Mission Mangal Is A Huge HIT

Mission Mangal is a huge HIT as it recorded collections of 8.50-8.75 crore nett on Monday. There is a drop of 50% plus from the Friday and the major multiplexes have fallen even more but there has been a huge drop in ticket prices at these multiplexes as they were at blockbuster levels for the first five days. The film is among the top three HITS of the year with Kabir Singh and Uri - The Surgical Strike.

The drop is more in the big multiplexes due this reduction in ticket prices but the overall number is still very good for a Monday and there is an open weekend to come where the film should dominate again. The total collections of the film are 105 crore nett in five days and the extended week should be around 125 crore nett. The film is sure to cruise past the figures of Kesari in no time. A 10 crore nett Monday would probably have even given the film a shot at 200 crore nett but that would have been a crazy number for this type of film which has limited commercial elements and an audience mainly in the big cities.

The film will be best in Mumbai, West Bengal and Mysore and all three are sure to set new highs for Akshay Kumar starrers. The first five day business of Mission Mangal is as follows.

Mangal Mission And Balta House Tuesday Estimates

Mission Mangal has had another solid day with collections in the 7.50-7.75 crore nett range. This takes the business of the film to almost 113 crore nett in six days. The drop was very limited at multiplexes as they consolidated after the drop on Monday. The film should cross the 125 crore nett mark in its extended first week which would have been a good result if it was the lifetime business this film. Mumbai and Mysore held up very strongly on Tuesday and even Gujarat did not show much of a drop.

Batla house is holding up well on weekdays with a limited drop on Tuesday. The collections hardly dropped as the film collected around 4.25 crore nett and this takes the total of the film to 52 crore nett plus. It can finish the week very close to the 60 crore nett mark. If the film continues to sustain like this into the second week it could even turn out to be a HIT though there is a long way to go yet.

Mission Mangal Continues Strong Run

Mission Mangal continued its strong run on Tuesday as it collected 7.50 crore nett to take its six day total to 112.50 crore nett. The collections dropped at multiplexes on Monday due to the huge drop in ticket rates which were at holiday blockbuster rates for five days but on Tuesday these big multiplexes were steady with minimal drop of 5-7%.

There was a drop in mass markets on Tuesday but still the numbers from likes of CPCI Rajasthan and Bihar are pretty good for a film which does not really have the mass elements. These places will feel the heat eventually but as its got the initial numbers so the final totals in all these markets will be good.

The first week is heading for a little over 125 crore nett and then it will be the second Friday drop which will tell where the film is going and the multiplexes especially in the bigger cities should hold hold well and do very good business over the weekend. The film has the potential to get a huge 175 crore nett plus total on the board but it depend on the second week. The colelctions of Mission Magal till date are as follows.

Mission Mangal had a normal drop of around 10-12% to collect 6.50-6.75 crore nett on Wednesday. It followed a similar trend to Tuesday when it dropped a similar amount. Wednesday has seen some film which were steady on the first weekdays drop of but Mission Mangal has not gone that. The film is doing good numbers and the first seven day total is around 119 crore nett.

The first week total is the second highest ever for an Akshay Kumar starrer after 2.0 (Hindi) which did around 127 crore nett. The highest outright Hindi film first week total is Kesari with 97 crore nett.

Batla also showed a similar 10-12% fall as it collected 3.75 crore nett for a first seven day total of 56 crore nett. Last Year Satyameva Jayate had collected 59 crore nett in its first seven days so Batla House is slowly catching that film as that film had opened 35% more Balta House but after seven days that gap is down to just 6%.

Finally I watched Mission Mangal . It leaves much to be desired.

If this is the movie that received "critical acclaim" from movie reviewers in Indian newspapers than why did a movie like Total Dhamal did not receive the same ? Mission Mangal is a cliched, regressive, flawed movie . ISRO, Army are some of the very very few institutions left in India that can still hold their head high . Bollywood is milking the impeccable reputation of these institutions to mint money from their third rate movies.

Mission Mangal is making money only because ISRO's name is attached to it . Producers of Mission Mangal should donate half of their money to ISRO because there third rate product is selling only due to ISRO tag.

Mission Mangal Has Excellent Extended First Week

Mission Mangal had an excellent excellent extended first week of 125 crore nett. The film is among the top three HITS of the year along with Kabir Singh and Uri - The Surgical Strike and will also probably be the the biggest Akshay Kumar hit in the last five years or so.

The film has done very strong business in Mumbai, Mysore and West Bengal. In West Bengal it has done what 2.0 (Hindi) did in its lifetime and that is the biggest Akshay Kumar grosser in West Bengal till date. In Mysore it is a crore or so short of the Airlift total which is the biggest Akshay Kumar film in Mysore. Both circuits will set new highs for Akshay Kumar grossers over the weekend.

The film could have held stronger over the weekdays considering its weekend trend but there was more than normal drop of ticket rates on Monday and then Hindi circuits were going to find it difficult to hold the levels of business the film is doing. The film has still managed to finish Thursday with a 6 crore nett number which is very good and now it is about the hold on the second Friday. Mission Mangal is a SUPER HIT film as collections went up on its second Friday due to Janmashtami. The minor holiday gave the film a good boost. It was the same for Batla House which also went up on its second Friday. The fact that there was little competition barring The Angry Birds 2 which had poor collections also helped the cause of both films. The apprx early estimates for the second Friday are as follows.

Batla House: 3.75-4 crore

Mission Mangal - 7.25-7.50 crore

Mission Mangal Fantastic On Second Friday

Mission Mangal did fantastic business on its second Friday with collections going up around 25% due to Janmashtami. Despite the film not being for Hindi mass circuits there were big jumps in smaller areas of places like Gujarat and UP with some places going up 60-70%. The jump at metro multiplexes was more muted but its a very minor holiday there and the jump should come there today.

The film is the third biggest HIT of the year and looks to be cruising to the 175 crore nett mark with 132.50 already in the bag and a big Saturday and Saunday to come. The NETT business of the film is already similar to Toilet - Ek Prem Katha which is the best Akshay Kumar performer from all his releases in the week of Independence Day.

There is a good chance that the film will top the 150 crore nett mark by the end of the weekend but it remains to be seen how much Janmashtami has pushed the collections. The collections of Mission Mangal till date are as follows.
