging for this marriage, she's been the happiest we have seen her and when finally she knows it was farce, there has to be a big melt down. The fact that she'll have nobody to pick up those broken pieces thrills me. So much scope for her developing into what I hope she becomes.

Yep. It's all a calm before the storm as they call it. Kuhu has no idea what's waiting for her. Let's see how she reacts to everything now that the rug has been pulled from under her.

Kuhu and Kunal were beautiful too, in the beginning. Her asking him to live a little, the positivity ahe brought into his life. A very general ITV trope but it is cliché because it is loved. I had so many hopes for them too. I have been wanting this. That Kunal and Kuhu come to an agreement to be civil. While all her rosy, romantic expectations have come to crash, there is a certain partnership that they both need. Kunal literally has someone so different in his corner, who is ready to be COMPLETELY biased for him. Kuhu also has a more mature weight balancing her scale now. They have so much room to grow. They should start from where they had left very initially. When Kunal had asked her to be friends even after the rejection. They need to pick up from that. There was no love, only this need for love from Kuhu's end. The slightest bit of affection, fake nonetheless, from Kunal's end had her 'in love'. Can't wait for her to realise what love actually is. Not entirely like Abir and Mishti's since theirs is completely unique but anything is better than her current feelings of dependance on Kunal.

Yes, in the beginning it seemed more like a contrast between Kuku and Mishbir. Abir was telling Mishti to live a little and Kuhu was doing the same to Kunal. That was a good strategy. With Kunal's manipulation, the contrast went to extreme where Mishbir formed a beautiful relationship and Kuku kept going downhill. As I stated I do want them to be friends first. I don't even know what that would entail and how long it would take Kunal to get his head out of his ass. But yes I agree, if handled well, these two would only grow as characters and grow closer together. But of course Kuhu will be crying for a bit before that happens :(

I said this earlier, I'll say it again. Kunal is her Prince Charming, not because of any of his redeeming qualities but because he hates Mishti. She feels like she finally has a safe space, a person who understands why she feels that Mishti is a villian, somebody who agrees with that (WILD) standpoint.

Yes, we all need some validation. I think maybe Varsha and Jasmeet agreeing with Kuhu may feel like its because they love Kuhu and not because Mishti is wrong. But with Kunal, he keeps insisting that Mishti is at fault with everything. So I agree with this point, if we really want to dig into it.

I don't actually have a problem with her being selfish, since that gives her a real tinge but yes, she needs to learn adjustment. Mishti's said this before, even if they hate each other, they are family. That's how it works. She needs to learn to give a little. She takes things for granted and that is not okay. She isn't selfish, just ungrateful, I guess? Being selfless is extremely unhealthy, since Mishti literally was ready to ruin her equations with everyone so that Kuhu could get married. If not for Abir to be such an ALIEN character to ITV, we would be at 1 year later :/

Yes. I'm tired of angelic morally right female leads. THOSE DONT EXIST. People like Kuhu do exist. Because women are selfish, want whats ours, are jealous, BUT that's great that Kuhu is shown to be that because since she's a character we have a chance to see how she goes from an entitled brat to someone who appreciates people around her. Whatever Mishti's fault is, Kuhu has taken her for granted because Mishti does forgive and forget a lot of things.

Kuhu and Mishti are my ultimate OTP in the show. Period. Their development is what I am waiting for. What I am watching for. (I mean of course all the MishBir cuteness is a MAJOR reason but Kuhu-Mishti's dynamic is just so interesting *heart eyes*)

When they were kids, Mishti was apparently Mishti Didu to Kuhu or something. Mishti moving in must have had such a profound impact on Kuhu. I want to see that! All sisters argue on so many things but at the end of the day, they are just that. Two girls who love each other and can do anything for the other. Kuhu loves Mishti and a part of her knows that too but the other, immature side of her keeps herself convinced that Mishti dislikes her and as a "coping" technique (couldn't find a better word) she keeps up the hate. Today, when she asked Mishti why she came back, she wasn't extremely wrong. Literally everyone knows Kunal hates Mishti and if your groom just leaves you stranded and walks out of your wedding venue, for whatever reason, you are bound to get upset. As for why she can't express her love for Mishti, she is married to Kunal. Kuhu has seen Kunal wanting to break off the wedding at every given opportunity and she sees this relationship as her "saviour". Kunal loathes Mishti. How could she possibly express love when her now husband tends to go all "not getting married" every two seconds. This is the most alarming sign that Kuhu blindly ignores. Once she sees past this, my Mishti-Kuhu ship will sail, and I can't wait.

YES YES YES. But then again, the wedding is so important to Kuhu that I thought for once she'd want Mishti to be there. But I loved the bidai scene, it was really heartwarming. Yeah I think Kuhu's had a tunnel vision about the wedding and marriage with Kunal in general so when she starts seeing straight, we'll FINALLY get Kuhu and Mishti's relationship to start heading in the right direction.

This 'love' for Kunal is currently her most probpematic characteristic and on Monday when it finally breaks, she will change. For better or for worse :/ That's what I am not ready for. Maybe she just begins, "Kunal is saying this because he hates Mishti and is currently brainwashed. Everything is Mishti's faults."

OR

"Mishti ruined my life. I and my feelings were used in this stupid manic revenge plan. Everything is Mishti's fault."

OR (the best of them all)

"I failed to see all these red flags. His hatred for Mishti lead him to do all this crap. I need to better myself. Make sure this marriage I ended up in doesn't turn out to be a the worst. Need to mend my relations with the sister I secretly love so much. Mishti was never at fault." I HOPE SO

Kuhu and Kuhu

Let's state it, the day Kuhu begins to realise she is more than what she lets herself believe, the YRHPK world will be a bit better. The show has been such a beautiful journey of Mishti and Abir, with Abir constantly being one of the best men I have seen, with his respect for women so clearly visible and his support for Mishti, dream-like. Kuhu's husband won't be that for her, at least not for a long time. One of the reasons Abir was ready to support Mishti always is because he knew she is strong and will fight for herself and what she believes is right. Kuhu needs to do that. Not because Mishti does it but because she needs that in her life. She needs to pursue her interests.

When she wanted to learn the Japanese flower decoration (Ikebana, I think?), everybody praising Mishti got to her. She let her interest fall behind in this battle to prove herself better. If there is one characteristic of Kuhu that stands out is jealousy. She lets her jealousy rule every decision she makes. She took up a job she had no interest in (and no idea how to do it) because she wanted to compete with Mishti. The family is also somehow at fault. Kids need validation. I know Mishti has had a troubled past, she is my soft girl and needs to be protected at all costs <3 but Kuhu had also been a very silent kid. She is illegitimate and it isn't easy for them either. We know Kuhu has a mature side to her, she knows how to put up a brave face if that means her family is happy. Even when she believed she loved Kunal, she was ready to let it go because everyone thought Mishti and Kunal were perfect and Mishti would be happy with him.

I love the way she is written, honestly. There are a lot of problematic things but her actions always make sense. You know exactly why she does what she does. I need her to grow self-confident and dependant. I cannot wait for it!

Im so glad Mishti's characterized the way she is but Kuhu deserves that growth too. She deserves to understand that the jealousy, insecurity and fear are toxic feelings. Hopefully it's either through individually or with Mishti that she'll learn this but it needs to happen gradually and not in one go. In conclusion, the POTENTIAL of Kuhu thrills me!

(Sorry if it's too long. I tend to ramble :P)

okay hi i know I'm a bit late but work's got me swamped so I'm finally here because I need to express the potential Kuhu has. So thanks for listening to me ramble as well!

I'm not going to lie. I dislike Kuhu!! From the very first episode, she's rubbed me the wrong way.

That being said, I would definitely like to see her character grow. She needs to take responsibility for her actions. I'm absolutely sick of her blaming Mishti for everything.

Agreed, that both Mishti and Kuhu are responsible for the mess their relationship is in but Kuhu is nasty compared to Mishti.

Kunal not loving her and her marriage being a sham might be the reality check needed for her to stop playing the blame game. No one is to be blamed except her!! For goodness sake, she fell in "love" with Kunal because he drives a sportscar!! Like seriously!!! At every turn, she's begged Kunal for this rishta....that should have raised red flags but no...she ignores it all and bends over backwards for Kunal!

I honestly want to see her grow. I might never like her but I would defo like to see change for the better!!
